Battler Season 2
The Dunzen wasn't finished.
Despite the missing arm, it began to regenerate, dark mist pouring from its wounds.
Aiko rushed to Ryo, hands glowing green. "Don't move! If the spike hit a vital—"
Her hands trembled.
The wound was too deep.
"I—I can't fully heal this!" Aiko shouted. "If it spreads—he'll die!"
Kenji turned back toward the Dunzen.
Baran's voice whispered softly inside his mind.
You know what to do.
Kenji clenched his teeth. "No."
He will die if you hesitate.
The Dunzen roared again, charging.
Kenji stepped forward.
"Everyone stay back."
Ryo coughed blood. "Don't—order me around…"
Kenji didn't look at him.
Dark symbols crawled across Kenji's arm as the air pressure dropped.
Aiko felt it instantly.
"This energy… Kenji, stop!"
Too late.
Kenji raised his sword.
"Shadow Ignition."
The flames turned black-red.
The slash didn't just cut the Dunzen's body—
It erased it.
The creature vanished, reduced to nothing but drifting ash.
Silence followed.
Kenji fell to one knee, breathing heavily. Smoke rose from his skin.
Aiko ran to him. "Your body—this power is eating you!"
Toya helped support Kenji, his expression unreadable.
Ryo was silent.
After Aiko stabilized his wounds enough to stop the spread, Ryo finally spoke.
"…You used demon power."
Kenji closed his eyes.
"Yes."
Ryo laughed weakly. "So the rumors were true."
Kenji stood up slowly. "If you want to leave the team, I won't stop you."
Ryo's fists trembled.
"You saved my life," Ryo said. "But you lied to us."
Kenji met his eyes. "I didn't know how to tell you."
Ryo turned his face away.
"This team is already broken," he muttered.
From the shadows of a distant rooftop, the hooded observer watched the aftermath.
"So he crossed the line," the man said into a communicator.
A distorted voice replied.
"Good. Inform the Shadow King."
The man smiled.
"Phase two begins."
Above them all, unseen and amused—
Baran watched.
