Battler: - Danger Zone
Battler Season 2
The mission was supposed to be simple.
A mid-level Dunzen nest on the outskirts of Tokyo.
No high-ranking entities.
No unknown variables.
That was the report.
The team moved through the broken subway tunnel—
Kenji in front, Toya guarding the rear, Aiko in the middle, Ryo walking slightly apart.
Ryo clicked his tongue. "Too quiet."
Kenji raised his hand. "Stay alert."
Ryo scoffed. "You don't need to act like a commander. We're not soldiers."
Kenji ignored him.
The air suddenly vibrated.
Aiko froze. "Wait—this presence—"
The wall exploded.
A massive Dunzen burst through the concrete, its body wrapped in black crystal plates. Its roar shook the tunnel.
"THAT is NOT mid-level!" Toya shouted.
Kenji drew his sword. "Formation B! Toya—barrier!"
Toya slammed his hands together.
A glowing Scale Tape barrier expanded outward, barely stopping the first shockwave.
Ryo grinned. "Good. Something worth punching."
White energy surged through his veins.
"Max Bone!"
His muscles expanded, veins glowing stone-white. He dashed forward and smashed his fist into the Dunzen's face—
CRACK!
The creature staggered back.
But then… it smiled.
Black spikes erupted from its chest, piercing Ryo's shoulder and abdomen.
"Ryo!" Aiko screamed.
Blood splattered across the tunnel.
Kenji's eyes widened.
"Fall back!" Kenji shouted.
Ryo tried to move—but his legs failed him.
The Dunzen raised its arm.
Kenji didn't think.
He moved.
Dark flames exploded from his body, mixing with blazing red fire.
In a single instant, Kenji appeared in front of Ryo and slashed upward.
The Dunzen screamed as its arm was severed.
Everyone froze.
The flames around Kenji were wrong.
They weren't just fire.
They were alive.
Ryo stared at Kenji from the ground, eyes wide with shock.
"…What the hell are you?"
