Battler Season 2
Deep inside a sealed dimensional prison—far beyond any known Dunzen—Baran watched.
Chains of negative energy bound his true form, stretching endlessly into darkness. His body was incomplete, fractured across realms.
But his smile was whole.
"So you remember now," he murmured.
In Tokyo, Kenji sat alone in a dark room, his sword laid across his knees.
"Why me?" Kenji asked. "There are stronger Battlers. Better ones."
Baran's voice lowered. "Because you don't crave power."
Kenji frowned.
"You crave responsibility. That makes you dangerous."
Silence followed.
Then Kenji spoke again. "What are you really?"
Baran paused.
"For now," he said slowly, "I am a shadow. A king without a throne."
Images flashed into Kenji's mind—
Burning worlds.
Demons kneeling.
Battlers screaming.
But something else too.
Fear.
"You were defeated," Kenji realized.
Baran chuckled darkly. "By something far worse than you."
Suddenly, the room temperature dropped.
Kenji felt it—an external presence.
Not Baran.
Someone was watching him from outside.
Aiko burst into the room moments later. "Kenji! I felt a surge of negative energy—"
She stopped.
Kenji's aura had changed. Fire still burned—but wrapped around it was something darker, heavier.
"…What did you do?" she asked quietly.
Kenji didn't answer.
Instead, outside the building, a man in a hood lowered his binoculars.
"So that's him," the stranger muttered.
"The one the Shadow King warned us about."
He smiled.
"Begin the hunt."
Above Tokyo, the clouds twisted unnaturally.
The story of the contract had only begun—and its consequences were already moving.
