Battler season 2 chapter 5
Battler chapter 31
Battler: - Danger Zone
Battler Season 2
The rain had stopped, but Tokyo felt heavier than before.
Kenji stood alone on the rooftop of a half-destroyed Battler Organization outpost. Below him, emergency lights painted the streets red and blue. The city was alive—but wounded.
Inside the building, Ryo lay on a medical bed, unconscious. Tubes and monitors surrounded him, their beeping steady but ominous.
Aiko stood beside him, arms crossed, her face unusually pale.
"He'll live," she said quietly. "But his Karma pathways are damaged. If this keeps happening… next time, I won't be able to save him."
Kenji said nothing.
This mission was supposed to be simple—an unstable C–B Rank Dunzen cleanup. Instead, it turned into a disaster.
They were too slow. Too uncoordinated. Too divided.
And people had paid the price.
Aiko broke the silence. "Kenji… civilians were trapped in Sector C."
"I know."
"They trusted the Battlers," she continued. "And we failed them."
Kenji's jaw tightened.
Suddenly, a Battler Organization officer entered. His expression was cold, professional.
"Kenji," he said, "three civilians are dead."
The words struck harder than any blade.
Ryo stirred weakly on the bed. "My… fault…"
Kenji turned sharply. "No."
The officer continued, "Chairman Mock wants a report. Immediately."
When the room emptied, Kenji remained behind. He looked down at his hands.
Fire Karma flickered—then faded.
For the first time since becoming a Battler, Kenji felt something unfamiliar.
Doubt.
That night, Kenji returned to the underground facility alone.
He stood in the darkness.
"Show yourself," he said.
Silence.
Then—
A low laugh echoed.
"You called… and I answered."
Red light bloomed from Kenji's right hand.
Baran's voice crawled through his mind.
"You failed because you're holding back."
Kenji clenched his teeth. "I won't sacrifice my team for power."
Baran chuckled. "Liar."
Images flooded Kenji's mind—burning streets, screaming civilians, Ryo dying in his arms.
"You already made the choice," Baran whispered.
"You just haven't accepted it yet."
Kenji fell to one knee.
The line between leader and monster began to blur.
