Chapter 13 - Playing Hero II

Sunless stared down at his hand speechlessly.

He took a moment to recollect himself when he was gently interrupted by his sister who had just finished killing the old man.

Sunless could tell she had a wide grin on her face as she spoke.

"How about we collect a few equipments anyway?"

Not finding any problems with her suggestion, Sunless nodded.

Behind them however, Sonia twitched her lips repeatedly, her eyes filled with shock.

She stood rooted to her spot as she stared at Jane, not expecting her strength to be so tremendous.

Normally, she thought that Sunless was the monster but it seemed that Jane was an even bigger monster than he was!

'Two monsters!' Sonia muttered silently in shock.

Suddenly, the frail children from before seemed to have grown to a large extent overnight.

Before, they could barely endure being beaten and now they were the ones doing the beating.

It was truly ironic.

Sunless didn't care about what Sonia was thinking as he shifted his attention to his sister, Jane.

Jane had already gone to the location of the equipments in front of the shop as she began picking the ones scattered around.

'From what I heard, a treasure amongst these trashes gathered here is the key to an ancient expert treasure. If I can get my hands on it…' Jane thought grimly, and her heart was already burning in anticipation.

If she could get her hands on the treasures there then she and her brother could go and explore the treasure site, obtaining all the treasures for themselves.

With that in mind, Jane continued picking the equipments.

She didn't know how the equipment looked like but she believed she would be able to tell when she encountered the treasure.

"Brother, come, search with me…" Jane quickly chided, bringing Sunless' attention in her direction.

Sunless glanced at her with a smile and quickly bent down and joined her in the search.

Jane briefly glanced in the direction of Sonia, and without hesitation she also joined in the 'stealing' as she considered it.

She didn't even know if something useful could be found amongst the 'useless' junks gathered here.

With furrowed brows, she let out an exasperated sigh and continued with the 'search'.

The search dragged on for more than thirty minutes and by this time, they had gathered more than enough 'junks'.

With a bag in her hand, which she seemed to have brought along with her, Jane still had a light smirk on her face as they continued.

Suddenly, she spotted something out of the corner of her eyes.

In Sunless' hand, he was studying something that looked like a ball.

What caught Jane's attention about the ball was the golden inscription on the side.

It was something she had seen in her previous life.

'This inscription… the key!!' Jane exclaimed internally and her eyes lit up as she turned to Sunless.

"Brother, can I have a look at that iron ball for a moment?"

Sunless glanced at the iron ball for a few more seconds and seeing that there was nothing wrong with giving it to her, he tossed it to her.

Jane caught it and began taking a closer look at it.

Subconsciously, she could sense a strange, mysterious energy on the ball.

Based on her knowledge, she knew this was most likely the treasure she was looking for.

She grinned and tossed out all the other trash she had put in the bag, causing Sunless and Sonia to stare at her speechlessly.

"Why?" Sonia couldn't help but utter in shock.

However, Jane just shrugged. "I suddenly find this one more appealing."

Sonia and Sunless exchanged glances and, unable to say anything, they could only go with her suggestion.

With that, Jane glanced at Sunless and said, "we're done with this, let's go to another location. There should be someone else similar to him, although this time it's not an old man but a government official."

"A government official?" Sonia called out in shock. "Are you crazy? Why would you think of attacking a government official? What if you get killed?"

Sonia shrugged nonchalantly and turned to Sunless, waiting for his opinion.

Sunless picked up the steel rod from the ground and said with a cold killing intent, "no one would harm my sister while I'm here!"

At his words, Jane blushed slightly and let out a faint smile.

"Well then, it's settled. With my brother to protect me, I don't have anything to fear."

Her words left Sonia dumbfounded.

Sonia stared at Sunless, then back at Jane.

Suddenly, she felt a headache rising in her head.

These two were crazy!

How could she associate with this crazy bunch?

Even Sunless, whom she had spent some time with, suddenly seemed so different in the presence of his sister.

Sonia continued shifting her gaze between them before letting out a sigh.

It was her fault for coming with them, and she was paying for it.

She only hoped she wouldn't lose her life.

'Sunless and his sister are at the same level of strength, so I can pretty much assume that nothing would happen to me with their protection, at least.'

With that in mind, Sonia didn't let it bother her too much, although there was still some weight in her heart.

Jane studied the place and muttered under her breath as they left.

"These streets have really been abandoned by the government. It's been more than 40 minutes since we killed the old man and there's still no enforcers around."

She shook her head slightly as they alighted a car soon.

After walking a few more paces, they finally found a car to take them to the next location.

After a thirty minute ride, the three came down from the car and paid 10 dollars.

Dressed in their peculiar outfits with masks to cover their faces, they looked like the perfect robbers.

At the sight of them, the people that were trooping about immediately scampered away.

Jane seemed to enjoy it more.

She laughed lightly and roared in their direction.

"That's right! Run along if you don't want to lose your pitiful lives…"

Her words only seemed to fuel the urge to run. Those who were hesitating, thinking that she wouldn't target them, immediately ran as well.

Sunless glanced at his sister with a stunned expression.

"When did you become so terrifying?"

Jane seemed to have a smug smile on her face as she turned to Sunless. "It's nothing, bro."

Sunless shrugged and with that the three entered into the building.
