Chapter 7 - Same Cycle

"She will completely break our friendship after that. So, no. Not her cake." Summer said.

"..." Winter was dumbfounded. Summer could actually hear him gritting his teeth through the phone. She trembled in fear, awaiting an explosion.

As expected, he blew up, "What is wrong with you? Are you really an idiot, or are you just trying to act like one to mess me up? Look at our situation. We are in two completely different bodies living different lives. How could you actually think of something so silly like your friend's birthday wish compared to getting our lives back to normal? Also, if she is really your best friend, she will never break your relationship just because of blowing some stupid candles. What sort of friendship do you have? Is it so weak? Is it really that useless? Such a plastic friendship. I would rather not have such friends in my life. Is she really as dumb as you? Is that how you both became friends?"

Winter went on and on for who knows how long, and Summer had no choice but to purse her lips and listen as she looked like she wanted to cry.

She tried to interrupt him a few times in the middle, but that only made Winter scold her more fiercely.

Only when he felt his throat dry up did Winter stop. He heard soft sniffles through the phone, but he did not console her at all.

"Stop crying using my body. So weak in everything. I am hanging up. Don't call me until I call you first. I get angry when I talk to you," Winter finished up before hanging up on the phone.

Summer continued sniffling softly, feeling sad.

No one had ever scolded her so harshly before. This is the first time in her eighteen years of life.

"What happened? Are you crying?" She suddenly heard a concerned voice from behind her.

She hurriedly wiped her tears away and turned back to look at Rodger. She shook her head, "No. I am not crying. How can I cry? Have you ever seen me cry before?"

She tried her best to pretend to be Winter in front of Rodger.

Rodger looked at her for a couple of seconds. He could see that 'he' was trying to hide his emotions in front of him.

Winter never showed his emotions in front of his friends. No, that wasn't accurate. He never backed down from showing his anger. But that was all.

He always hid his fragile side from everyone.

Rodger sighed. He placed a hand over Winter's shoulder and asked, "Want to drink?"

Summer blinked her watery eyes and nodded, "Yes."

"Let's go. I will call the others," Rodger said while taking his phone out to call their friends.

Summer nodded and looked as Rodger walked past a curtain.

She did not know what he was thinking, but when she had a nosebleed, Rodger suddenly used a large curtain to divide the entire room into two halves.

On one hand, she was sad that it was obstructing her view of Rodger's handsome face and hot body.

On the other hand, she was happy to have some privacy for herself.

"Bro, I never thought that Rodger would invite us for drinks. I was wondering if the sun rose from the west today. But looking at Winter's drooping face, I understood everything," Brock said while drinking.

"What did you understand?" Archer asked in a 'secretive' voice, not really hiding his voice from others.

Rodger's lips twitched. If they want to talk about him, shouldn't they at least talk when he wasn't there?

"Of course it is for Winter. Rodger wanted to lift his mood and hence got us together," Brock said.

"Oh? You mean Rodger is usually stingy and wouldn't buy us drinks if not for Winter?" Archer was clearly trying to drive a wedge between them.

Brock wanted to punch him in the face, "Dude. Did I say that? Rodger wasn't stingy. But he never drinks. He treated us to dinner so many times, but never for drinks. Stop putting words in my mouth. Or I will have to put my fist in yours."

Archer didn't care in the least and laughed it off, "hehe." He then looked at Winter and asked, "Winter, what is your issue, brother? Why are you so sad today?"

"Yes, yes. What is it? I want to know too," Brock nodded along.

Winter's lips twitched, "Why do you two want to gossip like girls?"

Summer learned this phrase from her conversations with them and also her brother.

"I am not a girl, but I like gossip." Archer said in a low voice before saying, "We are just concerned about our friend. We are not gossiping."

Summer's lips twitched. If she did not hear his first few words, she might have actually believed his nonsense.

"Nothing happened. I am just not in a good mood," Summer said casually, but she took a huge gulp of her drink. She almost emptied an entire glass.

"Why? Is it that time of the month?" Brock chuckled.

"Yes. You didn't know? I thought we were sharing the same cycle," Summer said back.

"..." Everyone was stunned by her comeback.

Before, Winter would always scold them if they made any girly jokes about him. He would almost throw them out of the window when they made such jokes.

But today, he actually made a calm comeback? He did not mind 'agreeing' to their words. That was definitely a first.

"Dude, are you alright? Is your head burnt or something?" Archer placed his hand over Winter's forehead as if he were checking for his temperature.

Summer casually swatted his hand away like a fly, "Get lost."

She then took another chug of beer.

"Bro, slow down. You will get drunk at this rate," Brock tried to stop him.

"Let him be. Aren't we here?" Rodger casually said while crossing his legs and taking a small sip leisurely. He looked like he owned the place in his posture.
