Chapter 9 - Twins

Going with the drunkard's words is the best solution most of the time.

"Oh. Okay. But it is a secret. You can't tell anyone," Summer placed her finger on her lips.

"Okay. I won't tell anyone," Rodger nodded immediately.

"Hehe. Okay. What do you want to know?"

"About your brother."

Summer blinked her eyes. Then she shook her head. "I am Winter. So, I don't have any brothers."

"But you said…" Rodger wanted to speak, but Summer continued.

"Winter had a sister. Twin sister. Winter and Summer are twins." She grinned happily. She really liked announcing having a twin to the world.

Sadly, she did not get the chance to do so publicly.

"Summer?"

"Yes?" She responded, but in Rodger's ears it sounded like an affirmation of his sister's name.

"Summer and Winter. Good names."

"Right? I wonder who named us. So creative. Hehe," Summer grinned and chuckled.

"You don't know who named you?" Rodger asked with a smile.

Summer shook her head, "I didn't even know about…" She stopped herself and continued, "What would I know?"

Rodger asked, "You didn't know about what?"

Summer just shook her head resolutely.

Rodger understood he wouldn't answer even if he insisted. So he decided to change the topic. "So who scolded you as stupid?"

"My…" Summer swayed her head a few times and answered after a long thought, "sister?"

Her fuzzy brain was telling her to tell the truth, but her brother's warning made a few of her brain cells work overtime. So, instead of saying her brother, she said sister.

"Your sister, Summer, scolded you as stupid?" Rodger asked.

"Hmm," Summer nodded.

"Why?"

"Because I told her not to blow her best friend's birthday candles," She pursed her lips.

"Huh?" Rodger was confused. No matter how he looked at it, the matter looked very, very and very silly.

Summer scooched on her bed, letting Rodger sit properly beside her. "We have to blow out someone's birthday candle and make a wish. She wanted to blow my… I mean her best friend's birthday candles. But if she did that, wouldn't her best friend feel heartbroken and break the friendship? When I said no to that, she started scolding me.

"I mean, I understand what she was saying. This matter is very important. But just because our matter is important doesn't mean that my… her best friend's birthday isn't important, right? It was her eighteenth birthday. They are going to celebrate it grandly. She had been dreaming of this party for so many months now.

"If someone else blew on her birthday cake in front of all her guests, how would she feel? Nonetheless, the person isn't her enemy but her own best friend? We shouldn't be selfish, right?"

"..." Rodger still did not understand why blowing on some candles is such an important matter to Winter.

As men, they never cared about having candles on their cakes. Having a cake to cut is already enough for them. As long as they have their favorite dishes on their plate, it was a great party. At most, they would blow on one candle as a sense of ceremony, and that too because of their family members.

But why was Winter making such a huge fuss now?

"Why do you want to blow on someone else's candles? Why is it very important?" He asked softly. Winter is still drunk. Only this way would he get a few answers.

"It's important. Very important. We have to make a wish and see if it will be successful," Summer said while her head swayed from side to side like a bobblehead.

Rodger frowned. He felt Winter looked cute when he did that. But that felt weird.

"Okay, let's see what to do about that tomorrow. Now go to sleep," Rodger pushed her back into her bed.

"Hmmm~" Summer whined and caught his arm.

"What is it?" Rodger asked.

"Stay with me?" Summer pouted.

"Huh? What do you mean, stay with you?"

"Sleep beeside me~" Drunk Summer whined like a baby.

"I will sleep on my bed. I will still be in the same room. Okay?" Rodger tried to reason with this drunkard.

"Mhmm. No!" Summer shook her head and bossed around. "Sleep beside me. I won't let you go. After all, I don't know how long I have with you."

"Huh? Why do you say that?" Rodger's voice softened when he heard her last sentence.

Should his words even be considered serious? Or should he let them enter through one ear and leave through the other, considering they were from a drunkard?

"If the birthday wish comes true, I will have to leave you, right?" Summer answered seriously while grabbing onto his arm tightly, scared he would leave her.

"What are you talking about? What exactly are you trying to wish?" Rodger's voice turned grave in an instant.

Winter was his best friend since they were little. He couldn't imagine his good friend leaving his life for no reason at all.

"I can't tell you that. It's a secret. A secret between Summer and Winter. No one else can know about it. Shhh," Summer said before shushing with her finger on her lips.

Then, without letting Rodger speak another word, she pulled him onto the bed and covered him with her quilt, as if she had just locked him up and he couldn't escape her bed anymore.

Rodger didn't know if he should laugh or cry at that. He could easily escape that quilt. But her grip was tight over his arm.

He just decided against fighting his fate and closed his eyes to sleep beside Winter.

It is not like it was the first time they shared a bed anyway.

It is just that the dorm's beds were smaller compared to the ones they were generally used to. So, sharing a bed is a bit uncomfortable.

When Summer realized that he wasn't fighting anymore, she gave a victorious grin before her hand started to move.

It went towards his shirt and then slowly under it.
