Summer looked at her phone and pouted. It's been a week, and Winter has yet to call her.
She tried calling and texting, but received no response either.
"What happened?" Rodger asked. "Why aren't you eating?"
"Nothing," Summer shook her head.
Rodger looked at her and placed a piece of fried chicken on her plate, "Eat it and tell me what the problem is."
Summer smiled, "Thank you. It is just that my… sister. She wouldn't talk to me, no matter how many times I called her."
"Since she scolded you last time?" Rodger was surprised.
Summer nodded.
Rodger raised an eyebrow, "Is she that stubborn?"
Summer almost nodded, but then she realized that if she agreed, it would make him have a bad impression of her and not of her brother.
She sighed and shook her head. "No. Summer is good. She is a very good girl. Don't ever think badly about her. In fact, I think you should meet her, and you two should go on a date or something. That would be perfect. But not now. Yes, now would be a lot of trouble. You should go on a date later."
Subconsciously, Summer started rambling and couldn't stop herself.
"..." Rodger couldn't find any chance to stop her at all. He took a piece of chicken and stuffed it into her mouth, "Stop now."
Summer grudgingly chewed on her chicken and glared at him.
She was trying hard to make a good impression on him. Once she is back in her body, she should find a chance to meet and date him directly. For that, it would be great to use this opportunity to form some groundwork.
If she did not use this chance, how could she meet him later?
"Did you calm down?" Rodger asked her.
"Hmm," Summer nodded.
"Anyway, I am inviting you to Katy's birthday this weekend." Rodger said, ignoring all the nonsense he said earlier.
"Katy? Your sister?" Summer thought for a second before understanding who he was talking about.
If Winter had not given this information beforehand, she would be completely clueless now.
"Yeah. Why are you acting like you had never met her before?" Rodger asked casually while eating.
"No. I just didn't know it was her birthday this month. That's all."
"Oh. Anyway, you are coming, right?" Rodger asked.
"Yes, yes. Of course, I am coming," Summer nodded enthusiastically.
This is her chance to meet Rodger's family members. How could she let this chance slip away?
If it's Rodger's sister, she would be her future sister-in-law. She should use this chance to get to know her better, to use it to get some brownie points for later.
Rodger looked at her like she had grown some horns on her head, "Are you alright?"
"Yeah. Why do you ask?" Summer asked with a smile.
"You look a bit too enthusiastic about meeting Katy. You weren't like this before," Rodger said.
"Am I not? How is that possible? I mean, she is your sister. Your sister is my sister. And my sister is your…" Summer stopped herself before she could say the word sister. "I mean… No. My sister is nothing to you. My sister can only be my sister. Forget about it."
"..." 'I never wanted your sister to be my sister in the first place. Also, why did the topic even go that way?' Rodger did not understand.
But for some reason, Rodger had a thought of teasing her. "Why can't your sister be my sister when my sister could be your sister?"
"Huh? Why are you talking so much? I thought you were not the person to speak much?" Isn't that what Winter had told her before? Why does he look like he loves teasing her?
Rodger looked at her. Yes, he really never talked much. Even with Winter.
But with this 'new' Winter, he somehow seemed to want to talk more, tease him more and do many more things which made him feel weird.
He did not understand why either.
So, he just changed the topic, "Why can't your sister be mine?"
Summer heard his question and suddenly smirked.
Rodger looked at her smirk and had a bad feeling about it.
Summer said, "My sister can be yours. But she can't be your sister."
"Huh? What do you mean by that? Is it some sort of puzzle? What is the difference between those two sentences?" Rodger did not understand. He suddenly realized that he couldn't understand ANYTHING when it came to this 'new' Winter.
"Haha. Let's talk when you understand the meaning of what I just said. Until then…" She gave him a salute, got up and left with her utensils, leaving him hanging.
Once out of his sight, she took her phone out and sent a text to her brother, "Brother, today is Clara's birthday. What is going on over there? What theme is she using for her party?
"Rodger just said that it's Katy's birthday this weekend. How old is she? What should I know about her?"
Since she had to meet Katy as Winter, she had to know how their relationship was.
She was also hoping that this question might make her brother reply to her text. She did not know how long he would be in this cold war with her.
She never thought there would be someone in this world who is more entitled than her. That's a man nonetheless.
Looks like she and her brother do share a few similarities in temperament.
After a few minutes, she finally got a reply from him. "Stay away from her."
"Huh? Why? Isn't she your best friend's sister?" She asked in doubt.
"STAY AWAY FROM HER." He repeated, this time all the words in caps.
"Are you scared of her? What did the poor girl do to you, brother? If I don't know the context, how could I act accordingly?" She sent another text. She wouldn't tell him that she wanted gossip more than information to act in front of that young lady.
