"How could her family ever treat her well? Son, you must bring Na'er home in the future, understand?"

Jiang Yun finally calmed herself, fixing her gaze on Xie Xie with a resolute expression. She believed that with her child's talent, becoming a top powerhouse was inevitable; when that day came, they would scour the continent and bring Na'er—their family—back where she belonged.

"I will, Mom," Xie Xie nodded seriously.

In his mind, he made a silent vow. Na'er was family forever. In the future, he would definitely bring her back from Shrek Academy. Three years, he thought, his face settling into a mask of composure. We'll see each other again.

But before that, he had to ensure he remained ahead of the curve. A twelve-year-old Spirit Ancestor (Rank 40)... if Tang Wulin could eventually do it, he, with his Unparalleled System and specialized training, could do it too.

"Big Brother Xie Xie, Aunt Jiang, Uncle Xie, why isn't Sister Na'er here? Is she sleeping in today?"

That morning, Xu Xiaoyan arrived at the Xie household with a puzzled look. Usually, Na'er would be the first to greet her. In her arms, she clutched a cute picture book. Inside were the drawings she had finished last night: images of herself, Xie Xie, and Na'er. They were supposed to stay best friends forever.

"Xiao Yan, Na'er's gone," Jiang Yun's smile was complicated and bittersweet. "She's gone to a faraway place; she won't be coming back."

"Hm? Gone to a faraway place..."

At first, Xu Xiaoyan didn't grasp the finality of the words. But slowly, the common euphemism for death she had heard from her father took hold. The picture book clattered to the floor. Her smile froze.

"Big Brother Xie Xie... is it true?" Her eyes welled with tears as she sought confirmation, her small frame trembling.

"What's wrong? Xiao Yan, why are you—" Xie Xie rose and took her hand, startled by her reaction. "Mom's making it sound worse than it is. Na'er will come back."

"Big Brother Xie Xie, you're lying!" Fat tears rolled down her adorable face. "Daddy told me people who die can't come back, just like Grandpa... once they're gone, they never return!"

Xie Xie stood stunned. Even Jiang Yun and Xie Tianhai blinked in surprise. Had their words really sounded that grim?

"Xiao Yan, you've misunderstood," Xie Xie explained gently, wiping a tear from her cheek. "Sister Na'er's actual family came for her. She moved away with them."

Gradually, as the three of them explained the situation, Xu Xiaoyan's mood lifted. She blinked in embarrassment, realizing she had made a massive blunder.

"Then... why can't Sister Na'er ever come back? Did her family forbid it?" she pressed.

"We'll find her in the future, regardless of what her family says. Don't you think so, Xiao Yan?" Xie Xie spoke softly.

"I think so too," Xu Xiaoyan nodded solemnly, picking up her sketchbook and showing him the drawing of the three of them holding hands. "The three of us... will never be separated!"

"We won't," Xie Xie agreed, his tone shifting. "But... has our Xiao Yan been slacking on her cultivation again?"

Xu Xiaoyan froze, giving an awkward, guilty grin. "I—I did cultivate! For a little while, then I started drawing and went to bed at nine."

Xie Xie rubbed his brow. Home at six, three hours for dinner, drawing, and sleep—Xiao Yan was still a little slacker.

"Xiao Yan, Na'er is special. If you keep this up, you'll get left behind," he warned.

"No way! I'm almost a Spirit Grandmaster!" She wagged a finger playfully.

Xie Xie chuckled. He knew the truth. By the time they reached Shrek, Na'er—as the Silver Dragon King—would be a monster of power.

"I'm going to the Blacksmith Association later; you cultivate in my room," Xie Xie said firmly.

"Can I come? I'll be bored!" she pleaded, batting her eyes.

"Do you want to come forging, or do you just not want to cultivate?"

"Oh, it doesn't matter! I just want to be with Big Brother!" She giggled, sticking out her tongue.

Far away in Shrek City.

"My lord, you have awakened."

Inside a hidden chamber, a tall man in black robes—Di Tian, the Beast God—stood with fervent respect.

Before him sat the silver-haired girl, Na'er. But she was no longer the dazed girl from Aolai City. She was the ruler of the Star Dou Great Forest, the Silver Dragon King.

"Mm. Di Tian, you've done well," she said, her voice cold and aloof. "Now that I have awakened, the plan can begin; this era shall be ruled by the Dragon Clan, and all humans—except Big Brother Xie Xie—will be..."

She paused, her cold expression faltering. "Hm? Big Brother Xie Xie?"

She froze. Her memories were at war. In the mind that should have held only the cold calculation of a species' survival, the three years lived as a human had left an indelible mark.

Affection, warmth, and the feeling of family were swirling within her. And occupying the center of that storm was the boy who refused to fade from her mind: Xie Xie.

"This..." she murmured, her amethyst eyes trembling. "Impossible!"

The human emotions she had absorbed were not merely a mask—they had become a part of her soul. The Silver Dragon King was no longer a purely cold entity; she was a sovereign haunted by the love of a brother.
