"Your control..."
Gu Yue stood on the platform, her voice trailing off as the absolute silence of the spatial lock faded. Even though she was now free to move, she remained rooted to the spot, staring at Xie Xie.
She wasn't surprised that he possessed a spatial imprisonment skill; it was a hallmark of the Time-Space Dragon King. What shocked her was the priority of the effect. She was the Silver Dragon King—the sovereign of elements. Even with her power currently suppressed, her innate understanding of space should have allowed her to ripple through the cage or at least mitigate the lock.
Yet, under his gaze, she had felt as though the very concept of "motion" had been erased from her existence.
"Within the same Realm, my imprisonment is absolute," Xie Xie said, his voice flat as he stepped off the stage. "Once you are caught, there is no breaking free."
He didn't mention that this skill scaled with his Spirit Resonance mental force, making the "coordinates" of his lock far more precise than any ordinary Spirit Grandmaster could manage.
"...I concede," Gu Yue said softly. She followed him down, her eyes burning with a new, focused intensity. She was no longer just "playing the game" for Na'er's wager. Her pride as the Silver Dragon King had been piqued. She refused to be second to anyone—especially a human.
"Boss is invincible!" Wei Xiaofeng cheered, leading the rest of the F4 in a celebratory roar.
"Brother Xie Xie... is still ridiculously strong," Xu Xiaoyan murmured. She looked at her own hands. Her Star Wheel Chain could lock a target, but it was a clumsy tether compared to the absolute stillness Xie Xie had just demonstrated. Little Yan really has to work harder!
"Xie Xie wins!" Teacher Ye Yingluo announced. Her smile was wide, but her internal thoughts were a storm of ambition.
In her years of teaching, she had never seen two nine-year-olds display such peak-level combat logic. Gu Yue's Four-Element Fusion was a feat of high-level control that most Spirit Elders couldn't grasp, yet Xie Xie had dismantled it with a casual thought.
If I nurture these two... no, these six... I won't just be the best teacher in Donghai. I'll be a legend.
"Dismissed! But Xie Xie, Gu Yue, Wang Jinxi, Zhang Yangzi, Wei Xiaofeng, and Xu Xiaoyan—follow me to my office," Ye Yingluo commanded.
Inside the office, the air was thick with the scent of high-grade tea.
"You six are the core of Class One. Your average rank is already 20. In the eyes of the academy, you are the future," she began. "The Class Promotion Tournament is approaching. Usually, Class One sits at the top and waits for challengers. But this year... I want you to be the aggressors."
"Challenge higher grades?" Zhang Yangzi's eyes lit up.
"Exactly. With your strength—especially with Xie Xie and Gu Yue as your pillars—I want you to sweep through the second and third years. Let the entire academy know that Class One, Grade One, is the strongest force in Donghai."
"Understood," Xie Xie replied, though his mind was elsewhere. He knew that as these geniuses displayed their power, the academy would eventually be forced to consolidate them. Class Zero—the experimental class for monsters—was inevitable.
After dismissing the students, Ye Yingluo sat back in her chair. She opened her desk drawer and pulled out a small, framed photograph of a man with flowing blue hair and a cold, handsome face.
"Wu Changkong," she whispered, her eyes narrowing with a mixture of resentment and determination. "You chose Class Five over me. You chose to rot with the failures. I'm going to use these children to shatter your pride. I'll make you regret every choice you've ever made."
"Teacher was oddly friendly today. She actually told us to go home and rest," Wei Xiaofeng joked as they walked toward the gate. "Rest? I don't even know how to spell that word!"
"Time is for cultivating," Wang Jinxi agreed, his thin face set in a serious line.
Beside Xie Xie, Xu Xiaoyan blushed and tightened her grip on his hand. She was the only one in the group who genuinely enjoyed a good nap, but seeing everyone's fire, she felt a surge of motivation.
"Brother Xie Xie, are you coming to dinner?" she asked softly.
"I'm going to skip tonight, Xiao Yan. I need to head to the Blacksmith Association. Uncle Mu called."
"Oh? I'll go back and cultivate, then!" Xiaoyan promised, waving as she headed toward her dormitory.
Xie Xie pulled his soul communicator from his pocket. "Uncle Mu, I'm on my way."
"Good," Mu Chen's voice came through, warm and professional. "I've just accepted a new apprentice. He's about your age, also from Donghai Intermediate Academy. He's got raw talent but he's a bit of a loner. I thought it'd be good for the two of you to meet."
Xie Xie's lips curled into a small, knowing smile. A nine-year-old blacksmith, new to the association, and a student at his academy? The description was unmistakable.
It's time, he thought. The Golden Dragon King and the Time-Space Dragon King are finally going to meet.
