"Rank 29 Spirit Grandmaster!"

Hearing Gu Yue's rank, the classroom plunged into a state of collective shock. Even Teacher Ye Yingluo was momentarily speechless. A genius of this caliber was a rarity on the entire continent; she had thought Xie Xie was a once-in-a-lifetime anomaly, but to have two such experts in a single class was beyond her wildest expectations.

Rank 29...

Xie Xie was internally reeling. In the original timeline, Gu Yue had debuted at Rank 15. She had effectively doubled her starting power. He glanced at her, noticing the calm, almost bored expression on her face.

Then again, he realized, for the Silver Dragon King, an initial rank was merely a dial she could turn to whatever setting she desired. A Rank 15 debut didn't really fit the dignity of the Dragon Clan's co-ruler anyway.

This is fine, Xie Xie thought, regained his composure. If she wants to follow through with her bet against Na'er, a Rank 15 cultivation would only have held her back. This makes things much more interesting.

"To think someone's talent could actually keep pace with the Boss!" Wei Xiaofeng whispered, his eyes wide. Zhang Yangzi and Wang Jinxi nodded fervently. Having spent three years with Xie Xie, they knew his power was "comprehensive terror," but this girl named Gu Yue seemed like a genuine contender for the throne.

While the boys were focused on the rivalry, Xu Xiaoyan sat in silence, her small fists clenched tightly. Her Rank 19 cultivation—a full major realm lower than both Xie Xie and Gu Yue—suddenly felt like a heavy weight.

Before, she hadn't mind being behind "Brother Xie Xie" because he was her world. But being outdone by a girl her own age? The competitive spark that Xie Xie had failed to ignite in her for three years was suddenly roaring to life. I can't just play around anymore, she vowed. I won't be left behind.

Meanwhile, on the Donghai Academy Playground.

While Class 1 was celebrating its unprecedented talent, the teacher of Class 5 was standing in a state of grim silence.

Wu Changkong, a man standing over 1.9 meters tall with piercing eyes and flowing blue hair, watched his students. He was the academy's strongest expert, a former star teacher of the Advanced Division now "exiled" to the elementary section's worst class.

He was beyond disappointed. Aside from Tang Wulin—who had Rank 11 Blue Silver Grass but possessed startling physical strength—the class was a disaster. Two Rank 13s and ten Rank 12s. By the time the Class Promotion Tournament arrived, he'd be lucky to field a team of Rank 14s.

"Tang Wulin, come to the office. The rest of you, dismissed," he commanded, his voice like cracking ice.

Inside the office, Wu Changkong studied the boy. "Tang Wulin, your Martial Soul is weak, but your blood-qi and physical power exceed that of an Attack-System Spirit Grandmaster. This shouldn't be possible with Blue Silver Grass. Is there a second soul waiting to awaken?"

"Maybe..." Tang Wulin replied vaguely. He thought of the Golden Dragon King bloodline sealed within him. It was a secret he couldn't share.

"And those hammers you used during our spar—what's the story there?"

"I've studied blacksmithing, Teacher," Tang Wulin said, pulling out his heavy forging hammers.

Wu Changkong frowned. "With your low innate soul power, cultivation should be your only priority. Why waste time on a secondary profession? Have you even reached the entry level?"

"I'll be careful, Teacher Wu," Tang Wulin said, feeling a bit helpless. He needed the money from forging to buy a Spirit Soul; without it, he'd never progress at all.

Wu Changkong sighed. "I brought you here to discuss the Class Promotion Tournament. As long as Class 1 doesn't have any true monsters... we might have a chance."

Back at Class 1.

"Today's classes ended so quickly," Xu Xiaoyan murmured as they walked out of the building.

"It's the first day. Just theory and orientation," Xie Xie said.

"The Boss is right! So... let's hit the cafeteria," Wei Xiaofeng suggested, his eyes fixed on the dining hall.

Xie Xie turned to Xu Xiaoyan, but she shook her head with a determined smile. "Brother Xie Xie, I'm going back to the dorm. I'm not hungry—I want to start cultivating immediately."

"Huh?" Xie Xie was stunned. The little slacker wants to skip a meal to train? He smiled gently. "In that case, go ahead. Work hard, and I'll take you out for a feast this weekend."

As Xiaoyan skipped away, she didn't notice Gu Yue watching her from a distance before turning toward the cafeteria herself.

Xie Xie and his roommates entered the hall, divided into Grade A, B, and C sections. Naturally, they headed for Grade A—the most expensive and nutritious meals.

"It's decent," Xie Xie evaluated, taking a bite. "But it's hard to beat Mom's cooking."

As he was eating, a tray was placed on the table right next to him. Xie Xie looked up, startled, only to meet the calm, slightly amused gaze of Gu Yue.

"Student Xie Xie," she said, her voice cool but melodic. "You don't mind me eating with you, do you?"

Xie Xie paused, his fork halfway to his mouth. The air between them seemed to crackle with an unspoken challenge.
