"Congratulations, Tower Master, on taking such a beloved Disciple."

On the sofa, Guo Gang beamed with vicarious joy, offering his congratulations with a deep bow.

"Mm." Leng Yaozhu gave a slight, dismissive nod, her gaze not even flickering toward him.

Just as a wave of disappointment began to well up in the man's heart, a cool, authoritative voice rang directly in his mind via mental transmission: The Tianhai City Tower Master will be transferred soon. Once the position is vacant, you will take over there.

Guo Gang's eyes nearly popped out of his head. Delight surged through him like a physical shock. From a mid-tier coastal city to the capital of the province—his future was now paved in gold, all thanks to the boy sitting before him. "Yes, Tower Master!"

Leng Yaozhu then turned to Xie Tianhai and Jiang Yun, her aura softening into something more approachable. "The two of you shouldn't mind... if I stay a little longer today, would you?"

"Of course not! You are welcome to stay as long as you like," the couple blurted out in unison. A figure of her stature—a Rank 98 Super Douluo—was staying in their home? They would have offered her the master bedroom if she had asked.

"That won't be necessary; I won't remain in Donghai City for long," Leng Yaozhu said, shaking her head with a smile. Her gaze drifted toward Na'er, and for a split second, she seemed to lose herself in those amethyst eyes. What a hauntingly beautiful child, she thought, before turning back to her new pupil.

"Xiao Xie, you are studying at Donghai Elementary Academy, yes? How is it?"

"Yes, Teacher. I like it there," Xie Xie replied.

Leng Yaozhu pondered for a moment. In truth, she wanted to whisk him away to Shrek City immediately to begin his elite training. But he was only six. A happy childhood with his parents and friends was a foundation that even the best cultivation couldn't replace.

"For the next few years, cultivate quietly at Donghai Academy," she decided. "I will bring you Heaven and Earth Treasures from the headquarters from time to time to check your progress. Once you breakthrough to the Spirit Ancestor (Rank 40) level, I will take you to Shrek City personally to teach you the art of crafting Spirit Souls."

"Yes, Teacher." Xie Xie bowed. He wasn't disappointed; he had his own plans for Donghai City that required him to stay close to the upcoming "main cast."

"By the way, Xiao Xie, what is your First Soul Skill?" Leng Yaozhu asked. "The records only mentioned a Wind Dragon Spirit Soul."

"Space-Time Piercing," Xie Xie answered clinically. "It's an instantaneous strike through the void. I am immune to all harm and status effects while in transition."

The room went silent. Leng Yaozhu's brow arched. An invincibility-frame teleport as a First Soul Skill? "Interesting. Come, try to hit me."

They moved to the back garden. Xie Xie didn't hesitate. He summoned the Time-Space Dragon King, and in the next instant, he simply... vanished.

When he reappeared, he was a blur of blue light behind Leng Yaozhu, his dragon claw streaking toward her neck. To an ordinary observer, it was a glitch in reality. To Leng Yaozhu, it was a masterful manipulation of spatial coordinates.

She waved a hand, a gentle wall of Soul Power suppressing the strike. "Formidable. With your Spirit, you will be the ultimate predator, hiding within the very fabric of space."

Three years passed in the blink of an eye.

Donghai Elementary Academy: Graduation Day.

In a quiet corner of the upper-grade classroom, a nine-year-old boy studied his Intermediate Academy admission letter. The baby fat had retreated, replaced by sharp, aristocratic features and a calm, piercing gaze. He stood 1.5 meters tall, possessing a physical presence that far exceeded his years.

This was Xie Xie.

At nine years old, his cultivation had reached Rank 29. He was a hair's breadth away from becoming a three-ring Spirit Elder, while his teacher, Su Yangtao, was still only Rank 32.

As he stood up to leave, three boys followed suit: Zhang Yangzi, Wang Jinxi, and Wei Xiaofeng. Over the past three years, they had become his loyal "entourage."

"Boss! We finally graduated!" Wei Xiaofeng darted over, grinning ear to ear. "Let's go celebrate this historic moment with a massive feast!"

"I'm afraid that won't work today," Xie Xie chuckled.

Zhang Yangzi sighed, pulling the other two back. "Don't bother, Wei. You know how it is."

Right on cue, a girl with twin-tails and dimples walked out of the neighboring classroom. She bypassed the trio and naturally took Xie Xie's hand. "Brother Xie Xie, let's go."

"We'll head off first. See you at registration," Xie Xie waved to his buddies and left with Xu Xiaoyan.

"Mm... as expected, no luck," Wang Jinxi muttered.

"Does brotherhood really lose to little girls?" Wei Xiaofeng pouted.

"They're childhood sweethearts, Wei," Zhang Yangzi reminded him. "And it's not just Sister Xiaoyan—there's Na'er too."

Wei Xiaofeng fell silent, his heart filled with a very specific, nine-year-old brand of jealousy. I want two childhood sweethearts too!

Xie Xie and Xu Xiaoyan walked toward the "Ordinary Class" block—the section for children who hadn't awakened a Martial Soul. Waiting there was a girl in a pale white dress, her silver hair shimmering in the sun.

Na'er.

After her Awakening Day three years ago, Na'er hadn't manifested a Spirit. Even Leng Yaozhu was baffled. Under normal circumstances, someone like her would have been taken to a lab for study, but with a Vice Pagoda Master as her "aunt," she was left in peace.

"Brother, Xiao Yan," Na'er stepped forward, her smile radiant as she took Xie Xie's other hand.

"Mm." Xie Xie smiled back, but he noticed something. Her grip was tight—unusually tight, almost as if she were afraid he would disappear.

"Brother Xie Xie, Wei Xiaofeng seemed really disappointed," Xu Xiaoyan teased as they walked toward the gate. "Did I stop you from having a 'boys' night'?"

"That guy is just a drama queen," Xie Xie replied. "Besides, even if I went, I'd still escort you two home first."

"I see!" Xiaoyan beamed. "Then I'll head in. I'm almost Rank 19—I have to catch up to you!" She waved and ducked into her family's villa as they reached it.

Xie Xie turned to continue the walk with Na'er, but she froze in place. Her expression was strangely somber, her eyes fixed on the distant horizon where the city met the ocean.

"Brother," Na'er whispered, her voice trembling slightly. "Take me to see the sea? Just us?"

Xie Xie looked at her, his heart skipping a beat. The three-year peace was ending. He knew what this request meant.
