"Your Excellency is..."
Xie Tianhai stared at the bald man in the doorway. The face was hauntingly familiar, yet in his current state of confusion, he couldn't quite place the name.
"We are from the Spirit Pagoda. I called you yesterday, Family Head Xie," the man answered quickly, a professional smile plastered on his face.
"Ah! Please, come in!" The reminder clicked into place; Xie Tianhai hurried to usher them inside. Someone from the Spirit Pagoda had indeed phoned yesterday afternoon, but he hadn't expected a personal visit so soon, nor with such a companion.
"Sorry for the intrusion." With immense deference, the man motioned for the woman beside him to enter first.
She was breathtaking—seemingly in her early twenties, with waist-length hair the color of living flame. Even her plain, casual clothes couldn't mask her overwhelming Aura. She didn't just walk into the room; she commanded it. She radiated a sense of absolute dominance that made the air itself feel heavy.
"This is..." In the living room, both Xie Tianhai and Jiang Yun felt a crushing pressure. The woman before them was many times stronger than both of them combined.
"I feel we've met before, Your Excellency... May I ask who you are?" While pouring tea with a trembling hand, Xie Tianhai finally looked at the bald man.
"Guo Gang, at your service. Tower Master of the Donghai City Spirit Pagoda."
The plump man's tone was friendly, but the words left the couple stunned. Tower Master of Donghai's Spirit Pagoda! That title carried immense weight. After all, the entire Sun Moon Federation held only eighteen such high-level Pagodas. Each Tower Master was, by definition, a Titled Douluo.
"Greetings, Tower Master!" Instantly, the couple became formal. Even in an age of technology, a Titled Douluo remained an unscalable peak. No wonder the face looked familiar—Guo Gang was a local legend.
"You two are too polite," Guo Gang shook his head. Right now, he was playing the role of a mere escort for a true superior. Once the couple had regained some composure, he introduced the woman beside him. "Today, I am here to accompany our high-ranking guest, who specifically requested to meet your young master."
"Higher than a Tower Master?" Jiang Yun and Xie Tianhai ventured cautiously. If the local head was just an escort, then this woman...
"The Tower Master before you is a leader from our headquarters—Tower Master Leng Yaozhu, titled the Sky Phoenix, a Rank 98 Super Douluo."
"Her Excellency, Sky Phoenix!"
The pair shot to their feet again. Leng Yaozhu—the Vice Pagoda Master of the entire Spirit Pagoda organization! That name thundered across the continent. A Rank 98 Super Douluo, a Four-Word Battle Armor Master, and one of the top ten powerhouses on the Continental Power List. For such a figure to visit a private home in Donghai was practically divine intervention.
The couple sat on pins and needles, their breath shallow. Only little Na'er sat quietly, blinking in bright curiosity at the "Fire Lady."
"Please, there is no need for such shock," Leng Yaozhu smiled, her voice melodic. "I came today merely to see—"
The front door opened, and Xie Xie walked in. "Dad, Mom, I'm—" He stopped mid-sentence, his gaze locking onto Leng Yaozhu.
"Little one, you are Xie Xie?" Sky Phoenix's eyes fixed on him, her cool face breaking into a genuine, intrigued smile.
"Yes, I am... May I ask who the Senior is?" Xie Xie answered cheerfully, feigning the ignorance of a child. In truth, he knew exactly who she was. He had expected the Spirit Pagoda to come calling, but he hadn't expected his talent to draw a Vice Pagoda Master.
"My name is not important right now," Leng Yaozhu said, her features softening as she studied the boy. "May I see your Martial Soul?"
"Of course." Xie Xie nodded.
As the Time-Space Dragon King activated, a shimmering, illusory silhouette materialized behind him. The appearance of the pale-blue Dragon King caused the surrounding space to ripple and warp visibly.
"Time-Space Dragon King... a bloodline strong enough to distort the vacuum itself," Leng Yaozhu murmured. "In the future, this ability alone will make you the world's premier space-attribute Spirit Master."
She wondered if the rumors about his power over time were true. If so, he was a walking glitch in the laws of physics.
"There is one more thing I heard," she continued, producing a high-precision device from her spatial tool. "Your mental force has reached the Spirit Resonance Realm. May I test it?"
"How does the test work?"
"Just stay still." Leng Yaozhu tapped the device against his temple. The digital readout flashed a bright, impossible number: 208.
"Two hundred and eight..." Surprise crossed Leng Yaozhu's face. After absorbing his first Spirit Soul, his mental force had jumped significantly. "Fascinating. At six years old, you already possess the mental capacity of a Spirit King. Was this even a human birth?"
She looked at him, her eyes gleaming with a possessive spark. "Little one, would you like to become my Disciple?"
The room went dead silent. Everyone—except Na'er—was breathing fast. Xie Tianhai and Jiang Yun could hardly believe their ears. A Rank 98 Super Douluo wanting to take their son as a direct pupil!
"This Disciple, Xie Xie, greets his Teacher." Without a second's hesitation, Xie Xie bowed deeply to Leng Yaozhu.
He wasn't just doing it for the power. He knew the dangers of this era. The Holy Spirit Cult lunatics were everywhere. A six-year-old genius with Rank 200+ mental force and Rank 3 Blacksmith skills was a target. The Spirit Pagoda, with its complex political ties, was his best shield.
"Oh?" Leng Yaozhu blinked, surprised by his decisiveness. "You don't even truly know who I am yet!"
"Top expert of the Spirit Pagoda, Four-Word Battle Armor Master, the Sky Phoenix Douluo, and one of the strongest beings under heaven," Xie Xie replied calmly. "You are my Teacher."
"One of the strongest... you're a sweet-talker," she laughed, ruffling his hair. "From today on, you are my Sole Disciple."
Xie Xie sighed inwardly at the hair-ruffling, but the phrase "Sole Disciple" caught his attention. If I'm her only pupil now, he thought with a smirk, won't Gu Yue have to call me Senior Brother when she eventually joins?
