Battler Season 2
The streets of Tokyo were a battlefield now. Smoke curled from shattered windows, and the distant sirens of the city only added to the chaos. The monster that had emerged from the Dunzen was massive—its scales black as night, eyes glowing red, and claws sharp enough to slice through concrete like paper.
Kenji crouched low, the fiery blade of his sword humming with energy. Flames licked the edges as he sized up the enemy. Beside him, Ryo's fists glowed, small fragments of rock floating around his body from the activation of his Max Bone transformation. Aiko's hands glimmered faintly green, her eyes scanning the creature's weak points.
"This thing… it's unlike anything I've faced before," Ryo muttered, flexing his knuckles.
Kenji shook his head. "Don't underestimate it. Keep your focus. Protect the civilians at all costs."
Aiko stepped forward, her voice calm but firm. "Kenji, we need a strategy. If we charge blindly, someone will die."
Kenji's eyes flickered toward her, considering. "Alright… we split. Ryo, draw its attention. Aiko, support me from the side."
Ryo growled but nodded. "Don't hold me back!"
The monster roared and lunged forward, each step cracking the pavement. Ryo met it head-on, fists striking with incredible force. Each punch sent tremors through the ground, yet the creature barely flinched. Rocks flew, sparks erupted, and the alley shook violently.
Kenji moved with precision, dodging a claw that could have decapitated a normal man in an instant. He swung his flaming sword, slicing a thick tendril of black scale. The monster hissed, recoiling slightly.
"Not bad," Ryo muttered, sweat dripping down his face. "But it's too fast!"
From above, Aiko unleashed a gust of wind, mixed with grass energy, to entangle the monster's limbs. "Kenji! Hit it now!"
Kenji nodded and charged, the fire from his blade trailing behind him. He struck the monster's exposed flank, burning through tough scales. The creature shrieked in pain, but then countered, swiping a claw toward Ryo.
"No—!" Kenji shouted, diving to block the attack with his flaming sword. Sparks erupted as steel met claw. The force pushed Kenji backward, but he held firm.
Ryo staggered, panting, his body trembling from the strain of his Max Bone power. "This thing… it's insane!"
Suddenly, the monster's eyes glowed a darker red, and negative energy surged from its body. The aura was oppressive, gnawing at the edges of their Karma energy. Aiko stumbled slightly, struggling to maintain control over her healing aura.
"Kenji… it's affecting my Karma!" she shouted.
Kenji clenched his teeth, feeling the familiar burn of his own power pushed to its limits. "We've got no choice… Ryo, give me an opening!"
Ryo roared, slamming both fists into the ground. The tremor created a massive fissure, destabilizing the monster's footing. Kenji leapt forward, swinging his fiery sword in a wide arc. Flames collided with negative energy, burning and sizzling as the clash erupted in a blinding explosion.
When the smoke cleared, the monster was staggered, one side of its body seared and smoking. Kenji dropped into a defensive stance, Ryo panting heavily beside him, and Aiko quickly stabilized the surrounding area with a protective barrier.
"We did it… for now," Kenji muttered, eyes narrowing. "But this is just the beginning."
The city around them was in ruins, but the team had survived. For the first time, Kenji felt something different—a flicker of trust. Not much, but enough to realize that perhaps he didn't have to fight alone anymore.
Above them, the night sky remained dark, but the first sparks of teamwork had truly ignited. And somewhere in the shadows, something far worse was already watching.
