First thing Lion taught me is that I should not be alone. He told me that the world I'm in is divided into several classes:
Predators
Prey
The Unknown
The neutral
Deserters
Ords
The predators are the top class. Like their name, they eat almost anything , even in the same class. Most of the predators are educated and evolved so most of them are not eating much "moving creatures" except those they personally brought up.
Yeah I do not trust that fact.
Lion proudly told me that he is a predator and that being a predator has the best privileges. Like you can float and fly everywhere, can do almost anything and you can basically rule your own territory. What about rules? I asked. He looked confused for a moment and told me that he doesn't understand what rules are. He told me they will follow whoever is at the very top and if they don't like it, they can just try to kill and eat the person.
Suddenly I don't feel very safe anymore.
Don't worry, he told me. He can protect me since his job is to control the magic in the territory. Sort of like a sorcerer or a wizard , I thought.
The rest of the classes are easier to understand. Preys are usually those that are particularly breeded for consumption but usually those that doesn't eat a "moving object". Like me? I trembled. Lion looked concerned for a moment and told me that not necessary, you can make any "moving object" as long as you have enough magic power.
Of course, he added, you are also considered prey since you seemed weaker.
I don't know what to say.
....
The Unknown are things that almost everyone avoided. Lion told me that I almost met an unknown the other day. He said that their presence can be felt. What are they? I asked. Lion thought for a moment before replying that he doesn't know how to describe them but any creature who goes near the unknown would either disappear, die or being twisted into something that cannot be described properly.
Just do not go near places that has almost no color or light, he warned me.
....
The neutral has no gender and they don't need a mate to reproduce. The triangle form with many eyes I saw the other day is a neutral. They usually just mind their own business but sometimes might approach you if they needed something. They don't harm you or eat you, in fact I haven't seen them eat anything, Lion told me.
What do they do? I asked. Lion shrugged and told me he isn't sure what they usually do. But he said that whenever there is something he doesn't know, or he needed to know something, he usually approach them.
....
The deserters came from an ancient bloodline who used to dominate the world until something happened that nearly wiped most of them out. They are very tall and big and lacked female gender so they mated with other female species. Somehow, their offspring ended up being a deserter. Usually one female ended up with several deserters as its mate. There has been no female deserters for some time already.
....
Ords are creatures such as Pinky and the gate. They don't speak but communicate by other means. They are usually objects or living organisms that absorbed enough magic that made them become some sort of independent being capable of thinking and reasoning.
....
Lion told me that creatures in this world do not look the same and everyone looked different, making each one of them unique. Any offspring may inherit one of its parent's physical characteristics. I asked him if his parents are with him. He sighed and told me that he never knew his parents as he lived in a large building where all sorts of creatures that are young with no parents are living until they are 50 years old. Wait, how old are you? I asked. Lion sort of laughed and told me that he is still young as he is a couple centuries old. There is no exact number as time flows differently here but I estimated that he must be around 500-800 years old, give and take. How many years are you living? He asked me. I told him that I am 25 years old in my previous world. He thought for a bit and tried to compute mentally. He soon gave up and told me there's a huge difference between the two worlds age difference and tried to explain me in simplest way that in my world, he would be older than me around 5-7 years physically (rough estimate) and 10-15 years mentally (rough estimate). Why are there 2 age differences? I curiously asked him. He told me that in this world, there are creatures who grew fast in their physical form but mentally are untrained and unlearned which are step to step process in which many of them are being tested before giving an estimate on their age. In short, having an exact age estimate in this world doesn't exist.
Fascinating.
....
Lion is curious how I looked like. He kept trying to touch me in several places until Pinky who noticed that I'm getting flustered started to throw its fruits at him
Lion asked me how I would move around and how the others in my previous world would communicate and look like.
I told him everything,
Like how we call ourselves humans and are different from animals and plants.
How we tend to inherit several physical characteristics from our parents.
Also how we communicate and provide connection with other humans.
And especially how life can be both unpredictable and monotonous at the same time.
He listened intently and asked several questions in between. He was fascinated that I looked like a "complete object" that fits instead of him having different parts of the body that seemed to attached to a single object. He felt sorry that humans doesn't have any magic, nor have the ability to fly and float but is interested to learn about the fact that humans invented all sorts of ways to get to another location.
I was starting to enjoy this conversation when suddenly he asked me how humans mate and produce offspring.
Cuss word.
