Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 - The joy of discoveries

Several days passed and I learned more about this world.

Lion gave me an estimation of how big this world is.

So to put it simply, the size of earth is like mercury and the size of this world is like Betelgeuse (a super giant star that is 1000x bigger than the sun, give or take), based on my estimation.

Cuss word.

Lion further explained to me that this current world has so much unexplored areas even if several millennia had already passed. Though time flows differently here unlike back on earth.

Don't ask me what is the name of this world. When Lion told me the name, it did not register inside my brain immediately. He had to keep repeating it several times. I still don't get the name. It's like a certain place on earth that has a very long name only make that a bit more longer.

It's times such as this that I refuse to learn it.

....

There's no mandatory written word here since they just use symbols. Just imagine ancient Egypt on Earth.

Though higher educated people tend to communicate using symbols, there's no need to have a specific written language since most of the creatures here understand each other.

The place where we are living is ruled by a so called "Chieftain Monarch". A chief is usually one of the strongest predators and is not usually challenged by other beings unless it is stronger than them. The current one has ruled for several centuries already and so far no one has challenge it yet. Yeah the current chief has no gender and has no mate, so that maybe the reason why there's no power struggle.

Every "citizen" does their own thing except when an event is organized by the chief requiring all citizens to attend or coronation of a new chief. According to Lion, previous chieftains had very short lives compared to the current chieftain so succession and coronation happened frequently. They don't have any idea how long the lifespan of the current chieftain has.

....

How long is your lifespan? I asked Lion suddenly. Lion frowned thoughtfully and cleared his throat. He told me that he has a very long lifespan, several millennia, but doesn't actually know when it will end. He added, that's the reason why change happens slowly here since there's no rush. Time has no power here. It flows without any direction.

I wondered how long am I going to live here before I die. Is my lifespan same as it was on earth?

Why do you look troubled ? Lion asked me, concerned.

I told him that humans usually have an average lifespan of 75 years, give or take.

He suddenly became quiet.

After several minutes of silence, he told me he would do what he can to try and prolong my lifespan.

To be honest, a human's life is short, especially in a world like this.

I want to live longer.

....

I'm starting to adjust here. I sleep when I'm tired, regardless if it's morning or evening. There's no time and the citizens are free to do what they want. It's a bit chaotic but you feel that you can breathe.

My day is more relaxed compared to earth, though I had to admit that I almost didn't do anything. I could just go to the garden whenever I'm hungry and there's no housework (or castle work) to be done since the place is always clean as Lion just snaps his fingers and voila, everything is clean.

There's no cooking to be done too since all I have to do is just go to the garden and pick some fruits (except for the mating fruit).

Sometimes, Lion get so busy with his work that I cannot see him for several hours.

I usually go to the library and look at several books but after trying to understand the symbols, I gave up. Unlike the usual fantasy novels protagonist, I do not magically understand the symbols and no, I don't have any magical talent at all.

I played with Pinky whenever I have nothing do as usual but soon I began to get bored. Like extremely bored. There's nothing to read and I have nothing to do. There's only Lion to talk to but he gets busy with his work and Ghost is away in another expedition.

He sent a package here the other day, some fruits that he recently discovered on his travels. Lion told me that he loves his telescope so much that he doesn't allow anyone to touch it.

I'm sooooo bored.

I already explored the rest of the castle and most of them are empty. I finally understand how to use the room portals and managed to explore the entire place. So far, even though some of rooms are empty, all rooms are well lit. Of course, I don't go exploring by myself. I took Pinky with me who seems happy to accompany me. He looks adorable walking using his roots. It's like having several feet. Though if I saw Pinky like this during my first day here, I would definitely freaked out. Somehow, I got used to the strangeness of this place.

I'm still afraid to go by myself though.

So far, I counted 30 rooms though only 8 are currently occupied. Pinky and i occupied one room which Lion gave to me so I can finally settle down comfortably. Lion occupied the room next to mine though. 3 of the occupied rooms are filled with machines and stuff that Lion uses for work. 2 rooms are bathrooms which we use individually. The last room is of course the library.

My room is empty except for the cloudlike bed and a cabinet to store my clothes which Lion magically made (but I designed it though!). Pinky stand next to the bed while I am sleeping so I feel safe.

I usually eat at the garden but whenever Lion has time, we eat together at the library. It's almost empty except for the rotating bookshelf.

I want to decorate the rooms. I want to design something. Anything, just to relieve my boredom.

So far, Lion made two mirrors for the bathrooms. Lion made a telescope for his own use which he placed inside one of his workrooms.

Pinky and I were sitting down at the garden when suddenly, Lion appeared. He told me that the shopkeeper who we had helped previously had apparently told several beings and they requested our services. He received a summoning scroll that would directly teleport us to their place.

Finally, some excitement.
