Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Confrontation

In the surrounding area, a strong evil energy began to be noticed. They all went to a cave with a lot of miasma. While Miroku and Inuyasha went inside. Akari and Sango waited outside.

"Are you okay, Sango? Do you need to purify the miasma around you?" Sango shook her head.

"Don't worry. I'm fine, don't waste your strength. We don't know what could happen." Akari nodded, and both waited for almost half an hour. But they didn't come out.

When Sango was about to say they should go inside. She saw someone suddenly appear. She looked like Akari.

"Kikyou". Akari said without surprise.

"Inuyasha is inside?" Kikyou asked, but she didn't even wait for their answer. She walked right past and went inside the cave.

"Was she the priestess you have been talking about?" Sango asked.

"Yeah, she is Inuyasha's love, but as you could see, we don't get along very well". Sango's eyes twitched. She wouldn't call that behavior 'don't get along very well.'

Akari stayed outside and did not make any attempt to enter the cave. Because with Kikyou here, it would be very uncomfortable. Also, Akari would probably suffer a punishment soon because of her, so she didn't want to see Kikyou.

After a while, they finally could see Inuyasha and Miroku. As Akari thought, Naraku had kidnapped Kikyou. Inuyasha, visibly affected, went after Naraku. They all followed him and they fell into Naraku's trap. Akari separated from the others. In fact, that was strange. Akari thought she couldn't avoid the 'Illusory Death' of Naraku. After all, it was not as if she didn't have negative thoughts in her heart. Instead, she had a lot of them.

Akari shot at Naraku and destroyed his puppet. But before he disappeared, he made sure that the vines that contained the illusion grabbed her by the hands and feet. They tried to drag her into the abyss, but someone prevented it. Kikyou, who had been pretending to be weak, got up and walked toward her. She took the Shikon fragment and told her.

"I'm really happy to see you like this." Kikyou laughed. "The Shikon jewel was originally purified by me. It's not for the likes of you. I have had enough of you." Akari smiled and said.

"You talk a lot for a living corpse." Kikyou got angry and grabbed her by the neck.

"Do you really think I'm not going to kill you?" Akari chuckled.

"No, I don't think so, and you want to know why? Because it is the same reason I don't kill you, too. Don't forget that you still have one part of my soul inside you. Do you really think I can't take it away from you?" Kikyou's face changed, and she moved away from her.

Akari laughed and said. "Don't be afraid. I won't do that. At least for now. It's just even if you hate me, you should stop trying to kill me every time you see me, because whether we like it or not, Inuyasha will suffer greatly if either of us dies. And I think that neither you nor I want to see him suffer."

Kikyou clicked her tongue and said. "We will see." Kikyou let the vines drag her to the abyss.

This time the world consciousness only advised her. Perhaps because they just talked. When Akari was out of sight of Kikyou. Akari broke the vines. They probably couldn't control her completely because her mind was stronger than the illusion; however, Akari thought she should be cautious anyway, since her negative feelings increased slightly when she was grabbed by the vines. If Naraku became stronger, she probably couldn't resist the illusion.

When Akari didn't feel the presence of Kikyou anymore, Akari went up and found Inuyasha.

"Are you okay? What happened?" Akari smiled and said.

"I'm fine. Where are the others?" Inuyasha told her.

"Miroku is with Sango. But what about you? The Shikon Fragment..." Akari interrupted his words, saying.

"It's with Kikyou. Let's leave it at that." Inuyasha seemed to want to say something. But Akari ignored him and walked toward Miroku and Sango, who had arrived. Her tolerating Kikyou's behavior was one thing, but that didn't mean she didn't get angry, or that she would tolerate Inuyasha questioning her about Kikyou. It was time to draw the line.

"What's wrong with those two?" Sango whispered to Miroku.

"That's Inuyasha's fault, he probably made Akari angry". Miroku glanced at both. "Look at Inuyasha, he looks like a scolded and abandoned dog".

"Who do you call a dog?!" Inuyasha shouted at him.

Miroku cleared his throat, murmuring. "Dogs have great senses...Anyway, what did you say Akari? It's not because of the fragment or Kikyou. She's not the kind of girl who cares about something like that." Sango nodded and said.

"Then it's still your fault." Inuyasha furrowed his brow. He knew that too. Akari never asked or questioned his relationship with Kikyou. He quickly realized she didn't really care what happened between them. However, when Kikyou told him, 'Akari hated me a lot. And I understood her even when she wanted to kill me. But I'm afraid that at some point, only one of the two will be able to stay.' Inuyasha, although he knew Akari had done nothing without reason. He couldn't help but ask. It was completely unconscious.

Actually, he regretted it when he saw the smile disappear from Akari's lips and her eyes turn cold. He wanted to apologize, but Akari didn't give him a chance.

Akari, who was looking at the sky, was thinking about it too. In fact, Miroku and Sango were right. She was momentarily angered by Inuyasha's words, but this was not enough to make her act that way. Indeed, the reason she did so was to find an opportunity to leave. Following the behavior of the original female protagonist, Akari thought of imitating her to see if by doing so, she could get away from the group without worrying about the surveillance of the World Consciousness. However, she couldn't leave now. But after someone came to search for her. It probably would be the right time.
