Chapter 13 - Dorry Better (13)

"Gegyagyagyagya, you are a natural at this," Dorry would say, laughing while watching the flickering Haki in the boy's fist.

The boy would watch as the Haki flickered in and out of existence, as if it was never there to begin with — as if it was running on fumes.

He, however, didn't mind. This was progress — an incredible amount of progress.

He smiled a bit; he had gained access to Haki, and if he could use it to coat his body at the moment of impact, he could shield himself from damage.

He would gaze at the thin layer of water that was over his skin. Hm, yeah, this worked too. The thing was, it was most effective when his flames were off, when on—

"So this is what Haki feels like," he would mutter, more to himself than anyone else.

Suddenly, the sound of an explosion could be heard.

Oh, so this was the time for the giant duel.

Dorry picked up his sword.

"I have drank like a king, now it's time to fight." Gripping his sword, he would walk toward Broggy.

Hm, he was tipsy.

Heh, it was aight.

Now with his new Haki, he would watch as the two giants clashed while he himself tried to keep his Haki on at all times. He knew Haki needed to bloom through battle but... he was far too strong for any of the animals on the island.

A T-Rex appeared behind him, opening its maw and slamming it shut. As the T-Rex's teeth made contact with his skin, the beast's teeth were destroyed, while the boy looked mildly annoyed. Kairo would point a finger at the T-Rex's throat.

As the giants clashed, Kairo could be seen eating a huge chunk of meat, the Rex's head laying somewhere nearby.

That was some good meat. As for when he stopped being scared of the beasts here — that was when he fell so far and barely felt shit. He did continue experimenting and figured out that while his flames were on, nothing could damage him.

He was confident in his durability.

There was nothing on this island that could damage him.

As the two giants clashed once more, their weapons flew into the sky for a bit. Both of them fell on their backs, and then he heard it.

"Gegyagyagyagya"

"Gababababababa"

They were laughing once more, having a good old time. How sweet.

He would jump down from where he was, landing between them.

"6,728 fights."

"6,728 draws," Broggy would say, laying there.

"What are y'all fighting over again?" he would ask, genuinely curious.

"We proud warriors of Elbaf must find a winner. We cannot leave until it is decided."

"And what was this reason for again?"

The two giants looked confused.

"I forgot."

...

"...."

The expression on his face could only be described as sheer confusion. The hell you mean you forgot? Y'all been boxing for 96 years.

"You two have been fighting for 96 years, how could you possibly forget?" he would say, his head turning bug-eyed all of a sudden — don't question it, it was the logic of this world.

"Gegyagyagyagya"

"Gababababababa"

They laughed as if this was the funniest joke ever.

"Whatever it was, it was worth fighting for, and until a winner is decided, we shall never stop fighting," they would say between laughs.

His gaze would land on their blades.

That shit was dull.

Dorry, still laying on the floor, would open his mouth and say,

"Little warrior is gifted; he has made wine."

Broggy's brow furrowed.

"Wine, you say? Little warrior, why did you not offer me some?"

Okay, he could answer that honestly like he wanted, or...

"I wanted to learn Haki, and he seemed like the better teacher, sooo—"

Broggy's frown deepened, as for Dorry—

"Gegyagyagyagya"

Of course, he was laughing.

"Little warrior, do you really believe that Dorry is a better warrior than me, Broggy the Red Ogre?"

As the giant stood in front of him, towering over him, he felt like that one gif of that white guy giving the death blank stare.

"Well, he was able to carve a hole into the mountain with a swing of his blade," he would say in his defense.

And as if to prove himself—

"This is nothing. Anyone with even the slightest knowledge of Haki can do this."

Bullshit, but let him go on.

The man would grab his axe.

"Let me show you how it's done." The man would then swing his axe toward the mountain, and once more he felt that power.

The man would unleash a powerful strike; the attack sliced the mountain clean in half.

"See, little warrior, I possess more strength than him."

It seemed like their asses would compete over anything.

"This is the mountain he already slashed earlier — it was more than halfway cut. This proves nothing. Plus, with his help, I was able to learn this," he would say, coating his hand in Haki.

"Oh, so he only taught you this?"

A demonic smile appeared on Broggy's face. The boy felt scared for his life.

The fuck did he just sign himself up for?
