Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Coming Home

Nadia walked slowly toward the front door because she heard the doorbell ring.

"Hi, Nadia," said someone Nadia knew very well.

Nadia's face, which had been sad, suddenly looked surprised when she saw who was at her door.

"Kay? Why are you here?"

"I heard you were sick, so I came here. I also brought some fresh fruits that are safe for pregnant women to eat."

Kayrav showed her shopping bag.

"Kay, you should just leave. Besides, it's work hours. Why are you here?"

Nadia still looked at Kayrav in surprise.

"Did you forget that I'm the CEO? So, it's up to me whether I go to the office or not. Razel is still at the office, right? So, can I come in?" Kay asked casually.

Nadia took a breath as if to calm herself down.

"Kay, it's not appropriate for you to come to the house of a married woman, especially when her husband is not at home. Kay, you'd better leave."

"Then, is it appropriate for a married man to be intimate with his secretary at the office?"

"What do you mean, Kay?"

Nadia's eyebrows furrowed.

"This is about your husband, Nadia. Razel and Gizel are lovers, only you don't know about it."

"Enough, Kay, why are you always looking for Razel's faults? Kay, our story is over and now I am Razel's wife! How many times do I have to explain this to you?"

Nadia's pale face became even more apparent as she spoke angrily to Kayrav.

Kay stepped closer to Nadia, until the woman took two steps back.

"Our story just began that night, Nadia. I still love her very much and I won't let the woman I love be hurt."

"Kay, I beg you to forget everything that happened. Let me live peacefully with my husband and my unborn child. I believe Razel is a good person and he loves me very much. So, he won't cheat on me," said Nadia softly.

Kayrav shook his head as if he couldn't believe Nadia's words.

"What if I can provide evidence of your husband's infidelity? Would you leave him and live with me?"

Nadia fell silent, staring intently at the man in front of her.

"I will remain Razel's wife. I won't forget the person who saved my life and my family. Kay, you should just leave."

Kayrav seemed stunned by Nadia's words. Nadia seemed to remind Kayrav of his absence when she needed someone the most.

"Nadia, I'm truly sorry."

"Kay, there's nothing wrong with this. This is the fate we must endure. I'm actually happy to see the person you are now. Kay, I want to be a good wife and daughter to my family. I hope you understand that." Nadia gently pushed Kayrav to the door and closed it.

Kayrav stood silently in front of the door, staring at Nadia's door.

"You've never changed. You always think of others before your own happiness."

Kayrav put down her shopping bag and left.

Nadia, who was still behind the door, could only watch Kayrav from the window.

"Kay, you should just forget about me," Nadia whispered as she walked back into the house.

Not long after, someone knocked on Nadia's door again, and Nadia was startled because she was afraid it was Kayrav returning to her house.

Nadia walked toward the door, and when it opened, her face lit up with joy. She immediately hugged the person standing in front of her.

"You missed me, didn't you?"

"Tita, I missed you so much."

For some reason, tears began to fall slowly from Nadia's eyes.

"Hey! Why are you crying? Does this have anything to do with the shopping bag in front of your door?"

Tita's hand pointed to the shopping bag belonging to Kayrav.

"It's from Kayrav, Ta."

"Huh? Kayrav? So, he was here earlier?"

Tita's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Yes, but I told him to leave because I didn't want anyone to see him here. Tita, you go inside first."

Nadia took her best friend's hand and they entered the living room. Tita was still watching her friend, who looked like she was thinking about something.

"Do you want to tell me something, Nad? I'm ready to hear everything. For some reason, I really wanted to come to your house today."

"Aren't you working? Why are you here?"

"I'm free today, so I came here, and I also bought you your favorite cake."

Tita handed her the paper bag, wondering if she should tell her that she had seen Razel with Gizel earlier.

"Thanks, Tita. I'm not feeling well enough to eat right now, but I'll eat it later."

Nadia immediately looked cheerful.

"So what's inside?"

Tita opened Kayrav's shopping bag.

"You take it, I don't want it," Nadia replied quickly.

"Wow! Isn't this your favorite food and drink, Nad? Kay still remembers everything you like."

Tita looked at Nadia with wide eyes once again.

"You take it, I don't want it."

"What's wrong with you, Nad? What did Kay do to you? Because of that hot night? Doesn't he know about it?"

Tita held Nadia's hand. Tita's gaze showed that she was concerned about what her best friend was going through.

"Nad, I'm not defending Kay, but what happened between you two back then wasn't his fault, unlike what you've been telling me."

"Yes, but I already have a husband, and Kay shouldn't be getting close to me anymore, especially since I'm pregnant with Razel's child."

"Nad, do you really love your husband?" Tita asked softly.

Nadia was a little surprised to hear her friend's question.

"Of course I have to love my husband, Ta. He is the one who made my life much better. He saved my family, and you know what happened to me."

Nadia cried as she remembered the incident that almost gave her nightmares and could have destroyed her future.

"Don't think about it anymore."

Tita hugged her friend. She knew exactly what had happened to Nadia.

"Razel is my savior, Ta. His parents are also very kind to me and my family. I owe them a huge debt of gratitude, and the only thing I can do is be a dutiful daughter-in-law and not bring shame to Razel's family. I will do that, Ta."

Tita understood her friend's situation. Nadia was indeed a good woman. She was even willing to sacrifice her own happiness for others.
