Haylen's POV:
As usual, I let my hair, which was caramel blonde and wavy free and wore a tight black mini dress with a pair of black leggings and gucci heels.
I applied a bit of makeup to enhance my look.
looking good would always be my top one priority.
As the only daughter of two billionaire parents, who always get worshipped because of her beauty, I couldn't afford to look simple. That would bruise my ego.
I was Haylen Denvers, the prettiest girl in Moonlight high school who lives a la dolce lita life-a life which no worries.
I was in high mood to dress well too in order to impress Jacean.
I couldn't forget what he did to Zoe, and I couldn't let Zoe down by not getting revenge for her.
Slipping my bag on, I took my leave, not after kissing aunt Katherine on the cheek and informing her about my departure.
. . . . . . . .
Stepping down from the car, I could feel every single eyes on me, and that boosted my confidence.
I loved to be the center of attention; to be appreciated, idolized and praised. And luckily for me, I was pretty-so pretty it made me the belle of Moonlight high school, plus the fact that my parents were filthy rich.
I looked around to see if I could catch sight of Jacean when Zoe appeared out of nowhere.
"Hay!." She held my hand.
"Wassup."
"Did you see Jacean? He's looking drop dead gorgeous! I felt my heart sank when I made eye contact with him."
I pulled my hand away from hers, brows furrowed, " You are still not over him?."
She shrugged, "Obviously."
"But you told me you weren't in love with him anymore?."
She gave a sheepish smile, "That was a slip of tongue."
"Where is he anyways?." I asked, lookin around when I saw him leaning against a wall with his gang of friends.
I patted Zoey to watch the drama, "Keep your eyes on me, I'll definitely make him fall in love with me." I said, with full confidence.
With sauntered steps, I made my way over towards him, keeping a sweet smile on my face.
I paused and leaned against the wall, surprising Jacean and his friends.
I could see a flicker of surprise cross his face, but he soon masked it up.
"Hey." I tilted my head, giving him my best dazzling smile.
One of the guys-I believe was Robin, was turning red due to nervousness. I could remember when Zoey said he had mistakenly blurted out that he liked me.
I didn't really bother though.
Jacean crossed his arms as he looked at me with an unfathomable expression.
"What do you want, Miss Jane?."
I glanced at his friends, "Will you guys excuse us, please?."
In less than a minute, they all disappeared.
I returned my gaze back on Jacean, "It's Haylen, not Jan, Mister Jacean." I stared at his dark, brown messy hair.
I have to say, his hair looked so healthy and luscious.
He shrugged, "Why should I take note of such irrelevant information?."
"I'm not irrelevant."
"We don't talk, so you are irrelevant to me."
He wasn't lying about that. We seldom talk to eachother, even when he and Zoe were still dating.
We could pass eachother without even exchanging glances or greetings.
And it was pretty obvious why Jacean disliked me.
My pride, my spoiled princess life, and also rumours about me being an emotionally detached person.
Or maybe his dislike for me started the time I had bumped into him, spilling my smoothie all over him and instead of apologising, I had yelled at him for not being careful enough.
I didn't really care though.
"Yes, I get, we don't talk," I stepped closer to him, completely aware of his blue-greenish gaze on me, "why don't we change that? We can be friends, let go of the past and start afresh. From beginning."
He didn't say anything as he slapped my hand away, "You are acting strange. Did Zoey tell you something?."
I smiled at his question, "Yes, she said you guys broke up because the relationship was staid."
He arched his brow, wordlessly telling me to go on.
I breathed in, "So I decided to use the opportunity to befriend you."
His eyes were filled with suspicion. The way he observed me like he knew I was telling a lie made me nearly squirm, but I held back. Jacean couldn't make me feel nervous.
"Why do you want to befriend me after our breakup?."
"Because it makes more sense."
"No it doesn't," he pushed himself away from the wall, "I don't know what you are up to, but I'm not ready to befriend a brat, especially not one like you." Were the humiliating words he said before walking away.
I simply stood there, like an idiot, watching his retracting figure.
What was Zoe thinking when she dated him? Sure he was good looking but his behaviour and mouth was damn hideous.
The dude actually walked away from me, rejecting me straightforwardly!
"I told ya, Jacean won't easily give into you based on the fact you guys weren't on good terms." Zoey said as she walked up to me.
I crossed my arm.
"Jacean is just a slow burner, it will only take time, but he will eventually fall in love with me." I said as determination crossed my face.
Zoe just shrugged, "let's make a bet then, if you can get Jacean to fall in love with you before prom, I'll give you Molly."
My eyes widened as I faced her, "Really?."
Molly was what she named her aeroplane. It was the newest aeroplane her father had recently gotten for her from China. I have been begging her for ages to give me, even promised her billions but she refused.
Yes, I wasn't stupid or crazy, but that aeroplane was made by my favourite Chinese engineer, Shen Li. I tried contacting the man to make one for me, but he refused and said he had made it for Zoe because her father and he were really close friends.
Zoe nodded her head, "I promise, just have him wrapped around your finger and I'll give you the aeroplane."
I shook hands with her, "Don't go back to your words, Miss Williams."
