Haylen's POV:
It was no wonder Zoe termed him as an expert.
He might seem quiet, but he was a certified Don Juan.
He inched even closer I could literally feel his breath on my chin. My face.
It was at this point I became alarmed.
"W-what are you doing-."
His lips brushed my forehead, swallowing the rest of my words and sending shivers down my spine.
I stifled, completely aware of my burning face.
Jacean laughed and he got away from me, a small smirk forming by the corner of his lips.
He ran his hand through his air, amusement all over him.
"I bet you don't wish to look at yourself now, cause you look as red as tomato."
"You!." I threw a pillow at him, but he swiftly dodged it and laughed loudly as he walked out of the room.
I covered my face in total disbelief.
Did I just…got myself blushing because of Jacean?
"Damn, damn, damn!." His throaty laugh kept resounding in my head.
Damn, what was wrong with me?
I took in a deep breath. Haylen Denvers, don't forget your mission. Don't forget you plan.
I couldn't get played. I was doing this in exchange of Zoe's aeroplane.
The aero plane I had been wishing on owning and using for years.
I tried to stand up, but I felt my legs were trembling. I sat back and touched my forehead.
Where he had kissed me, the warm, tingling sensation came rushing back to my skin.
Just what the heck was wrong with me?
.
.
Saturday…
Luckily for me, it was the weekend. Saturday.
I groaned in bed, thinking of what fun thing to do today.
Go to Zoe's place? Nah, she was pretty busy yesterday entertaining her date and would be today too.
She was going on a second date with the same guy her mom had set her up with.
Or go to the cinema room and watch Euphoria? That would be boring.
Aunt Katherine wasn't home, I wished she was here, I would loved to talk to her.
Today was Saturday, and most girls my age do have some outing day with their moms.
But, where was mine?
Somewhere on the earth, working and flexing her ass off in the name of doing it for my own good.
So what if she was busy? Couldn't she at least text or call to ask about my wellbeing?
Since I was little, I could recall how busy mom and Dad were to the pint of forgetting my birthdays. They appear a week or two after my birthday with lame excuses like 'we were so busy we didn't remember'' 'Oh, today was your birthday? Forgive us honey for forgetting."
Not first, not second, not third.
I sighed. Yet Aunt Katherine would claim they loved me and was doing what they were doing for my good.
I drew the curtains opened to let in some lights and freshen up in the restroom.
It wasn't long when I finished dressing up than I heard someone knocking downstairs.
I creased my brows. It could be Aunt Katherine since she went over to Louisiana to to meet her daughter who just newly gave birth and would be back after a couple of days.
And it certainly couldn't be any random person because the bodyguards would never let them in.
I walked down the stairs.
"Who's there?."
"It's me!." It was Zoe.
I opened the door, my face masked with surprise.
Indeed, it was her, with a goofy smile on her face.
"Wow wow, what a surprise." I side-stepped to let her in.
She scratched her blonde shoulder length hair, "The date ended earlier than I expected."
We headed to the sitting room, "You mean, it didn't end well?." I asked.
She jumped on the sofa and yawned loudly, "It did. Hay, any edible here?."
"Yeah." I sat beside her, I have a whole menu of sarcasm, a buffet of eye rolls and a desert bar of dad jokes, what will you prefer?."
She gave me a bored look, "Yiu really can be humorless."
"You still love me regardless." I flipped my hair, "All jokes aside, how was your date."
"My date?," she shrugged, "it was cool. I kind off—."
"Like him? Wish to go to Hawaii with him ? Wish to have children with him or visit the kingdom of Molisatee? Which?." I cut her off, mimicking what she always said she'd do with each of the guy her mom set her up with.
"Shut up Hay!." She flung a pillow at me while I caught it.
"Am I lying?."
"You bloody are."
"So, tell me about him I leaned against her.
She shrugged, "He's cool. He's more of an extrovert though, and he lowkey looks like Jiro Wang."
My eyes widened, "Jiro Wang? He's Taiwanese? Damn, I love that man!."
"Hey hey, it's my boyfriend we are talking about here."
"I was talking about Jiro Wang you jealous ass, so the guy, is he a Taiwanese?."
"Half." She placed her legs on the table, "His mom is from Taiwan and his dad is from America."
"You know so much about him already. Do you like him?."
She gave me a sheepish smile, "Can't say, but I felt some kind of spark between us." She covered her cheeks, "Abd he's so well spoken and gentle."
"Funny how you said all these about Jacean too. You're just hopeless, Zoe."
"Best way to ruin the fun, Hay, you mustn't include Jacean in all our discussions. How's it with you guys by the way?."
"We cool." I shrugged, "Still tryna get him to date me."
She observed me for a moment. I arched a brow, "What?."
"Do you like him?."
"Who?."
"Jacean."
I blinked my eyes, "What?."
