Chapter 8 - Chapter Seven

Haylen's POV:

"What are you doing in History class?."

"Learning?." I answered with the same confusion on her face.

"You know what I mean, miss Denvers."I could feel her patienance running out by her tone.

Tsk, old sassy spinster.

I shifted on my seat, "I decided to switch course."

"So Geography isn't up to your standard?." She asked, her face obviously showing she wasn't buying my story.

I shook my head, though I'd prefer learning about countries and environments to learning about people who had long died before my great, great grandfather.

She just eyed me before walking off to teach the class.

I looked around to see Jacean sitting at a corner with a vile face.

Oh heavens, he was mad I was here.

And I was really enjoying the reaction. I was getting out of him.

I tried to take my head for a plan to annoy him, and an idea popped into my mind:

Silently, I threw my pencil under his desk and took excuse from Miss Piper.

"Um, Miss Piper, my pencil fell."

She waved her hand, giving me permission to do what I wanted to do.

Giving a cat smile, I whistled quietly at Jacean, who completely ignored me like I wasn't existing.

I simply shrugged and got up to get the pencil.

Seeing that his legs were outstretched, I crossed and pretended to have tripped and fell, landing on the ground heavily.

I bit back a hiss, that was painful!

I cried out in pain as I sat on the floor, holding my knee.

Everyone faced me.

Jacean's face switched to that of confusion.

"What are you—."

"Miss Denvers?," Miss Piper came over, staring sth my red knee, "What happened?."

I choked back a sob, "Jacean pulled his leg out and made me to fall down." I said, my voice filled with pain.

Jacean got up from his seat, "When the hell-."

"My knee hurts so bad! Geez, I think I sprained it!." I cried out, cutting him off.

"Jacean, take Haylen to the infirmary room, now."

"I didn't do anything."

Miss Piper gave him a hard glare, "Take her to the infirmary, now."

He reluctantly picked me up in a bridal style and I circled my arms around his neck as he carried me out of the classroom.

"You are fucking annoying." He cursed.

Pursing my lips, I looked at him from my peripheral view, "You made me fall."

"I didn't fucking do that."

"You did."

He didn't say anything anymore.

As he kept quiet, I couldn't help but look at his face.

His sharp jawline…the way his curls bounced with each step he took, his red, luscious plump lips…

How would it feel to kiss them?

I closed my eyes. What was I just thinking about now? Kissing Jacean? Was I getting insane?

I tried to make my slightly reddened cheeks not to be noticeable.

Jacean was a pawn for me to play with, not to had such intense thoughts.

Get that into your head, Haylen Denvers.

He dropped me on the bed and went to get the nurse, only to be told that she wasn't around at the moment, so he had no choice but to treat me.

"Lord, I'm tired." He facepalmed.

I glanced at my reddened knee,

"If you don't want to treat it, then don't—."

"So when the wound gets infected to the point you have to amputate it, you'd push the blame on me?." He pulled a first aid box out of the drawer.

"It's not like that—."

"I don't want to hear."

I looked at him speechlesy as he started applying medicine on the wound.

The way he massaged it with gentleness made me feel guilty, and realising that I was marking him miss his lecture over such thing made me feel even guiltier.

While he rubbed my knee, I tried to look everywhere but his face.

But…I couldn't help it.

I gazed at his chestnut hair, which was tousled softly.

How would it feel to touch it To run my hands through it?

I looked away from his hair to his dark, long curly lashes that looked so feminine.

If only my lashes were as long as his, there would be no need to fix artificial ones.

But, how could he have more lashes than me? He was a male for crying out loud! How could he be this fine?

""Are you done staring?." His mocking tone forced me out of my thoughts, and I reverted my gaze away from him, trying not to look embarrassed.

"Who said I was staring?."

"Weren't you? I could feel you practically drooling and oogling at me."

"Aye, I was just wondering if there's any brain inside that head of yours."

He closed the box, not sparing me a single glance, "You sound pretty lame. It's obvious you were oogling at me just few seconds ago."

I refused to give in, "Oogle at you? You are not even Manu Rios, the guy I could actually oogle at."

"Everyone says I look like him. At least you can't deny that." He locked eyes with me.

Damn, those sapphire green irises of his.

"You are so full of yourself Jacean, I'm afraid your confidence is too much, why may made you think you are attractive?." I shot back at him. I was aware I was making a fool of myself asking such foolish question. It was dumb.

Even I know Jacean is good looking. But I didn't want to accept it in his face.

I couldn't give him more reasons to boost his ego.

"Oh?." He suddenly leaned towards me, causing me to back away in order to create distance between us due to the closeness.

The mixed scents of bergamot and lavender from him assaulted my senses, leaving me breathless.

He inched closer, until there was no more room for me to shift to.

He looked down at me, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

"Don't you find me attractive, Haylen?." Sensuality laced in his voice.

I felt breathless, speechless, controlled.
