With a clap of hands, the sound of "clap" echoed across the battlefield, making everyone look toward the two.
"Of course you can be part of my family the friend of my son is my friend too. But first, we have to defend and drive these eels out of our lands," Haru said, looking at his opponent.
"As you say, big brother," Todo replied with a smile on his face then, without thinking, he charged toward Jinpachi, who did the same.
Both exchanged blows switching between defense and attack. The advantage should have been Jinpachi's thanks to having a sword but Todo was no ordinary person.
He avoided the slashes in a fluid way, as if he already knew where they would come from then counterattacked at vital points or the hands, making it difficult for Jinpachi to use his explosions.
Haru, for his part, hadn't started the battle yet they were just staring at each other.
"You're Kushimaru, right? One of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen," Haru asked, looking at him.
"Yeah that's me. It's a shame you can't tell me your name since you're going to die, I'll just forget it," Kushimaru said.
"You're a complicated opponent but if you were easy, I wouldn't like it. Get ready because I won't hold back," Haru said.
Seconds later, he calmed his breathing entering directly into the Third Breath of the Seven Heavens. In a millisecond, he appeared in front of Kushimaru who was caught off guard by the speed.
With a strong grip, Haru slammed him into the ground shattering his mask into pieces as blood spilled from his mouth.
Though for Kushimaru this wasn't too serious. As a Kiri ninja, he had endured worse so with a strong grip on his weapon, he used threads straight toward Haru's feet.
Haru with the Third Breath activated had heightened senses. He saw the threads and dodged letting Kushimaru retreat to start forming hand seals.
"Kirigakure no Jutsu," Kushimaru said as thick fog began to appear, now making things much more complicated for Haru to see the almost invisible threads.
"I didn't expect you to be so strong. Looks like Suna has someone interesting but you'll die here. You should have finished me when you could," Kushimaru said his voice coming from all directions, making Haru look around.
In a quick movement, a thread headed toward Haru who, luckily prepared, dodged before it could pierce him.
He began moving fast so Kushimaru wouldn't trap him in a thread trap but it was already too late. When he tried to move back, he stopped suddenly avoiding killing himself and being cut to pieces.
"Looks like you've realized you're already surrounded. It's a shame I didn't have more fun you were stronger than I thought, but there's a bigger threat than you," Kushimaru said thinking about Todo.
"Chōsenka (Butterfly Harvest)" the threads surrounding Haru began closing in slowly preventing him from moving.
Haru understood this and simply stayed still while his breathing increased little by little. Seconds later, a stronger aura than before surrounded his body like a chakra cloak.
"Fifth Breath of the Seven Heavens activated," Haru said then assuming a stance with his fist at his waist, as if loading a weapon.
Though to Kushimaru's surprise that's exactly what Haru was doing. His previous fist now had a strong glow, and a large amount of chakra gathered in a single punch.
"I won't lie I almost went to the other world but my time hasn't come yet."
The chakra in his fist increased a little more then Haru raised his gaze. His pink eyes locked onto Kushimaru's figure through the fog.
"He can see me?" Kushimaru wondered staring at Haru.
"Breathing of the Seven Heavens: Shinkū-ha - 'Ten' (Vacuum Impact: Heaven)," Haru said then, with a heavy motion, he launched his fist toward Kushimaru who felt all his alerts activate at Haru's gesture.
When Haru's fist reached its farthest point, a powerful wind wave appeared carrying everything in its path including the thick fog, Kushimaru's placed threads, and his body as well.
Nothing in the way was spared everything was cleared in a straight line leaving the earth's sand shaped as if a giant stone had been dragged over it.
Todo who appeared beside Haru noticed the powerful technique Haru had just usedalso noting how Haru's breathing was now agitated instead of calm.
"Big brother focus on your breathing. That wasn't enough to kill him," Todo said now shirtless, since his previous shirt had been destroyed by Jinpachi's explosions.
"Yeah I know thank you for remembering Todo" said Haru relaxing his breathing and getting ready to continue fighting
Looking toward where the blow landed a ball of water appeared from beneath the ground. It was Kushimaru and beside him, Jinpachi.
Kushimaru sumerge from the water prison spat a large amount of blood feeling how the blow hadn't hit directly. His organs seemed to have taken the most damage.
"Hahahaha! Kushimaru looks like death almost took you. Can't you handle that ninja?" Jinpachi laughed looking at Kushimaru though he wasn't in perfect condition to talk either.
"It's not a weakling like I thought. That technique would have killed you," Kushimaru replied wiping his mouth.
"Impossible but I have a proposal. Since you're not in condition if you want to get out alive, we'll have to fight together. You know we'll win faster that way, right?" Jinpachi asked.
"I know though I don't like your style, we make a good duo. Just this once, we'll do it," Kushimaru said.
While they talked, Todo and Haru did the same though Todo was now happier than ever.
"They're done this just got more interesting. Come on, big brother let's dance with our enemies," Todo said running toward both with Haru moving ahead.
Jinpachi leaped over Haru though instead of dodging, Haru caught the descending sword, and an explosion appeared.
"Clap"
No even the smoke went away when Todo came into view of a surprised Jinpachi who got hit by a straight kick to his face
"Clap"
Not enough twist the new sound of the cla Haru appeared or top of the hutt Jinpachi delivering an axe kick to knocking him to the ground. Kushimaru seeing Haru in the air didn't hesitate to throw his sword toward him knowing that in th air no body can evade the blow
"Clap"
The sword that's was supposed to hit Haru didn't get to connect because Todo change place with Haru and already knowing what was coming Todo in the aire grab Kushimaru's sword before throwing it back at him who dodged by luck and his experience of being a shinobi.
"Clap"
Though another clap was hear it was all part of the plan because now, instead of the sword behind Kushimaru, it was Haru with his fist ready connecting directly with Kushimaru's back sending him flying with Haru's strength.
And for Jinpachi's bad luck who was getting up from his previous combo he was hit by Kushimaru's flying body both crashing to the ground.
"All of that was awesome your technique is the best. I've never thrown such satisfying punches," Haru said high-fiving Todo.
"Big brother my technique isn't just the best. My intelligence and my million-IQ are. Now let's finish this two fewer Mist Swordsmen is a gift I won't let go," Todo said with Haru nodding to deliver the final blow.
Haru with a strong blow knocked Kushimaru out completely leaving him unconscious on the ground. Todo did the same though with more force knocking out Jinpachi.
With both out of combat and the main battle of the Suna ninjas against Kiri having ended Todo headed toward both swords to take them.
Though to his surprise they had disappeared.
"Looks like I arrived just in time," a calm voice said next to the bodies of Jinpachi and Kushimaru.
Todo looking at him a name came to mind upon recognizing him.
"Kijin no Sairai, leader of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, Mangetsu Hōzuki. I didn't expect to see you here," Todo said arms crossed, looking at him.
"Same to you, Todo. Despite telling them not to face you look how they ended up," Mangetsu replied creating two clones that grabbed both unconscious ninjas.
"Did you changed your type, the last time I made it clear which is the best," Todo said waiting for the response.
"It's still the same I'm more into melons than peaches. I hope I don't see you on the battlefield because I'll have to send you to the other world. See you," Mangetsu said his body starting to turn into water and second later he disappear.
Along with the two unconscious swordsmen.
Todo only sighed then looked at Haru who had deactivated his breathing feeling the energy drain from using it.
"Todo why did we let him go? Between us, we could have stopped him," Haru asked.
"Mangetsu isn't like the other swordsmen. He masters all the swords and is a very dangerous kid able to change fighting styles in seconds and alternate between them," Todo explained.
"I see. So in a 1v1 between you and him who would win?"
"Me because someone who prefers melons over peaches couldn't beat me," Todo said.
Looking at all the gathered Suna ninjas, Todo addressed them.
"What are you all staring at? Get to cleaning the area we're making this our camp while we're here," Todo ordered as everyone quickly moved avoiding the wrath of Todo
"I'll make the report of what happened now to send it to the village. Now you're the leader of this front, Todo. If you need anything, let me know," Haru said looking for a place to sit and write.
"Don't worry, big brother I'll take care of these ninjas. Hey you! Don't throw those things away they're mine!" Todo said to one of the Suna ninjas.
With Mangetsu
After a long journey, he arrived at a Kiri outpost to leave both swordsmen.
Sensing a presence behind him, he turned to look.
"What do you need, Ameyuri? Weren't you on a mission?" Mangetsu asked.
"I just got back. I see Jinpachi and Kushimaru didn't have a good time," Ameyuri said while both Kiba swords remained at his waist, small sparks of lightning occasionally coming from the blades.
"They faced Aoi Todo and another ninja who seemed quite strong. I imagine they got cocky and were easily defeated because of that," Mangetsu explained.
"I see. Too bad they're so weak or did I forget? I came to tell you to return to the village. The Mizukage needs you."
"Alright. Stay here until both recover. Though they're weak we need them for this war. When they're fine, send them to the Konoha front," Mangetsu said his body starting to turn into water as he disappear.
Leaving Ameyuri Ringo to take care of both swordsmen.
In Suna
Chiyo upon receiving the news only nodded at the reports.
With Todo accepting to fight in the war, it was a great support for Suna and the others could focus on Iwa and leave the east to Todo.
After sharing the news with the other advisors, Chiyo made another letter to send to the Iwa front to inform the Kazekage.
With all this, things were heating up even more and the war that once seemed endless had just become much more interesting.
