Chapter 35 - Chapter 35

The next day.....

Just blue sky, soft wind, and seven Dragon Balls glowing peacefully in a circle in the middle of Capsule Corp's yard. Bulma had insisted we use the backyard this time because, and I quote, "If anyone uses the Dragon Balls, anywhere else, than we'll know they are a bad guy."

Everyone stood around the Dragon Balls.

As for me?

I was still wearing Frieza's body.

smug-looking by default.

It was funny without context.

"Alright," I said, raising my hands. "Let's fix this before i start wishing for imortality."

I called out loudly.

"Shenron!"

Lightning cracked. Wind roared. The sky darkened as the colossal dragon burst from the spheres, coils twisting across the heavens, red eyes blazing like twin suns.

"I am Shenron," he intoned. "State your wishes....oh it's you guys, hi again"

Everyone stared up.

I stepped forward.

"For my first wish," I said, "return my soul to my original body. Restore my human form."

Shenron's eyes glowed crimson.

"Very well."

A beam of divine light descended over me. For a moment, my vision blurred. My senses twisted. I felt my consciousness pulled, stretched, and then....

Snap.

I stumbled forward.

My feet touched the ground differently.

Heavier. Taller. Warmer.

I looked down.

Human hands.

My clothes, restored. My heartbeat, steady. My breathing, natural.

Behind me, Frieza's body stood motionless for a half-second… then crumbled into gray dust, scattering into the wind.

Vegeta smiled with quiet satisfaction.

Goku clapped, "Nice!".

I wiped sweat off my brow.

"Never doing soul gymnastics again," I muttered.

Shenron's voice rumbled.

"Your first wish has been granted. State your second wish."

I lifted my head.

"For my second wish… teleport the Supreme Kai Shin to this location."

Shenron's eyes flared again.

"Granted."

A pillar of white light struck the ground before us.

When it faded, Shin stood there, wide-eyed. Kibito appeared beside him a heartbeat later, already hovering near Shin as he got ready to fight.[did he teleport here]

Shin blinked once.

Twice.

Then slowly turned to look at me.

"…Ben," he said.

I waved cheerfully.

"Hi."

The others watched curiously. Goku scratched his head. Bulma whispered to Vegeta. As Vegeta crossed his arms like he already knew this would be stupid.

Shin floated forward, expression cautious.

"Why have you summoned me, mortal?"

I spread my arms.

"It's time you repay my favor."

His eyes narrowed.

"…I do recall owing you one."

I pointed at him.

"Shin, just talk normally, the whole mortal talk thing doesn't suit you, my dude"

Behind me, Goku whispered to Piccolo, "He's not wrong."

Piccolo nodded once.

Shin exhaled, regaining composure. "Very well. What do you desire?"

I looked straight into the eyes of Shin.

"I want to try the Z Sword."

Silence.

Kibito's jaw dropped slightly. Shin's eyes widened.

"…The Z Sword?" Shin repeated.

"The one stuck in your world," I said. "The legendary blade no mortal can pull out."

Vegeta snorted. "Hmph. He just said no mortal can pull it out, is he stupid....nevermind."

Goku leaned back. "BUHAHAHA!"

Ben: >:(

Shin hesitated.

"That blade is not a toy. It is sealed for a reason. No one has ever moved it. Not in millions of years."

I grinned.

"Then it's about time someone tried."

Shin studied me for a long moment. Then, perhaps because he remembered the part where I casually erased Majin Buu in one blast, he nodded.

"…Very well."

He placed his hands on my arm.

"Kai-Kai."

poof.

.....

Reality folded.

Space stretched like silk being pulled through a ring.

In an instant, we stood somewhere else entirely.

A sky of deep violet stretched overhead. Strange stars gleamed motionless. The ground beneath us was smooth, grassy plain, that goes on forever.

The air felt different.

Cleaner, maybe.

Kibito inhaled reverently.

"Welcome to the Sacred World of the Kai."

"WOW" i said.

Shin ignored him.

Ahead of us, on a small raised island, stood a single stone pedestal.

And embedded within it..

The Z Sword.

Kibito leaned toward Shin.

"Lord Shin… can this mortal truly pull it out?"

Shin folded his arms.

"We will soon see."

The two turned toward me.

I flew up to it.

When I reached the pedestal, I stood before the sword.

Up close, it was enormous. Likely taller than me, even. And as thick as a tree trunk.

I placed my hands around the hilt.

Cold.

For a moment, I simply stood there, breathing slowly.

Then...

I pulled.

The air rippled.

The pedestal cracked.

And with a sound like mountains breaking…

The sword slid free.

Shin's eyes went wide.

Kibito gasped audibly.

I lifted the Z Sword easily, resting it across my shoulders like it weighed nothing.

"Huh," I said. "Cool Sword."

Shin floated forward in disbelief.

"You… actually pulled it out…"

Kibito whispered, "Impossible…"

I turned, smiling.

"Guess the legends are more like suggestions, than fact."

Shin was still processing the moment when..

I shifted my grip.

As Placed my other hand on end of the blade.

And bent.

The metal resisted for a fraction of a second.

Then....

CRACK.

The Z Sword snapped cleanly in half.

Silence detonated across the Sacred World.

Kibito screamed.

"NOOOOOOO!"

Shin's voice cracked.

"THE Z SWORD! THE HOLY TREASURE OF THE KAI"

I held the two broken halves.

"Oops, my bad" , >:)

Golden light spilled from the broken blade. Wind howled across the world. Energy spiraled upward into the sky.

And from the center of that light...

A small figure emerged.

An elderly Kai with white hair, wrinkled face, and sleepy eyes floated gently down to the ground.

He stretched his arms.

"Ohohohoho… Finally. Free at last."

Shin froze.

"…A... Supreme Kai?"

Kibito immediately knelt.

The old Kai yawned.

"Goodness. Been stuck in that sword for eons. My back is killing me."

He turned to me.

"And you, young mortal, have my thanks."

I scratched the back of my head.

"No problem."

The Elder Supreme Kai floated closer, studying me with ancient eyes.

"You wield god ki… but you are no god."

I smiled.

"Long story."

He nodded sagely.

"Short stories are fine too."

I thought about it.

"…I train a lot." as i shrug.

The Elder Kai laughed.

"I like him."

Shin finally recovered enough to speak.

"Elder… the Z Sword…!"

The old Kai waved his hand.

"That old thing was just my prison. You were never meant to use it anyway."

Kibito looked faint.

Shin exhaled slowly, divine dignity returning.

"…Then I owe you a debt, mortal. You freed our Elder."

I nodded.

"About that."

The Elder Kai raised an eyebrow.

"Oh? You want a request?"

I stepped forward.

"Just one favor."

He smiled.

"k."
