Chapter 39 - Chapter 39

Universe Seven was ahead. Confidence was high. Spirits even higher. Even Monaka had stopped trembling… mostly.

Across the platform, Universe Six's final fighter stepped forward.

Tall. Lean. Expression unreadable. Purple skin. Crimson eyes that didn't blink.

Hit.

He popped into the arena.

Vegeta stepped onto the battlefield, cracking his neck.

"So," he muttered, "you're the last one."

Hit said nothing.

The angel referee floated between them.

"Match resumes. Vegeta of Universe Seven versus Hit of Universe Six. Begin."

The bell rang.

And Hit vanished.

....

Vegeta's eyes widened just enough to show surprise, then he vanished too, appearing high above the arena, scanning for his opponent.

Nothing.

A faint whisper behind him.

Then...

Pain exploded in his ribs.

Vegeta gasped as an unseen blow launched him across the arena. He skidded, caught himself, and snapped upright.

"Where...?!"

Another blow. This time to his jaw.

Another to his spine.

Hit wasn't just fast.

He was appearing, striking, disappearing again in gaps smaller than thought.

Vegeta roared and released a blast in every direction. Energy surged outward, shaking the arena.

But Hit simply wasn't there.

Beerus leaned forward, interest sharpening his lazy posture.

"Oh? So that's Hit."

Whis nodded lightly.

"if seems, he's skipping time."

Piccolo's eyes narrowed.

"Meaning… Vegeta can't react. The attacks occur in intervals that no one can react to."

Goku scratched his head.

"That sounds unfair."

Piccolo agreed.

"it is."

....

Vegeta refused to fall quietly.

He transformed.

Saiyan God.

Red divine aura erupted around him. His power surged, forcing the arena floor to crack beneath his feet.

He closed his eyes, as he started sensing around him.

He swung where he felt Hit would be.

For a moment, contact was made.

A glancing hit.

Hit slid back a step.

Vegeta smirked.

"I can still hit you."

But then...

Hit's eyes glowed faintly.

Time skipped again.

Vegeta froze mid-motion, unable to perceive the missing instant.

When time resumed, Hit's fist was already buried in Vegeta's stomach.

The force folded him over. Blood left his lips.

Another skipped moment.

A knee to his face.

Another skip.

An elbow to his spine.

Vegeta's god aura flickered violently. His transformation broke. He crashed to one knee, gasping.

Goku stepped forward instinctively.

"Vegeta!"

Piccolo stopped him.

Vegeta forced himself up.

"I… am… a Saiyan…, i....refuse...so....easily"

Hit's expression didn't change.

Another skip.

Vegeta collapsed flat onto the arena, unmoving.

The angel referee raised a hand.

"Vegeta is unable to continue. Winner: Hit of Universe Six."

Silence.

Vegeta lay unconscious.

Cabba watched from Universe Six's side, a bit worried.

Beerus clicked his tongue.

"That was Bullshit"

....

Piccolo stepped forward, cape swaying.

"I'll go next."

I raised a hand.

"Let me."

Piccolo glanced sideways.

"You sure?"

I nodded.

"If I wait, there might not be a tournament left."

Piccolo smirked faintly.

"…Fair enough."

I stepped past him and walked into the arena.

The stone beneath my boots was still cracked from Vegeta's fall.

Across from me, Hit stood motionless.

Waiting.

The referee lifted his hand.

"Next match. Ben of Universe Seven versus Hit of Universe Six. Begin."

The bell rang.

...

Hit's eyes flashed.

The world froze.

Sound vanished. Light stood still. Dust hung motionless in the air.

Time had stopped.

In frozen reality, Hit walked calmly toward me. His footsteps made no sound. His expression was cold confidence.

He raised his fist, aiming directly at my temple.

One clean strike would end it.

He swung.

....

And his fist met my knuckles.

A shockwave rippled through the frozen air.

Hit's eyes widened.

I moved.

Inside stopped time.

Hit jumped back, sliding across unmoving dust.

Impossible.

No one should move inside his domain.

But I could.

....

We moved through a silent world of frozen reality, fists meeting in a place where motion should not exist.

Punch. Block. Kick. Parry.

No sound.

No wind.

Only intention and will.

Hit slid back again, eyes sharper now.

I shrugged.

Hit stopped moving.

His technique's limit approached , a few seconds of stopped time at most.

I smiled.

'My turn.'

...

Hit froze mid-run.

I walked casually over to him.

He couldn't move. Couldn't think. Couldn't resist.

I tapped his shoulder.

'Sorry about this.'

I lifted him like a statue and carried him gently to the edge of the arena. I set him just outside the boundary line.

Then I walked back to my starting position.

Hands in pockets.

Whistling silently in a soundless universe.

When I reached my original spot, I exhaled.

"ZA WORLD"

....

Sound slammed back.

Wind roared.

Dust fell.

And Hit dropped outside the arena, landing on the ground below.

The angel referee's eyes widened.

Then he raised his hand.

"Hit has left the ring. Winner: Ben of Universe Seven."

Goku pumped his fist.

"Yes!"

Piccolo smirked proudly.

Vegeta, now conscious again, crossed his arms and nodded once.

"…Not bad, kid"

Beerus leaned back, pleased.

"I win, again."

....

On the opposite side, Champa stood trembling.

"What?! That's impossible! Hit never loses!"

Vados fanned herself gently.

"Reality seems to disagree, Lord Champa."

Champa turned to Beerus.

"You cheating furball! That human is broken!"

Beerus grinned.

"Oh? You didn't complain when Hit was beating my Saiyan into paste."

Champa sputtered.

"That's different!"

Beerus stretched lazily.

"Anyway. I'm no longer interested in your silly egg-laying bird."

Champa froze.

"…What?"

Beerus raised an instant noodle cup.

"I found something superior."

He looked at me, as i pulled three more cups from my coat pocket and held them up.

Beerus's eyes sparkled like a child's.

"My precious stash…"

He took one reverently and tossed another to Champa.

"Here. Taste real cuisine."

....

Champa stared at the cup suspiciously.

"This… is food?"

"Add hot water," I instructed.

Champa did so.

A minute later, he slurped.

His eyes went wide.

His tail stiffened.

He devoured the noodles in seconds, broth and all.

Silence.

Then...

"…Another...NOW"

Beerus laughed.

"No."

Champa grabbed the empty cup.

"This is better than my bird's eggs."

Beerus smirked.

"And Earth has thousands of foods better than this."

Champa's expression changed instantly.

"…Earth."

Beerus's smile vanished.

"No, you can't have it."

Champa growled.

"I want Earth."

Beerus crossed his arms.

"i said no, you fatty"

Champa puffed up.

"than i'll take it, by force!"

Beerus leaned forward, nose nearly touching his twin's.

"Try, me"

Divine pressure rolled outward. The arena trembled. Even Whis and Vados raised eyebrows.

Goku whispered to Me.

"…We're fighting over noodles now."

I nodded.

"Yep."

Vegeta sighed.

....

Whis clapped gently.

"Well then. Since Universe Seven won, the Super Dragon Balls remain with Lord Beerus."

Vados smiled.

"Indeed. A fine tournament."

Champa huffed.

"…I'm not done with you yet, you bastard"

Beerus smirked.

"I look forward to your next culinary discovery,."

That's when a small child popped up in the arena below.....
