"This dream again."
Elysia strolled through the center of a world that felt alive. The bustling streets were filled with traffic, and the flowing crowds seemed brimming with hope for tomorrow.
She admired the view as if no one else existed, even skipping playfully on her tiptoes and performing a gentle pirouette.
Perhaps it was because Kaito had unconditionally taken her side during the day that the contents of this dream were devoid of disaster. "This is exactly what a beautiful girl's dream should look like!"
"You seem very happy."
As the one who had "discovered" Elysia, Mobius had no choice but to follow her.
As an organization that had just transitioned from archaeology, MOTH still held a lofty, almost spiritual reverence for the proverbs of the Pre-civilization.
On that day, He fell from the heavens; the people on earth looked up, and thus they saw the starry sky...
Elysia truly looked like the divine maiden from the prophecy—always smiling, always hopeful. One had to wonder how long this reverence would last, given that Elysia was exposing far too much of her "human" side.
"Oh, Professor! You're here too."
Elysia was in high spirits; after all, it was a treat to reunite with an old friend in a dream.
"Want to go grab dinner together?"
Mobius sighed. She needed to settle Elysia's status once and for all; otherwise, her laboratory would be drowned out by the constant nagging of those "old fossils" in leadership. It seemed everyone truly believed she and Elysia were close friends.
"Does this count as a date?"
Elysia put her hands behind her back and leaned forward playfully, her eyes full of expectation.
Mobius remained expressionless, giving zero reaction. "What do you want to eat?"
"Hmm, I want a Flawless Realm, an Eternal Paradise... I want all the romance and beauty in the world, along with all the sweet memories and the future. So, how about the Professor starts by giving me a smile?"
"The most beautiful expression in the world is surely a smiling face."
Elysia walked down the street, her enthusiastic voice seemingly unaffected by the passersby, vibrant and bold.
Mobius's expression was stiff. Feeling the gazes of others, she felt a twinge of social death.
"Professor, you're really not cute at all," Elysia shook her head. "If it were my little brother, he'd definitely join in on the silliness with me. After all, life is short and the world can be cold; children's dreams only seem 'cringy' to people like you."
When Kaito was little, he used to follow her around calling her "Wife-Sis," though he certainly didn't do that anymore... boys are such heartless creatures.
"Little brother?"
Mobius instantly caught the keyword. Aren't you an orphan?
"My brother from the other world." Elysia tilted her snow-white neck proudly.
Mobius didn't know how to respond to that.
"He's very well-behaved. If you met him, Professor, you'd definitely become best friends."
By then, Kaito probably won't keep nagging me about that 'One Big Happy Family' group chat.
Best friends? Mobius didn't comment. To her, "friend" was a rather luxury term in her social network.
Meanwhile, the "well-behaved" Kaito walked unhurriedly into the facility's main control room.
Before anyone could scream or emit shrill electronic static, invisible Imaginary hands choked the life out of them in the void. Not a single drop of blood hit the floor.
"Siberia? This dev team really doesn't want to get licensed, do they? Using a real-world location for such a bloody, violent game..."
Expertly operating the console, Kaito dug through the system logs and eventually found the primary projects.
"Basic theoretical research on Honkai energy, research on Honkai-human integration, and Honkai-weapon integration."
"It says 'Survivor,' but I'm clearly positioned as a Herrscher. Looks like the Honkai IP Boss Bronya wrote really was too wholesome, which is why the fan-made works are full of this dark, violent stuff."
Kaito scrolled down to find the funding source. Since it was just a game, the secrets weren't buried that deep; he easily found the laboratory's affiliation.
"Project supporters... Europe?"
"Bet it's the British again. They've always had the most experience profiting off human misery."
He complained casually as his Demon Dragon tore open the roof of the tower. Kaito stood at the summit, gazing out at the land. It was a vast, white expanse—desolate and devoid of life.
"What a trash map! Did they really need to be this realistic about Siberia being sparsely populated?"
Although it was a "high-tech tower," there were fewer than two thousand people inside, and the snowy plains outside were so vast he couldn't see a single living soul.
"I can't even farm enough mobs to trigger an evolution. Garbage map."
Survivor: Kaito
Level: 6
Skills: Twin Familiars, Void Apostle 4
Attributes: Attack Speed 2
The Demon Dragon took to the skies again. It looked majestic, but in reality, it was just scouting for information.
"It's called the 'Void Realm,' but it's actually very closely linked to reality."
Kaito stepped out onto the empty air, walking higher. Strangely, in such extreme cold, he didn't feel a thing. Is this even a survival game?
"If the Imaginary Space can easily affect reality..."
Snap.
Spears of Subspace manifested at hundred-meter intervals, their nodes extending and shifting between real and imaginary. They took root in the ground until they reached the edge of his current control limit.
They vibrated in unison. The spatial fluctuations caused the ground to tremble violently. Cracks spider-webbed across the tundra, followed by the shattering of tectonic plates. He couldn't even guess how many experience points this would generate.
"Wait!"
Kaito suddenly realized a flaw: he needed to collect those experience points. If the crust shattered, he couldn't exactly go digging through the dirt for individual XP drops.
"Logically, I should find the most populated city."
But since the devs had actually put effort into making something resembling a main quest, he decided to follow the plot for a bit.
"Europe should be that way." Kaito pondered for a moment, then smiled and pointed. "This way?"
Completely phased out and traveling through the Void, the Spears of Subspace swarmed out from the ripples in the sky behind him, raining down indiscriminately.
"Even though my main skill is only Level 4, I already have the confidence to clear the game."
How do you lose with Space powers?
Stupid devs. Did they think Stage 1 was too hard, so they gave out god-tier skills for Stage 2?
"Honkai, descend!"
High in the heavens, the Imaginary Space thinned the ozone layer. As his focus intensified, he could even faintly sense meteors floating in outer space.
"If I lose this run, I'll eat my headset!"
"Benares, let's head to Europe and—"
Before his arrogant boast could finish, a wave of heat—roaring like a raging fire—slammed into him.
"MOW THEM ALL DOWN!"
Kaito didn't have time to complain. His body instinctively flickered through the Imaginary Space. His Level 4 main skill finally hit its limit; it couldn't keep up with his near-eighteen-year-old reflexes.
Reappearing, Kaito was now standing atop the head of the dragon—the one fans called "Bella." The blood on his abdomen evaporated instantly under the intense heat, the wound cauterizing shut.
He looked down at the man on the ground, covering his face with one hand.
"Heh... hehe... HAHAHAHAHA!"
Kaito chuckled lowly, then broke into a loud laugh.
"It looks like you can't fly, Boss!"
I spent all day frustrated in the real world; you think I'm gonna let you bully me in a game too?
Ripples filled the sky behind him as countless unstoppable weapons began to emerge, blotting out the sun.
"In the end, you're just an ant, hmph—"
Before he could finish his taunt, the man violated every law of physics Kaito had ever learned. A shockwave from a punch arrived in the high heavens before the man even reached him.
"Wha—?"
