Elysia: ...

Kalpas: ...

"Reporting to the Commander: the investigation of this village is complete. The eccentric known as Kalpas is indeed not a local."

"He appears to have come from... the heavens?"

A being from beyond the stars, who voluntarily allowed himself to be bound, possessing a face as mysterious as the night sky. And after the new Herrscher scattered the Spears of Subspace—effectively issuing a formal challenge to the world—he had accepted the invitation with grim delight.

Aside from the gender not matching, he seemed to fit that ancient prophecy perfectly.

Elysia said nothing. She remembered this place. Kalpas had been tied to a pillar here, his body covered in scars, yet the villagers insisted he was there of his own volition. And he was—because unless he willed it, no one besides Elysia could ever hope to bind him to a post.

She touched the pillar; she could still faintly see the bloodstains left behind from years ago.

"Commander Elysia, the intel was wrong."

Trace (Hime) ran over, a fresh scar now cutting across his face. He looked less like a boy and more like a hardened man now.

"The Herrscher didn't go toward the population centers?"

Elysia blinked, surprised. This was diverging from her previous dreams... though it didn't confuse her much. Dreams are like that; if they remained exactly the same, it would just mean she was cursed.

Trace let out a bitter laugh, shaking his head. "Europe hid the truth. Although that lab was located in Northern Asia, it was indeed backed by European interests."

And they had been guarding the "theoretical path" of the Herrscher, only to realize they were facing the wrong direction.

Elysia fell silent. "They actually admitted to it?"

This genuinely surprised her. Unlike previous timelines, the overwhelming combat power displayed by the Herrscher seemed to have altered the narrative flow. Or perhaps, the total annihilation of Mu's Capital had terrified them into honesty.

"...Because the Herrscher has already arrived," Trace grumbled.

Elysia froze again. That was impossible! Although dreams change, Kalpas was the superhuman who was a lock to solo-kill the Ice Herrscher; how could he fail to stop the HoV... wait. This was the Herrscher of the Void. If he wanted to leave, no one could keep him there.

"Can we contact Kalpas?"

In the early game of her dreams, the strongest combat assets were herself, Kalpas, and then the mushroom bombs. She needed to recruit Kalpas first; like in reality, he was a man with a sharp tongue but a soft heart.

Trace's expression turned subtle. He hesitated for a moment before speaking: "Kalpas has already been KIA."

The Void Herrscher's skill set was too broken. Time stops, energy flooding, and internal spatial resonance—the masked man's invincible stats had crumbled under the sheer volume of True Damage.

Elysia's voice rose instinctively: "Impossible!"

You have to be joking. How could the Herrscher of the Void solo-kill Kalpas?

But it was a fact. After reviewing the satellite footage, she could only accept the reality of this massive HoV buff. Usually, the HoV shouldn't know how to use tactics; in the past, she had resolved the issue without exposing any of her own secrets.

It's all Kaito's fault! Even a Herrscher gets smarter when they have his face. Damn it.

"Contact Mobius immediately. To prevent further disasters, we need to bring MEI and Kevin in ahead of schedule."

Large snowflakes began to drift from the sky. In the biting north wind, she stood by the pillar that had bound Kalpas for years, facing the storm. If only Kalpas were still tied to that pillar.

The dream was finally beginning to change.

"It's just a dream anyway... why should a beautiful girl follow the orders of those old fogies?"

Kaito had already bossed her around all day at home. If she couldn't even run things her way in her own dreams, what was the point of dreaming at all?

"Laughable. Without the bonds of friendship, dreams, or a future, how do you expect to stand against a God?"

Standing at the legendary site of the Sword in the Stone, Kaito was busy researching the "Familiar" function. The Honkai IP contained many obscure details hidden in the corners of its lore. For instance, Honkai Beasts weren't originally that strong in the prehistoric era; they only evolved their bullet-resistant shells as human technology advanced.

As a writer for Reason Studios, Kaito hoped this fan-game followed that basic rule. He was currently hand-modifying his Honkai Beasts to prevent his minions from being easily swiped by mobs.

"First, they need a high-density shell." At the very least, they should require an anti-tank rocket to crack, just like in the actual plot. Secondly, his "Twin Familiars" needed a massive buff; they couldn't be like standard Emperor-class beasts that 5,000 fully-armed soldiers could take down.

He hadn't played a "nurture" game in a while, but Kaito could still appreciate the thrill of upgrading a pet.

"Benares, from now on, we raise the war banner together. We cross the wasteland and devour the world!"

He wiped away the dragon's wounds and manifested armor over its scales, making it invulnerable. He pulled the "Sword in the Stone"—whether it was a decorative prop or not—and pointed it toward the British capital.

"But first, we go and destroy everything here."

"I have no intention of pursuing the matter of the laboratory further. People won't understand a God's mercy. Quite the opposite—"

"This place will serve as the prelude to the Divine Extinction."

Sonic booms echoed in the sky, but the latest tracking missiles arrived before the sound did. Missiles traveling at Mach 20 descended from above. Hmph, even Glitter Tiga only flies at Mach 10 or so. Space hicks!

Snap.

"I said: let there be light."

The ripples in the sky swallowed everything. In the face of spatial power, all long-range attacks were declared null. Instead, massive explosions rocked the tops of the city's landmark skyscrapers, sending flames into the clouds.

Unless someone could sever his connection to the Void... but the Herrscher of Binding wouldn't appear until later. Kaito wasn't worried, and besides, Binding couldn't catch him anyway.

"This is how a hack-and-slash rogue-like is supposed to be played!"

Kaito laughed heartily, patting Benares on the head. "Bella, help me set the stage for something grand."

He paused the game, trying to alt-tab to a screenshot tool, but this rogue-like was incompatible with background apps. He tried to crack the restriction but failed.

"Definitely not a small studio's work then. No wonder they didn't leave contact info; pure labor of love."

He hopped back into the game, his figure appearing high in the sky. His experience bar was climbing steadily. Even though the local population wasn't that high, a Space-user didn't care about distance.

"In Genesis, God divided the heavens and the sea. In Extinction... I suppose I should return them to Chaos."

"Benares."

He called out softly. The sea level below dropped abruptly and then surged back as he manipulated the spatial nodes. The waves were mountainous, yet they couldn't even reach the shore; the seawater vanished into the void only to be dumped back in from another part of the ocean.

Naturally, the water didn't just disappear. The ecological cycle was thrown into utter chaos as the sea fell from the heavens and the horizon inverted. The Demon Dragon flapped its wings, its Absolute Zero breath attempting to freeze the ocean.

Unfortunately, Kaito had overestimated Benares. The sheer volume of falling seawater was more than the dragon could freeze. Kaito's face darkened. If you don't freeze it, all my experience points are going to be washed away!

"Forget it. Let's just follow the main quest. Grand spectacles are a waste of XP."
