Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Blind Box Opening

The code modifications Luca had in mind were, of course, not as simple as changing voice commands.

As mentioned before, [Baymax] could be more than just a medical robot.

With just a few tweaks, it could also be a formidable combatant.

Considering that recording combat data, modifying command protocols, and building external armor for Baymax would all take considerable time, Luca decided to wait and do it later.

Right now, what he wanted to do most was naturally...

"Baymax, come help me open these packages!"

Looking at the densely packed clutter in the living room, Luca felt a headache coming on.

With all this random junk, it feels like opening blind boxes.

Baymax, having received the command, tilted its head in confusion, looking at Luca with incomprehension.

"My database does not contain a command for 'opening packages'."

"It's fine. Watch my movements, learn first, then help."

Baymax straightened up immediately, its large eyes unblinkingly tracking Luca's every move.

(●—●)

Actually, most of the items in the living room were daily necessities Luca had casually named and had his subordinates purchase.

From firearms and ammunition to infant toys and various electronics.

Basically, Luca scrolled online, and whatever caught his eye, he ordered his people to buy or pick up from stores.

A small portion consisted of items Luca suspected might be "Core Components" based on sci-fi gadgets from movies and anime he had seen in his past life.

Things like Poké Ball toys, certain cosplay props, or glasses and watches—items often imbued with black-tech attributes in fiction.

However, Luca didn't have high hopes that any of these would actually trigger the cheat's recognition.

Take the shoes as an example.

If Luca hadn't already synthesized the [Kick-Enhancement Shoes], relying solely on a pair or two bought by subordinates would make the chances of triggering the cheat incredibly slim.

Fortunately, money wasn't an issue.

All Luca had to do was open the packages and see if anything glowed.

Moreover, more than half of the items in the living room had no packaging or transparent packaging. A single glance was enough to confirm they weren't "Core Components."

This greatly reduced his actual workload.

"But if there is a next time, I should just have them unbox everything before bringing it to me."

"Do you require me to contact others to help solve your problem?" (●—●)

"Uh, no, I was just talking to myself."

It was his first time doing this, and Luca hadn't fully adapted to the mindset of a wealthy capitalist yet. Before, he only thought about verifying everything personally.

"Forget it, forget it. Let's just get these done first."

Saying this, Luca walked toward the largest package in the living room.

It was a rectangular hardboard package over two meters long. At first glance, it looked like a door laid flat.

Well, actually, it was a door.

Luca had seen it while browsing online—a pure wood, framed pink door. According to the seller, it was perfect for a girl's bedroom.

When he said he wanted to buy this door, Shamila had looked at him strangely for a long time.

But the reason Luca wanted to test it was naturally because its design was strikingly similar to Doraemon's Anywhere Door.

Although Luca doubted he could gather the synthesis materials for such a convenient item even if he got it, a man had to dream, right?

"Uh, as expected, no go?"

He didn't even need to fully unbox it. Just cutting a corner of the packaging was enough for Luca to confirm there was no white glow.

Why do I feel a bit disappointed? Maybe I should visit the manufacturer's warehouse later?

Thinking that Tony Stark would probably just buy the factory and have them churn out doors day and night...

Luca felt that he truly wasn't rich enough.

With a hint of disappointment, he looked at the other items.

"Poké Ball, nope! Capsule, nope! White pocket, nope!"

"Baymax, catch!"

He tossed another box cutter to Baymax.

Watching it carefully pinch the cutter and clumsily mimic his movements, Luca's mood improved significantly.

However, the good mood didn't last long.

"Backpack, nope! Nope, nope..."

After opening dozens of packages and checking all the "junk" he thought might be related to spatial items, not a single one was a hit.

"Sure enough, anything involving blind boxes only leads to disappointment!"

"Your emotional state appears to be fluctuating continuously. Please provide me with psychological counseling data as soon as possible." (●—●)

Seeing Luca toss the box cutter onto the floor in frustration, Baymax, whose movements were becoming more proficient, stopped and looked over.

"Uh, it's fine. Just keep working."

Just as Luca gave up hope and prepared to become a ruthless package-opening machine...

He suddenly noticed that in Baymax's chubby hand, it was carefully holding a long, narrow box it had just opened.

"This is also... Wait! Is that?!"

"This is a package." (●—●)

Ignoring Baymax's literal answer, Luca, who had been feeling numb, snatched the box with lightning speed.

"Damn it, finally a drop!"

"Good job, Baymax~" Luca gave Baymax a thumbs-up.

Baymax looked at its empty chubby hand, then at Luca, who was inexplicably excited. It blinked its round eyes in confusion.

Luca didn't notice Baymax's look; his attention was entirely focused on the box in his hand.

Or rather, not the box, but the black semi-rimless glasses resting quietly inside the long glasses case.

He reached out and took the glowing black-rimmed glasses. A pale blue panel popped up rapidly.
