Although Silas was in pain, his physical conditioning made him quite resilient. After all, Peter had sustained countless injuries in his battles as Spider-Man.
A green figure flashed into Silas's vision.
Silas quickly rolled to dodge. The Lizard stomped down where Silas had been, collapsing the floor and falling to the floor below.
"Spider-Man is back!" Peter flung off the bricks that had covered him, using his web shooters to grab the Lizard's limbs again, trying to halt his advance.
The Lizard impatiently turned its head to look at Peter. "Annoying little bug!"
"I'm actually curious why you guys always call me a little bug. It's Spider-Man, pal," Peter retorted.
The cost of his retort was being swung in a circle by the Lizard, using the web lines as leverage, smashing Peter into numerous objects along the way.
Silas seized the chance to jump up and land a kick on the back of the Lizard's head. The unexpected blow knocked the Lizard to the ground.
Peter also recovered, leaping onto the Lizard's back and delivering a flurry of punches and kicks.
Unfortunately, Peter's strikes had no effect on the Lizard. The Lizard reached back, grabbed Peter around the waist, and flung him out the window.
BANG!
Smashing through the glass, Peter immediately shot a web line in the air, pulling himself back up.
Silas drew his Shadow Blade and swung it at the Lizard's neck. CLANG! A bright spark flew off.
"Broken?" Silas noticed a chip in the blade. This Lizard was really tough.
The Lizard refocused its attention on Silas. Its long tongue flicked out, and its tail fiercely smacked Peter away as he tried to sneak up:
"Why! Why can you all have this power, and yet I have to pay this price!"
The Lizard grew even more insane due to jealousy. It grabbed and threw everything it could get its claws on.
Silas had no choice but to brace himself and rely on his Spider-Sense to dodge the attacks. Currently, the Spider-Sense wasn't foolproof; it was in a state of being sometimes effective, especially when his body's speed couldn't keep up with his mind's reaction time.
CRASH!
A chair smashed into Silas, knocking him to the floor.
"Got you." The Lizard picked up Silas from the ground, lifting him high.
"And you've got me too!" Peter wrapped web lines around the Lizard's legs and pulled hard.
Losing its balance, the Lizard fell to the floor with a THUD!
Silas quickly scrambled away from the Lizard. With the Lizard's regeneration, it would recover very quickly.
Sure enough, the Lizard stood up as if unharmed, looking back and forth between Silas and Peter. He is only one person, and they are two. When he deals with one, the other attacks. It's too unfair!
Making a snap decision, the Lizard bolted for the door and ran off!
"Quickly, follow him!" Peter immediately chased after him. This was his responsibility.
Silas sadly picked up his Shadow Blade. It was ruined after only a few uses. He tossed it back into the Shadow Realm and pursued Peter.
Down the long hallway, a large figure and two smaller figures chased each other relentlessly.
"Ah!" Some students hadn't completely evacuated the hallway, including someone Peter knew: Liz Allan!
The Lizard didn't care. Anyone who blocked his path received a violent swat at their head.
Silas was not in a rush, but Peter was terrified. Peter managed to grab Liz in time, pulling her into his arms and dodging the Lizard's attack.
"Th-thank you," Liz said, still shaken.
Peter didn't have time to chat with Liz and was about to send her away.
Unexpectedly, the fleeing Lizard suddenly turned and counterattacked.
Silas stepped up, engaging the Lizard in a struggle of strength. "Get out of the way!"
"Okay!" Peter, holding Liz, burst through the window. He shot a web to catch Liz in a web hammock, then quickly swung back inside.
Liz was slowly rescued by her friends below.
In the distance, the blare of police sirens finally began to arrive.
"You can't defeat me, boy!" The Lizard looked down, pressing his hands down onto Silas.
Silas could barely hold his ground, his legs trembling constantly. He was almost at his limit, but he couldn't let go, or the Lizard would surely crush him.
SWISH! SWISH! SWISH!
Shadow Ninjas continuously emerged from his shadow, punching and kicking the Lizard. Unfortunately, the Shadow Ninjas only possessed the strength of ordinary humans. They couldn't harm the Lizard and could only offer a mere distraction.
"Is that all the strength you have?" the Lizard mocked.
"You still have me!" Peter swung back in through the window, adding his own strength to the momentum, and landed a kick that flipped the Lizard backward, sending him smashing into the wall.
"Are you okay?" Peter extended his right hand to Silas.
Silas grabbed Peter's hand and stood up. "I'm fine for now."
"I'm Spider-Man, what's your name?" Peter asked.
But the Lizard didn't give Silas time to answer. A massive chunk of rubble flew out from the Lizard's direction.
Silas and Peter jumped backward simultaneously, dodging the attack.
"Alright, we can chat later," Peter decided he needed to deal with the Lizard first.
At the same time, armed police officers rushed in along the hallway. The Lizard charged out right then.
BANG! BANG! RAT-A-TAT! RAT-A-TAT!
As soon as the police saw the Lizard, they opened fire immediately, completely disregarding Silas and Peter, who were also in the line of fire.
"Move!" Silas threw Peter out the window and quickly retreated into his shadow.
The bullets struck the Lizard but failed to cause any damage. The smooth, hard scales effectively protected him.
Seeing the two little bugs flee, the Lizard vented all his fury on the police. Enduring the hail of bullets, he charged toward the officers.
As he reached out to tear the police officers apart, Peter, who had swung back in from the window, landed a surprise blow on his head, sending him smashing into the wall once more.
"Get out of here! Or grab a weapon with more power and hit him with it!" Peter shouted.
"Who are you? Why should we listen to you?" the police captain retorted. They couldn't let an outsider like Peter command them.
He picked up his communication device. "The target is impervious to bullets. Get a sniper to hit him in the temple."
CRUNCH!
The Lizard's hand shot out from the wall, grabbing the police captain. CRACK! He crushed him ruthlessly.
"No!" This was the first time Peter had witnessed someone die right in front of him.
The Lizard walked out, throwing the crushed police officer aside. "Little bug, we still haven't settled our score!"
Silas emerged from the Shadow Realm and saw the corpse lying on the ground.
This is the true Marvel world. Even with Spider-Man protecting it, what good is it? There will always be times when he can't protect everyone.
"I'm going to bring you to justice!" Peter angrily raised his fists and launched into the fight against the Lizard. Clearly, his strength had increased this time.
Silas didn't stand idle. He tried to sneak attack from behind, but the Lizard's accursed tail smacked Silas, who was mid-air, into the wall.
With that tail in play, Silas couldn't get close to the Lizard. If only I had a Vibranium blade!
"Need a hand, kids?" A red figure appeared outside the window—it was Tony Stark, Iron Man!
Tony extended his right hand. The energy of his armor gathered in his palm. FWOOSH! A scorching laser beam fired out.
The Lizard kicked Peter away and put up his hands to block, but the intense heat of the laser nearly roasted his arms.
"ROAR!" The Lizard retreated into a classroom to avoid Tony's laser.
Tony flew in through the window, looked around, and addressed Silas and Peter with a teasing tone. "A thief and a hot-headed kid, are you trying to play hero?"
"You're Mr. Stark?!" Peter exclaimed, surprised. Iron Man was his idol.
"That's right, Pajama Boy. That suit design is a nice upgrade from the last one." Tony then turned his attention back to Silas. "Now, please return what doesn't belong to you."
Silas merely smiled and didn't reply.
Tony had no liking for Silas, because Silas had stolen his Arc Reactor Mark II!
