After angering the Lizard, why didn't the police officer quickly retreat? He just stayed there waiting to die. Even Peter couldn't react in time.
"Thank God," Aunt May prayed internally.
Ben Parker looked at his wristwatch and said, "May, go call Silas down for lunch."
"Oh, right! Lunch!" Aunt May held the banister and walked up the stairs, calling out, "Silas! Silas!"
"Coming, Aunt May!" Silas heard Aunt May's call in his room and immediately came down.
"Lunch is ready, Silas," Aunt May said.
"Okay." Silas and Aunt May walked down the stairs together.
As soon as Silas came down, he saw the news about the Lizard at the school being broadcast on TV. Listening to the anchor, he realized that a total of three people had died.
"The parents of those two children who died must be heartbroken," Aunt May said, walking behind Ben Parker.
Ben Parker patted Aunt May's hand. "I'm just grateful that our two boys only suffered minor scratches."
"I feel much better," Peter got up from the sofa, touching his back. It seems almost healed?
Ben Parker quickly cautioned, "Careful, Peter, don't strain the wound."
It was then that Ben Parker noticed the wounds on Peter's back were already almost healed.
"Come eat!" Aunt May had already set the lunch on the dining table and called to them.
"Coming, Aunt May! I'm starving to death!" Peter was already incredibly hungry. The fight with the Lizard that morning had been extremely physically taxing.
Silas was also famished, so he sat down, ready to eat.
"Dig in," Ben Parker said. Peter and Silas immediately started eating.
During the meal, an urgent news bulletin came on the TV.
"We interrupt this program for breaking news: Oscorp Industries is currently experiencing an attack by the Lizard. The Lizard is currently contained in the building. Residents nearby are advised to stay away."
"I forgot to turn off the TV," Ben Parker said, standing up to turn it off.
"Wait! Uncle Ben, let's listen," Peter suggested. He urgently needed clues about the Lizard.
Ben Parker thought for a moment, nodded, and sat back down.
"Most of the personnel in the Oscorp building have been evacuated, but employees on the higher floors have not yet been cleared," the anchor reported.
Peter quickly swallowed a few mouthfuls of food, wiped his mouth with a napkin. "I'm done eating!"
"Done eating? Peter, didn't you say you were starving?" Aunt May asked, confused. What was wrong with this boy? He had just complained about being hungry.
Peter paused, then turned to explain. "I... I made plans to meet a friend. We were actually going to have lunch there. I almost missed the appointment."
"But here..." Aunt May was about to say more.
Ben Parker interrupted. "It's fine, let Peter go."
Peter's eyes lit up with gratitude. "Thanks, Uncle Ben!"
"No problem. Be safe," Ben Parker gave Peter a knowing smile.
Peter's heart skipped a beat. He grabbed his backpack, opened the door, and left. He suspected that Uncle Ben might have figured something out.
"You guys keep eating, I need to use the restroom," Silas stood up and headed for the bathroom.
Once in the bathroom, Silas quickly summoned twenty Shadow Ninjas. One by one, they slipped out the window in order, and then Silas returned to the dining table.
Alleyway
As soon as Peter was out, he darted into the nearest alley. After checking left and right to make sure no one was watching, he put on the suit from his backpack and rushed toward Oscorp Industries.
Oscorp Industries Underground Lab
"Are you telling me that a lizard has occupied the building above?!" Norman demanded furiously.
His subordinate trembled. "Yes, Boss."
Norman activated the screen in front of him and saw the Lizard wreaking havoc upstairs.
The Lizard seemed to be searching for something, looking around the lab. He was already carrying a lot of experimental materials.
"Damn it! That's my company!" Norman yelled angrily. "What the hell are my people doing?!"
"The police have already surrounded the area. It's difficult for our personnel to interfere," the subordinate explained.
Norman slowly walked up to the subordinate, staring into his eyes. "This is my territory. Can you tolerate a single lizard jumping around in my space?"
"I understand!" The subordinate turned and left to organize an attack force.
Norman scoffed at the subordinate's retreating back, then looked at the battle armor on the wall.
His current physical condition could not support him wearing the armor. He had to create that thing first.
Upstairs
"This! And this!" The Lizard held a briefcase and continued to toss materials inside.
BANG! BANG! BANG! A few gunshots rang out, followed by the crisp sound of bullets hitting the floor.
The Lizard turned to see over a dozen armed men in suits behind him, but their bullets were useless.
"Where is Norman, that coward!" the Lizard demanded.
Norman, downstairs, was startled. How does this lizard monster know me?
"Not talking?" The Lizard advanced toward the men, ignoring their bullets, and began to tear their bodies apart.
"Run!" The men realized they were no match for the Lizard and turned to flee.
The Lizard wouldn't let them go easily. He set down the briefcase, freed from any restraint, and began a massacre.
In less than a minute, the men were all dead. The Lizard flicked his tail. Seeing no one left to disturb him, he picked up the briefcase, ready to leave.
"Where are you going, Lizard?" Peter arrived on the scene in time, shooting two web lines to wrap around the Lizard's legs. With a hard pull, the Lizard lost his balance and fell again, the briefcase flying out of his hand.
It landed some distance away. The Lizard quickly used his claws to tear the webs, rushing to retrieve the briefcase.
"Do you want this?" Peter saw how desperately the Lizard wanted the briefcase and used a web line to pull it toward himself.
The Lizard stared at Peter with vicious eyes. "Give me the case back~"
"About that~ No. It's not right to take other people's things. We should return them to their original place," Spider-Man said, pointing toward the materials' original location.
"You're asking for death!" The Lizard had no patience for banter. He leaped up, covering the distance to Peter with his powerful, thick legs.
Peter couldn't dodge in time and was forced to use the briefcase to block the Lizard's attack.
CRUNCH!
The briefcase was instantly destroyed. The materials scattered onto the floor, and the liquids in the test tubes spilled out, mixing together.
"No! No!" The Lizard fell to his knees in despair, cupping the liquid on the floor in his hands, but it quickly leaked through his fingers.
"I'm sorry," Peter said.
Hearing Peter's voice, the Lizard slowly stood up. "Spider-Man! I never bothered you from the start. Why do you keep interfering with me, again and again!"
"If you promise me to stop causing trouble and turn yourself in to the police, I promise I won't show up in front of you again," Peter replied.
"Hahaha! How naive." The Lizard stared at Peter with his green eyes. "Spider-Man, if that's the case, we'll fight to the death!"
"ROAR!" The Lizard roared, rushed at Peter, spun his body, and lashed his tail straight at Peter.
Peter leaped up, dodging the Lizard's tail. The tail slammed into the wall, BOOM! leaving a spiderweb-like crack.
"Too close," Peter thought, looking at the crack. If that had hit him, he'd be applying medicine again.
Unbeknownst to them, Shadow Ninjas had appeared among the people trapped on the higher floors, carrying them away from the building.
These were the Shadowkhan sent by Silas. He couldn't miss out on those Justice Points!
Silas was currently having lunch with his family. His time to act would be after he finished eating.
He had already ordered the Shadowkhan to follow the Lizard if he escaped and report his location at all times!
