"Stop right there!" Peter used the surrounding support pillars to shoot out webs, forming a giant spider web that temporarily trapped the Lizard.
The webs had very high tensile strength, and the Lizard wouldn't be able to tear them apart without some serious effort.
"Alright, you stay here for a while. I'll be right back," Peter rushed upstairs. He remembered there were still people trapped above.
As soon as Peter arrived on the floor, he saw the last person being carried by a Shadow Ninja who leaped from the high-rise window.
"Cool!" Peter hadn't expected the other guy to show up again. He truly was a hero with a strong sense of justice.
BOOM! The area where Peter was standing shook violently. The Lizard below, wrapped in webs, had grown agitated.
The Lizard was irritated. He used all his strength to struggle free, and the pillars tethered by the webs began to crack.
Outside the window, a drone was recording everything. It was sent by the news media; they would stop at nothing for a story.
"Okay, we have acquired footage from the upper floor. The masked man calling himself Spider-Man is engaging the Lizard!"
The anchor quickly looked at the live feed from the drone and reported the situation.
Upstairs
Peter immediately ran back down and found the Lizard completely covered in his webs, with only its terrifying eyes visible.
"Spider-Man, lizards have a keen sense of smell. I remember your scent!" The Lizard used its sharp claws to cut through the web lines, then leaped out the window!
CRASH! The window shattered into pieces as the Lizard burst through.
Using its sharp claws, the Lizard gripped the building wall tightly, creating a screeching sound as it slid down toward the ground.
"Oh no!" Peter's heart sank when he heard what the Lizard said. He absolutely could not let the Lizard escape this time.
Peter immediately jumped out the window, pursuing the Lizard.
The Lizard looked up at Peter above him and showed a chilling smile.
The police below saw the Lizard and immediately raised their weapons, opening fire! BANG! BANG! BANG! RAT-A-TAT! RAT-A-TAT! RAT-A-TAT!
The bullets hitting the Lizard had no effect, but the stray bullets all aimed for Peter, who was chasing the Lizard.
Peter's eyes narrowed. He immediately decided to give up the chase, spinning around in mid-air and swinging away with a web line, narrowly dodging the stray fire.
BOOM!
The Lizard crashed onto the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust that obscured his green body, leaving only a faint outline visible.
All the police fired into the dust cloud where the Lizard landed. The continuous gunshots lasted for about a minute before the firing stopped.
As the dust slowly settled, the Lizard's figure had already vanished, leaving only a huge hole in the ground.
"Make way!" Peter seized the opening, swung down on a web line, and dropped into the hole. He absolutely couldn't let the Lizard get away!
"What should we do?" a police officer asked the commanding officer.
"Clearly, we leave the Lizard to that Spider-Man. Don't they all love the sewers?" The commander had no way of dealing with the Lizard underground. If there were more casualties, his position as commander would be difficult.
In the Hole
The path the Lizard had dug led directly into the sewer system. When Peter reached a sewer branch, he stopped.
"What do I do? Where did he go?" Peter anxiously looked around. There were three paths in front of him.
"Don't panic~ Don't panic~" Peter took a deep breath. He had that special sense in his head. Please work!
Peter chose the path to the right, noticing no change in his sense. He then chose the middle path, still no reaction.
Finally, he had to choose the leftmost path.
A sense of danger immediately flared up. Peter's eyes widened. "Thanks, buddy!" Then Peter chased after the Lizard in that direction.
Home
The Parker family finally finished lunch. Silas quickly found an excuse to leave the table, changed into his black suit, and headed toward the location the Shadowkhan had reported.
"Hold on, Peter!" Silas found a manhole cover on the street, opened it, and was about to enter when a strong stench of sewage hit him.
"Oh~ S**t!" Silas nearly threw up his lunch.
The Sewer
"Where is the Lizard?" Peter was surprised to find a table, along with various experimental materials and equipment, set up in the sewer.
Peter stopped and saw a book on the table. He walked over, opened the book, and saw pages filled with gene formulas.
"I didn't think you'd track me all the way here," the Lizard's voice came from behind Peter.
Peter quickly turned around and adopted an attack stance.
"Don't get excited." The Lizard licked his upper jaw, clenching his fists. "I was just an ordinary human. I only gained this strong body because of the lizard serum!"
"But you also turned into this," Peter said, looking the Lizard up and down.
The Lizard froze for a moment, but didn't get angry. Instead, he said, "Regrowing a healthy limb and gaining this immense strength always requires some sacrifice."
"I was preparing to recreate the lizard serum and restore the health of everyone in New York City! Everyone will possess this great power!" the Lizard shouted.
Peter subtly pocketed the formula notebook, staring at the Lizard as he retorted, "But that would turn everyone into a green monster."
"What did you say? Monster?" The Lizard's rage flared up when he heard the word. "One person like this is a monster! But what about everyone in New York City? What about everyone in the world? By then, you will be the monster, won't you?"
"Alright, that's a great plan. But before that, I'm going to have to ask you to take a trip to the police station!"
Peter initiated the attack, shooting a web line to grab the table and fling it at the Lizard.
The Lizard smashed the table with one punch. "You call me a monster, but I bet the face behind that mask is also that of a monster!"
"Sorry, I'm very handsome. If you had a daughter, she would fall in love with me." Peter leaped toward the Lizard, delivering a mid-air strike toward the Lizard's head.
The Lizard raised his hand to block, then tried to grab Peter, but Peter nimbly used a web line to pull himself back, causing the Lizard to grab empty air.
"You better hope I don't catch you. Your so-called partner isn't here!"
The Lizard's massive body blocked the escape route. The narrow space here made it difficult for the Lizard to move naturally.
However, it was even harder for Peter. The Lizard could take several hits and still keep fighting. Peter couldn't survive a few of the Lizard's punches, and the narrow space didn't allow him to easily dodge.
The Lizard swung his thick tail, slowly advancing toward Peter. Being familiar with the area, he knew that Peter had no retreat behind him.
"Crap! No way out." Peter had backed up against a drainage grate.
"Can't run away now, little spider!" The Lizard tore off the remaining shreds of his clothes. "Now it's time for our one-on-one!"
