He smiled, and I blinked in surprise as he kissed my cheek. My brain seemed to freeze for a moment, unable to process what he had just done.
"Thank you, Solar," he said softly.
Something about his tone didn't sit right with me.

As I walked down the familiar path, I ran into Charlotte. She froze when she saw me and quickly turned her gaze away. There was something off about her—why did she look so sad?
"S-Solar!" she stammered.
"Yes?" I replied, tilting my head slightly, giving her an innocent look, silently signaling that I had no idea what she was about to say.
She bit her lip nervously. "X-Xavion and I… we're together now. What we had before—it was just pretending. But it's real now."
Her words hung in the air, heavy and loaded, and for a moment I felt that silent tension that always precedes something bad.
Well, for them, maybe something bad had happened—or would happen—but I was safely on the sidelines.
