I heard Charlotte's footsteps fading away.
Only then did I finally release the breath I'd been holding. I had almost forgotten how close Luke and I were standing.
"Um… Luke. She's gone," I said, because he looked like he hadn't noticed at all.
"Tsk."
He opened the door, and only then did I truly relax when I realized Charlotte was really gone.
"What actually happened?" he asked. "Why was she following you around like some kind of stalker?"
Doesn't he know Charlotte is a guy?
I can't tell him. If he finds out, what if he stops falling for Charlotte?
"Honestly… I don't know," I lied.
He suddenly pinched my nose, making me yelp in pain.
"Ouch!"
"Didn't I tell you?" he said coldly. "I hate liars."
As if that wasn't enough, he messed up my hair too. I shot him an annoyed glare.
"Oh?" he teased. "What's with that look?"
"Luke, you're really not a gentleman," I snapped.
I reached up and ruffled his hair in retaliation, making him freeze. Clearly, he didn't expect that.
