Chapter 7 - Survival (2)

Cold.

That was what William felt right now.

It was also... Familiar?

His body was light, like floating above a still lake of water.

"Hey?"

A voice called out to him.

Unfamiliar, yet also something he longed for.

Everything the voice was saying was unclear, unknown, but he was still able to make out part of what they said...

"...talus!"

William quickly got up, heavily breathing, palms sweaty, and his body aching.

When William looked around, he found himself on a bed, not the one he was in when he first woke up, because this one felt... Harder.

His eyes scanned through the room, taking note of the generic hospital room.

Though, for some reason—when he realised he might be in a hospital—his heart seemingly tightened.

When he tried to get up, overwhelming pain filled him and the only thing that got out of the bed was the sound of a groan.

All around his body, he was covered in bandages, which makes sense as he remembered what happened to make him into this.

"That woman..."

A burning pain erupted in his body, reliving the experience he faced during that one exchange.

A sigh came as he tried to relax, the amnesiac just continued to look around his surroundings.

It was just like a hospital general ward, just a lot smaller and only he was there.

Before he could take in his full surroundings, he'd hear the door click, making his body tense up.

As the door opened, a lightly tan skinned man in a doctor's outfit walked in, looking at William with a relieved look.

"Ah, you're finally awake."

He sat down on a chair next to the bed as William just looked bewildered.

"Hey, uh... Where am I?"

The doctor looked towards William before explaining.

"You're in AC-B's private clinic, you better thank the president you didn't bleed out."

"President?" William asked, then it clicked. "You mean Miss Farah?"

The doctor nodded, leaning back as William would take note of several things about this doctor.

His disheveled outfit, messy hair, uneven glasses, even the small bags under his eyes. The thing that caught his attention the most though was...

A small heart below his right eye.

"You... Have a conviction?"

With a side eye, the doctor fixed his posture. "Of course, almost everyone in the organization has one."

William sighed as he leaned back on his bed... "Then yours has to do with healing?"

A nod came from the doctor. "Azumi Sei, Safety." To prove it, Azumi held out his hand to touch William.

The heart on his face glowed light green as William could feel his injuries getting better...

The one being healed would suddenly feel something in his chest burning before once again, passing out.

Azumi shook his head before coughing... "それは弱すぎるよ…[1]"

In the middle of the nuclear wasteland of what once used to be Ottawa, Canada, five individuals stood.

Buildings were completely scorched and melting, the only thing untouched was five chairs around a round table.

The first to take a seat was a man with gray hair and wearing a suit. "Violet, sit here." He patted the seat next to him.

"Sì, fratello mio!![2]" A green haired girl said before sitting down. Long flowing hair and blue pristine eyes.

"как громко...[3]" Another woman, easily over 8 feet tall sat down on the largest seat. "You too loud."

She wore white hair and amber red eyes with a gang aesthetic, especially with the jacket and leather ripped pants.

"Let the kids have some fun, Ver." Another woman chimed in, tapping the table rhythmically as she sat down.

Yet another with white hair, this time with golden eyes. She wore a very 1900s Englishman outfit, suit, top hat, even had a cane.

With the only one left standing, that person made her way to the last remaining chair...

This was Hogaamin Farah.

As she sat down, the green haired girl started talking.

"Posso chiedere una cosa[4]? Why are we here?"

The only man answered. "That—mia cara sorella[5]—is because this is neutral ground. We have the Peacekeeper to thank for that."

The eyes of the tallest woman twitched slightly. "You're playing risky game here, Crayson."

The green haired girl immediately got defensive and raised her arm to shield the man next to her. "No! You can't hurt him!"

"Enough."

That one word came from both of the woman who remained silent. Dual golden eyes glaring at everyone.

Then, Farah broke the silence. "I've called you all here because I found Arin Castro."

Everyone tensed at that, turning towards the lynx girl with different expressions.

"Oh, is she doing well? I haven't seen that girl in quite a while." Said the suited woman.

"Her... Don't like her." The giantess added.

"Where did you find her? It's been years since we've even seen her." Commented by the man.

"Who?" The clueless green lady was just confused.

Farah then nodded at all of their words, before continuing. "I didn't find her, she came to me, she attacked me."

Again, everyone tensed up, especially the giantess, who had her entire forearm glowing bright red.

"Tell more, now."

Everyone followed suit, nodding at her request.

Farah sighed, feeling the sharp gazes of everyone one her. It was clear they wouldn't let any other discussion form before they got answers.

"While I was helping a new employee of mine, she and a group of people—who I found to be former inmates of The Dome— attacked my home."

She recounted the story one by one, leaving the others with difficult expressions...

"So that means she's working with Eris, right?" The white haired man came to the conclusion.

A series of nods came from everyone, except for the girl beside him...

"Eris..."

The girl leaned back before thinking, contemplating on everything she was told.

"In anyway, it's been over five years, and she comes back with a declaration of war..."

Farah focused her eyes, her claws digging into the table.

"I hope you all can assist the AC-B with this."

Before anyone could fully understand what Farah was saying, another voice came.

"Do you want us to attack The Dome then?"

The suited woman was the one who interrupted everyone's thoughts. Her golden eyes staring directly at Farah as her fingers moved faster to make a quicker beat on the table.

Farah shook her head, even if that was something that she thought of, it'd be too risky, especially when they don't even know what their enemy can do.

"We'll simply keep watch on them, I know you all can help with that."

A groan came from the only man on the table...

"Fine, you've got me and Violet here."

"Yep! Gray's correct!"

Violet and Gray Crayson, two siblings who were both the top of two different worlds. Violet is the face of Convictions, being the most famous acrobat and being with a travelling circus called 'Unmatched Big Tops'.

Gray is the shadow, he's the conductor to the circus, the man who deals with everything that's underhanded. Bribes, human trafficking, corruption, propaganda, he's dealt with each one individually.

"Alright, you caught my attention little kitty, I'll join you.

The suited lady was next to respond, a smile planted on her face as she continued tapping the table.

This was Val Legato, someone who managed to calm entire riots within hours without any help. She's both powerful and elegant, catching attention wherever she went.

The last one remaining caught everyone's attention...

"What's your answer, Peacekeeper?"

The giantess scoffed, her eyes gleaming with righteous fury. A large hand gripped the chair before she stood up.

"The name speaks for itself."

Verena Árnadóttir, the Peacekeeper from Russia. She's known for her power and influence. Even the Russian government learned the hard way to not do anything Verena doesn't like.

Farah nodded as she stood up as well, I'm her mind, millions of thoughts were flowing at the same time, yet she can still perfectly understand all of it. With all those options, she chose what she decided what she believed was best.

"Meeting adjourned."
