Chapter 13 - Enjoyment (1)

After the interview, William was sat down in the stands of the circus, watching intently.

Right now, the openings were just ending, lion tamers, stuntmen, they even had a whole elephant run around for a little bit.

As a group of fire dancerz was just ending their dance, William focused on who's next.

As they ended with the entire ground lighting on fire, a path cleared like it was magic.

The dancers simply moved away as from above, Gray fell down perfectly to announce the next performer.

His perfectly white coat flowing through the air as he spoke with a flamboyant voice.

"Alas! Now that we're reaching the climax! You all know what's next—who you all came here for!"

The fire that once surrounded the ground all were extinguished by the sound of a single step that filled the tent.

"Welcome! Our star! The face of this generation—"

Then, she fully revealed herself, drawing every gaze as the spotlight shined on her form.

Long green hair flowing with grace as she was clad in her skintight leotard. On her face, a large familiar grin was planted in it.

"THE FLYING VIOLET!"

With that exclamation from Gray, the crowd started their cheers, yelling at the top of their voices to even get a glance from her.

William however kept his eyes on her, silent, noticing that the back of her left shoulder was glowing.

Was that where her conviction mark was located?

He didn't even get to question it before the performance started, a large gust of wind stole everyone's breath the very moment Violet raised her arm.

The lights of the tent suddenly went out, except for the ones focused on her, like telling everyone in the tent to just focus on her, nothing else.

Violet then leapt up in the air, every gaze to follow her form as she flew so high one could mistake her for flying.

The acrobat would then grab what seemed to be a bar made of air and spin mid air a few times before launching herself right above the stands and start to circle the crowd.

No screams were made, only sounds of awe and amazement as they watched Violet fly above their heads.

As William was entranced by Violet's performance, when she circles above him, he couldn't help but question how she did it.

There was no rope on her back, she was simply just flying. Was this another Conviction?

Violet then quickened her pace, closing in on the middle until what could only be described as a tornado formed around her.

Somehow, the crowd was completely unharmed as the tornado kept spinning with her.

The powerful winds sent the sand of the ground flying, yet they never touched even a hair of any individual.

"What..?"

Everyone was stunned, but they couldn't be for long because the tornado would be destroyed to be replaced by Violet right in the middle, floating.

With one final act, she did a cocking motion with her arm, pointed up, and fireworks appeared above her.

The crowd roared, screaming her name, cheering, getting off of their seats, just to get a better view of her.

Violet would then simply lower her head as the fireworks above her kept going, and as the last firework fired like a flashbang, Violet seemed to have vanished.

Inside the crowd, one person was simply watching, unlike everyone else, she didn't seem entranced or excited.

White hair, suit and tie, tophat, if anyone would even glance her way, they would recognize her.

Yet because of Violet, all of the attention had been stolen away from her.

"That little brat is quite popular, huh?"

She tapped her foot on the floor before getting up and waking to leave the tent. This was what she had come here after all and she was pleasantly surprised.

She tapped her cane on the ground rhythmically.

"Hm~ That was a nice song."

On another side of the stands, William was completely stunned.

"Could Conviction even do that?!?"

Violet's file said nothing about all of THAT, he'll have to talk about Miss Farah about that later.

He couldn't even shift his gaze from where Violet had once stood, imagining what else she can do if she can do all of that.

"Ah..."

William got up, closing his eyes as he started to walk out. Since he was already given a 5 star meal, the rest of the show would just be extra calories to his time, why would he watch them?

A good chunk of the crowd also followed him, talking about the performance of Violet.

"How do they even do that?!"

"Man, I'm so jealous of Conviction-Bearers!"

"Yeah, right? I bet I'd have something just like Violet!"

"Really? You? Come on, you're more likely to just have a Conviction for laziness!"

"Hey!"

Hearing banter from random people, William couldn't help but smile.

These past few days were definitely tiring, but also somewhat fun. He'll definitely have to take a break though...

1 hour later, in Miss Farah's office

"You'll be doing another interview, this time with someone else."

Miss Farah handed another file at William, who was staring wide-eyed.

"Um..? Isn't it too soon?"

He asked, he was still definitely slightly burnt out from almost a full week of doing nothing but researching, he even thought he would die!

"I'm sorry, but she was spotted nearby and it's urgent."

"What about the other journalists?"

"We don't have any."

And William soon realized what kind of job he signed himself into, he was going to get dried up...
