Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 - Progress (1)

During the last 5 years, life in the village, now a small town, was peaceful.

The occassional outsiders going into the town were also unaware of its secrets.

What used to be a village of around 2,000 goblins, grew into a small town with a population of around 10,000.

Around 3,000 of those inhabitants were vampires.

Due to being in a time period where information was being passed around through carrier pigeons and word of mouth, the town of vampires stayed clear of trouble.

Being right in the borders of the goblin kingdom, nobody gave a crap about the goblin mage suddenly dying.

Since the world as a whole was full of skirmishes between and within nations, nobody paid any attention to the town.

Moreover, the vampires caused no trouble for the surrounding territories, so nothing was out of the norm.

Though progress in strengthening the goblins was slow, it was steady.

In truth, there were 2 towns. One in the outside, which used to be the old village.

And one in the forest, which was the new village that had just been built 5 years ago.

The small old village had expanded a tiny bit, with around half of the entire population of goblins living there.

The other half lived in the forest, around the cave system that Lucky had discovered, the place where the new village, now a town, was.

The distance between the two towns were only 10 minutes by foot, thus Lucky considered them part of the same town.

Though he did not know much about science, he did as much as he could and encouraged the goblins and vampire goblins to innovate.

Normal goblin lifespan was around 30 years. After becoming vampires, they were practically immortal, so he did not need to worry about the loss of precious minds.

Besides, ever since inventing the new language and writing system, Ascend, every new discovery and knowledge were written down in books.

In fact, the cave that Lucky had used as his base, was turned into a library.

Knowing how to produce primitive paper from watching documentaries, he put the knowledge into use.

Now, the source of income for the outside town was selling paper.

This planet was already familiar with paper, but their production methods were kept as a secret by noble families and even royalty.

And thus, paper was expensive.

And although his paper was more primitive than what the nobles and royalty were selling, he could mass-produce them.

No one was selling cheap paper.

Using the gap in the market, he capitalized on that fact and ordered the outside town to sell cheap paper in bulk to outside merchants.

Lucky even made a trading company called "Oer Trading Company." Oer was the name of the outside town, directly inherited from the old village's name.

Since money was flowing in, the town could buy materials and supplies that did not exist in the surrounding areas.

During the past 5 years, his vampire goblins grew in population.

And thus, he employed a large portion of them to become scientists.

Now, the first time in this planet's history, after 5 years of hard vampire goblin scientist sweat, cement was invented.

Portland cement to be specific.

This was the cause of yesterday's festival.

Though most of the goblins did not know what was being celebrated, they knew it was good.

Lucky and the elves even participated in the celebration.

It was a feat worth celebrating.

The festival lasted a whole day, with good food and good drinks.

After being introduced to Earth's cuisine by Lucky, the goblins' simple palates had elevated greatly.

In the festival, burgers and pizzas among many other dishes were being sold and eaten. And although their drinks consisted of locally brewed beer and animal blood for the vampires, they were still being enjoyed as much.

Today marked a new beginning for the goblins. Thus, Lucky walked around the town of Oer with bright spirits even if he usually hid himself.

Since he was also a daywalker, he walked under the sun in confident steps.

His steps headed towards the mayor's office, what used to be the goblin chief's house.

The son of the ex-goblin, who became the new chief 5 years ago, had become a mayor.

And today, Lucky was walking there to give new orders instead of telling the sisters to do it in his place.

Why? Because the discovery of cement meant one thing, it was time to upgrade and fortify the infrastructure.

This required complex coordination with the mayor and the entire town of Oer.

Not only that, but the outside part of Oer and the inside part of Oer were going to go through the same overhaul.

It was time to modernize his new homeland.

A young man with black hair, pale skin, and red eyes entered the goblin mayor's office.

The vampire goblin mayor quickly bowed down and greeted Lucky, "good morning, Master!"

Yes, that young man was Lucky.

He did not know why, but over the past 5 years, he had grown into an adult like a normal human.

According to the elves, vampires were unable to age. So he was one peculiar vampire.

From his own guesses, he had been turned into a pre-pubescent child around 12 or 13 years old when he arrived here.

Now, after 5 years, he had grown into an adult.

An extremely beautiful adult.

If he had to compare with his previous life, if he could even call it his previous life, he looked like a distantly related cousin that had gorgeous parents.

Biologically, he should be around 18 years old now. Mentally though, he was 51 years old.

Well, it wasn't like he was the oldest here. The three elven sisters were way older than him.

Ella was 67 years old, Erina was 96 years old, and Elena was 122 years old.

"Should I get you anything to drink, Master?" Inquired the mayor.

"No, just sit down, Aroi," answered Lucky.

The vampire goblin, Aroi, quickly sat down again.

"Here's what should be done," said Lucky whilst bringing out a bunch of paper.

"Those are all what I've planned to be doing right now with our new invention, the cement," he added.

"If you have any questions, just ask now," said Lucky.
