Chapter 35: Ahao Doesn't Want to Become Qian Xunji
Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect
The retired sect master Ning Daocheng chuckled merrily. "That Clear Sky Sect is truly down on its luck. First, the old sect master Tang Chen failed to become a god and was trapped in the divine trials, and now the future hopes of the sect—the Haotian Twin Stars—have destroyed each other over a woman. What a disgrace! Truly laughable."
Within the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, the guardian Douluo—Mad Rhino Douluo and Barbaric Bull Douluo—were both nearing the end of their lives. Fortunately, his son Ning Fengzhi had proven exceptional. He had befriended the Soul Douluo Gu Rong and the Seven Killing Sword inheritor, Chen Xin, and brought them into the sect as consecrated elders. Both men were destined to become Title Douluo, likely even Super Douluo in the future. When the sect eventually passed into Fengzhi's hands, it was assured to shine brighter than ever before.
While the Clear Sky Sect declined, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect was rising—it was hard not to feel delighted. The future position of "number one sect under heaven" might soon belong to them instead.
However, upon hearing the news, Ning Fengzhi didn't share his father's joy. His brow furrowed in concern as he said, "Father, this may not actually be good news for our sect. The only true beneficiary of this chaos is the Spirit Hall."
"Oh? Explain," Ning Daocheng said curiously.
"In the age when the Spirit Hall's power peaked, the Clear Sky Sect remained their sole equal because they had Tang Chen—the Limit Douluo—leading the Upper Three Sects together. But now, Tang Chen is lost within the divine trials, and one of the Haotian Twins is crippled while the other is a fugitive. Meanwhile, the Spirit Hall has lost nothing. This will break the balance. The Clear Sky Sect's fall means the fall of the Upper Three Sects as a whole. As one weakens, Spirit Hall will grow even stronger, and the entire continent will tip in their favor."
Upon hearing Ning Fengzhi's calm analysis, all those who had been secretly gloating went silent, their faces suddenly solemn.
"That is… indeed a problem," Ning Daocheng said, his earlier cheer gone. He turned to his son, whose intelligence and foresight had always impressed him, and asked, "Then in your opinion, what should we do?"
"Father," Ning Fengzhi replied with a confident smile, "we should assist the Clear Sky Sect—help them locate Tang Hao. When necessary, we can act as mediators to calm the situation. As long as the Clear Sky Sect regains stability and Tang Hao eventually achieves the Super Douluo level, the unity of the Upper Three Sects will remain intact. Only then can we ensure the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect's safety in the future."
"Excellent," Ning Daocheng agreed. "Do as you've said."
Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan
"Hahahaha! Let them kill each other!" Yu Yuanzhen burst out laughing. He had none of Ning Fengzhi's diplomacy.
The two great offensive sects of the Upper Three Sects had always taken turns dominating the stage—until Tang Chen appeared. His breakthrough to the Limit Douluo realm and creation of the Haotian Secret Techniques had raised the Clear Sky Sect to unmatched heights.
After his disappearance, the Haotian Twin Stars had taken up his legacy, pushing the sect to new prosperity.
By contrast, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan had only declined generation by generation.
Yu Yuanzhen had placed his hopes on his son, Yu Xiaogang, believing he might possess extraordinary talent and revive the clan's glory—only for him to awaken a pig-like martial soul. If not for the surprise talent from another branch family, Yu Yuanzhen could barely imagine the clan's future.
Now that their main rival was in chaos, the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan couldn't help feeling pleased.
"Brother," Yu Luomian cautioned, "even so, our clan still lags behind the Clear Sky Sect. You may be a rank 93 Title Douluo, but Tang Tian is already 95. And even with Tang Xiao crippled, there's still Tang Hao."
At those words, Yu Yuanzhen's smile faded into a frown. After a long sigh, he said, "Forget it. Let's just hope Xiaogang and the others can make something of themselves."
A nearby elder silently grumbled to himself: Make something of himself? That wastrel wasted countless resources—and slowed your own cultivation. If not for him, you'd be a rank 94 Douluo by now and well on your way to level 95.
Across the continent, Tang Hao's actions had shaken every faction of the soul master world.
But where was Tang Hao now?
On the day he attacked Tang Xiao and abducted Ah Yin, he hadn't dared return to the sect. Instead, he took Ah Yin deep into the mountains, carving out a hidden cabin where they lived in seclusion.
Sitting outside the small house, Tang Hao gazed toward the distant direction of the Clear Sky Sect. He knew the sect must have already placed a bounty on him. They knew of his treachery.
He felt guilt gnaw at him whenever he thought of Tang Xiao—but he didn't regret what he had done.
"Tang Xiao," he murmured, "I'll never give Ah Yin to you. When Little San becomes a god one day, I'll have him restore your spine. That's the least I can do."
From inside the cabin came Ah Yin's cold, furious voice.
"Tang Hao, stop pretending to have a conscience. You monster. You crippled your own brother, stole his lover—do you think a single apology can cleanse your sins?"
Tang Hao had imprisoned her within that secluded home, sealing her soul power but otherwise allowing her limited freedom. Because of his lingering affection, he hadn't harmed her beyond that.
"Ah Yin, why can't you love me?" he asked miserably. "Am I truly so far beneath Tang Xiao?"
"In my eyes, you're not even worth a single hair of his," Ah Yin spat.
The words struck Tang Hao like knives.
He had been reborn—why, then, had fate placed him so early in the timeline? What charm had his brother cast to make Ah Yin adore him so blindly? In the last life, it was Tang Hao she loved! Why was everything different now?
"Ah Yin," he said faintly, "can't you at least try to love me? I was your man in our past life—and this one, too."
Ah Yin laughed bitterly. "You're ridiculous. Even if there was a past life—which I doubt—there's no way I'd fall for someone like you."
Her words tore Tang Hao's heart apart, but he still refused to hurt her. Deep within, he clung to that fragile dream—that one day, she'd come to love him again. Until the very last moment, he couldn't bring himself to force her.
Because Tang Hao didn't want to become like Qian Xunji.
With memories of his past life, he knew all too well how despicable the Spirit Hall had been. After their fall, the sordid details of what Qian Xunji had done became public gossip among all sects and clans.
In order to keep Bibi Dong tied to the Spirit Hall, Qian Xunji had violated her, resulting in the birth of Qian Renxue. That act had earned him her eternal hatred. Even in death, her resentment lingered—tangible and terrifying.
Tang Hao had once pitied that fate. He and Ah Yin, in contrast, had been a pair of devoted lovers, deeply in tune with one another. He believed such tragedy could never happen to them.
How ironic that fate now pushed him down the same path.
Tang Hao longed for Tang San—the god-chosen child—to be born again. He also longed for Ah Yin's love to return to him. Their family was meant to be harmonious, powerful, ruling over the Douluo Continent together.
He couldn't stand the thought of Ah Yin hating him as bitterly as Bibi Dong had hated Qian Xunji.
