Chapter 36: The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well
God Realm, Asura God Temple
The Asura God could see through Tang Hao's thoughts in perfect clarity. He snorted coldly. "He's come this far, yet he still dreams of love? What a weakling. Still, that suits my purpose just fine."
With a flick of his finger, two points of light shot from his hand, sinking into the bodies of Tang Hao and Ah Yin in the mortal realm. Then, the Asura God concealed their location from all divine and mortal eyes.
"For now, my precious heir's divine cultivation isn't complete, and the Child of Destiny has yet to appear," he murmured, glancing disdainfully at Tang Hao and Ah Yin. "Your breeding will proceed only under my permission. When I decree that you may bear life, you will conceive. When I forbid it, you'll be as barren as hens that lay no eggs—and roosters that sire no chicks."
From that moment on, Tang Hao and Ah Yin were rendered infertile.
Under the Asura God's veiling power, the Clear Sky Sect's years-long search across the continent yielded nothing.
Sunset Forest – The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well
Those familiar with Douluo Dalu fanworks knew this was the spiritual nexus of the world—the place that formed the foundation of the Shrek Seven Devils' path to godhood and one of Tang San's most coveted opportunities.
The Eight Spider Lances were optional—seizing or not seizing them didn't truly impact the story—but if any transmigrator ever allowed Tang San to obtain even a single immortal herb from this place, it meant they'd already failed their mission.
Unfortunately, when Huo Yuhao had first transmigrated into the Douluo world, it was already ten thousand years later—during the events of Douluo Dalu II. By then, the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well had long been sealed away by Tang San. Anyone entering that place would fall directly into his calculations.
At the time, Huo Yuhao had intended to abandon all opportunity here—until he realized escape from Tang San's schemes was impossible. Only then did he resign himself to coming to the Well and taking what fate offered.
Now, after having betrayed and slain Tang San in the divine realm, Huo Yuhao returned to the Douluo Continent—forty thousand years earlier. This time, he had no intention of missing the chance.
His body, reforged from the bloodline of the Golden Dragon King and merged with three divine seeds, was far beyond mortal limits. Common immortal herbs meant little to him now. But two things within this land still called to him—the remains of the Ice Dragon King and the Fire Dragon King.
Huo Yuhao directly absorbed both soul bones and fused the dragon souls into his own, forging an unmatched foundation. Yet, by doing so, he had stripped away the Well's primal balance—it would have lasted perhaps a millennium with its residual energy, had he done nothing.
Before ascending to godhood, he had left behind two origin soul spirits—those of the Ice Dragon King and the Fire Dragon King—to sustain the vitality of the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well.
Now, forty thousand years had passed since he'd last stepped upon this sacred land.
"You've come," said the Ice Dragon King.
Huo Yuhao nodded. "I've brought several disciples to harvest resources."
The Fire Dragon King rumbled, "Then the time must be drawing near. As for our agreement—"
"Within a hundred years, I will fulfill it," Huo Yuhao replied.
"Good," said the Ice Dragon King. "We only hope our choice back then was not a mistake."
"You chose well," Huo Yuhao—now also called Huo Qiqiang—smiled faintly. "I never let my followers down."
At his command, the twin elemental spirits opened a hidden space. The air distorted, revealing the legendary valley where crimson flame mist mingled with icy blue fog—the twin forces of ultimate heat and cold.
Qian Renxue unfurled her golden wings, soaring into the air for a bird's-eye view. Below, the valley glowed with radiant hues—scarlet and sapphire mist curling over mountains dotted with glowing treasures.
At the center of it all lay a perfectly circular spring—half ice-blue, emanating bone-chilling cold, and half fiery red, radiating scorching heat.
Beholding this vision, Qian Renxue couldn't help but sigh in awe. "So this is the very place that granted the Shrek Seven Devils their godhood—the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. It's… magnificent. Tang San was truly favored by destiny."
As she admired the spectacular sight, a thought crossed her mind. "In Tang San's era, before he obtained it, this place belonged to Dugu Bo. His family had only two members: Dugu Bo and his granddaughter, Dugu Yan. But after the war with Spirit Hall, Dugu Bo's poison flared beyond control and killed him, and shortly after, Dugu Yan also died young. With all these countless immortal herbs around, not one could cure their poison?!"
Huo Yuhao answered lightly, "There were dozens of herbs here that could have cured or alleviated their poison. Yet Tang San traded him a single Poison-Condensing Soul Bone technique and took the entire well in exchange."
Qian Renxue sneered. "Pitiful. Betrayed, and he even helped count the money he was sold for."
Huo Yuhao turned to the three disciples behind him. "You three—come with me."
He stepped into the Ice and Fire Well, and Lu Yuan, Zhao Quan, and Xiao Zhi followed close behind.
Immortal herbs, while precious below, were mere ornamentation in the realm of gods—tea ingredients for guests in the gardens of the divine. Once a being became a god, such herbs added nothing. Only before ascension could they boost one's foundation, and for mortals, that made places like the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well priceless beyond measure.
Huo Yuhao selected three herbs: the Star Anise Mysterious Ice Grass, the Fiery Apricot Orchid, and the Radiant Spirit Flower. Handing them each to one disciple, he explained their unique properties.
"These three herbs align with your martials' attributes. Absorbing them will refine your body and transform your spirits into embodiments of ultimate fire, ultimate ice, and ultimate light. The process will be agonizing—but endure it, and the path ahead will open wide."
"Thank you, Master!" the three said, channeling soul power to draw in their respective herbs and settle into meditation, refining the immortal energies.
As they cultivated, Huo Yuhao turned to Qian Renxue. "You know the names and harvest methods of the herbs here?"
"I borrowed Elder Yue Guan's Herb Compendium before coming," she replied.
"Then take whatever catches your eye. Just leave the roots so they can grow back."
"Take whatever I want?" she asked, surprise flickering in her eyes.
"Yes," he said simply.
"Thank you, Teacher," Qian Renxue said with a smile, before flying off toward the giant Chrysanthemum known as the Strange Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum.
A few hours later, Xiao Zhi, Lu Yuan, and Zhao Quan had absorbed their herbs completely. As predicted, their soul power soared to the level of four-ring Soul Sects, and their martial spirits evolved into ultimate-attribute True Bodies.
When they returned from hunting spirit beasts for new rings, the once-verdant valley was stripped almost bare—Qian Renxue had harvested nearly everything.
"You said to take anything I wanted," she said sheepishly, sticking out her tongue.
Huo Yuhao chuckled. "I keep my word."
To him, these herbs meant little; the true treasures of this place he had already taken eons ago. The roots would regrow in time, and if he ever needed more, he could simply pluck them from his divine gardens.
Besides, this visit had a deeper purpose. He intended to shape a future even grander than the Spirit Hall of old—and Qian Renxue would be its keystone.
Huo Yuhao produced two books and handed them to her.
"What are these?" she asked.
"The secret technique of the Clear Sky Sect's Ring Explosion, the Great Sumeru Hammer—and Tang San's own cultivation manual, the Mysterious Heaven Skill, along with its secret arts."
