Chapter 41: The Progress of Chrysanthemum and Ghost

Because Chrysanthemum Douluo's martial spirit was the same as the immortal herb he absorbed—the Strange Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum—the effects on his body far surpassed the others'. His ninth spirit ring exceeded one hundred thousand years, reaching the two-hundred-thousand-year threshold of a ferocious beast. Two golden patterns shimmered across the ring's surface.

In the end, Yue Guan's ring stabilized at two hundred thirty thousand years, and the surge of power pushed his spirit level directly to rank ninety-three.

After completing the absorption, all three knelt respectfully. "Thank you for your grace, Young Mistress."

Qian Renxue inclined her head slightly. "Tell me, what spirit skills did you gain? Xiong Ju, you first."

"Yes, Young Mistress." The Mighty Bear Douluo stepped forward and demonstrated his new abilities.

His first new spirit skill was World-Slaying Rampage, a powerful assault skill. Using his bear claws, he could strike at lightning speed, stunning and draining the life of enemies within range. His second skill was Demonic Bear's Roar, a support ability that amplified the battle fury of himself and his allies, increasing attack power by fifty percent while granting immunity to pain.

Qian Daoliu nodded approvingly. "A fine combination. When used together, the balance of power between friend and foe will shift decisively."

Next, Qian Renxue turned to Ghost Douluo. "Your turn."

"Yes, Young Mistress." Ghost Douluo's ninth ring flickered, and his body dissolved like ink into shadow.

"Where did he go?" Xiong Ju said, eyes darting around.

Lightfeather Douluo pointed behind him with a calm smile. "Right behind you."

As Xiong Ju turned in alarm, a silhouette emerged from his own shadow. "This," Ghost Douluo explained, "is the first skill from my hundred-thousand-year ring—Shadow Assault. I can move freely between shadows, appearing anywhere darkness exists. It grants unmatched mobility for stealth and surprise."

His second new skill was Endless Ghost Shadow Bombardment, a mid-range offensive ability that combined with Shadow Assault formed a devastating chain attack.

"Your turn, Yue Guan," Qian Renxue said with interest.

Yue Guan smiled confidently. "My first skill is Sky-Piercing Chrysanthemum Radiance."

As he spoke, his Strange Velvet Sky Chrysanthemum spirit blossomed brilliantly. Petals exploded outward, spinning in a dazzling vortex of golden light, forming a massive ethereal chrysanthemum image in the air above the Worship Hall. From its petals burst countless radiant orbs of energy that condensed into thick pillars of light, crashing down like divine judgment. Each beam carried destructive force capable of shattering the hardest defenses. Qian Daoliu conjured a shield of light to block the attack.

"This skill can scatter for large-scale devastation or concentrate into a single fatal strike," Yue Guan explained, clearly pleased with the display.

The attack was overwhelmingly stronger than his former ninth skill, Broken Chrysanthemum, Scattered Tears.

Lowering his barrier, Qian Daoliu nodded with satisfaction. "Impressive. Compressed to a single point, your strength equals a rank ninety-five Title Douluo's finishing blow. Fitting, for a two-hundred-thousand-year beast ring. What about your second skill?"

A wave of orange light rippled outward from Yue Guan's body, blanketing everyone present.

"A domain?" Ghost Douluo exclaimed in envy.

"This kid truly is favored by heaven," Golden Crocodile Douluo remarked, smacking his lips in surprise.

The domain spread wide, enveloping all within an orange-hued energy barrier.

"My second skill is the Chrysanthemum Domain," Yue Guan explained. "It boosts my spirit power recovery by fifty percent and grants allies within the field a protective diamond shield—immutable and impervious until my energy runs dry."

"Oh? Intriguing," said Jiang Mo Douluo from the back of the line. "Let's test just how impervious your shield is." He stepped forward, grasping his Panlong Staff.

With a resonant boom, he struck the diamond barrier. It rang like a bell—unyielding.

"Not bad," Jiang Mo said with a grin, increasing his soul power output.

Yue Guan's energy drained rapidly. Against a rank ninety-six opponent, even his reinforced domain strained. After half an hour, his strength was nearly gone, and the barrier began to fade. Seeing this, Jiang Mo Douluo pulled back his strength and returned to formation.

Pale-faced but still standing, Yue Guan bowed his head.

"Enough," Qian Renxue said. Her gaze swept across the chamber. "When any of you reach level ninety, come to the Angel Temple. I will grant each a god-given spirit ring—if you believe you can bear one of at least one hundred thousand years."

Then her eyes turned toward two rising talents. "Tuobaxi, Hu Yanzhen—step forward."

The two immediately obeyed. "Young Mistress, your orders."

Qian Renxue said evenly, "With the immortal herbs you've consumed, both of you will reach Title Douluo within ten years. I also expect your two factions to merge into a single sect—from now on, it shall be called the Dragon Elephant Sect."

Golden Crocodile Douluo frowned slightly. "Why combine them, Young Mistress?"

"I intend," Qian Renxue replied, "to forge a new generation of the Upper Three Sects."

Tuobaxi and Hu Yanzhen exchanged glances. Then Tuobaxi bowed. "As you command. Give us some time, and we will persuade our clans. Soon, the White Armored Earth Dragon Clan and Elephant Armored Sect will stand united as one."

After finalizing the merger plan and distributing the immortal herbs, Qian Renxue dismissed the gathering. The Worship Hall grew silent again, leaving only her and the seven grand Worshipers.

"Honored grandfathers," Qian Renxue began softly, "there is one more thing I must ask of you."

"Speak, Young Mistress," Golden Crocodile Douluo said. "Whatever you request, we will see it done."

"I want you all to marry and bear successors—to pass on your powerful bloodlines and martial spirits."

In her previous life, the Spirit Hall had fallen partly because of the rift between the Worship Hall and the Pope's Hall. During the fateful tournament, weak representatives had been sent to face Shrek Academy, leading to humiliation. This time, she would not allow such a thing.

Shrek's advantage had rested on immortal herbs and talent. But the Spirit Hall's martial spirits were no less extraordinary—the Six-Winged Angel, the Golden Crocodile King, the Beast Emperor Lion, the Azure Luan Bird, the Lightfeather Divine Bow, and the Panlong Staff—none had yet received their due glory.
