Chapter 34 - Chapter 34: The Haotian Twins—Brothers Slaying Brothers

Chapter 34: The Haotian Twins—Brothers Slaying Brothers

For a long time, the Asura God calculated, yet found nothing. No anomalies. No disruptions. Nothing at all.

He glanced again at Douluo Continent through his divine sight and finally accepted the reality.

Although the story had strayed from its intended course, it still remained within his broader design. His true goal had always been to pair the hundred-thousand-year-old soul beast with one of the Haotian Twin Stars so they could produce a body suitable for his "precious heir" to possess. Whether the two genuinely loved each other was irrelevant to the Asura God.

Still, the unexpected developments forced him to pay closer attention to the mortal plane.

Days later, Tang Xiao, relying purely on willpower, dragged his crippled body back to civilization and contacted the Clear Sky Sect.

He was soon carried home. The Sect Master, Tang Tian, sat on the main throne, staring at his son's paralyzed form in grief.

Tang Xiao—the other half of the Haotian Twin Stars—possessed the supreme tool-type martial spirit, the Clear Sky Hammer, and innate full soul power. Without misfortune, he was destined to become a Super Douluo, perhaps even reach the peak Limit realm someday, ensuring the Clear Sky Sect's glory for generations.

But all of that was over now. His spine shattered, Tang Xiao's future was ruined.

Forget advancing to Super Douluo—whether he could even reach the Title Douluo level was uncertain.

The Clear Sky Sect had lost one of its two greatest pillars. The weight of that loss was unimaginable.

Tang Tian slammed his hand on the throne's armrest, his voice shaking with fury. "Who was it? Tell me, Xiao'er! Was it the Spirit Hall? Some other force? Who dared to harm the Clear Sky Sect's genius? Do they think, just because I'm without my father now, my sect can be bullied so easily?"

Tang Xiao's face twisted in anguish. This was not a tale easy to tell. He'd been betrayed—by his own brother—and his beloved woman taken from him.

But what could he do? He was crippled. His woman was gone. The only thing he could rely on now was the Sect's power to hunt down Tang Hao and take Ah Yin back.

Resolute, Tang Xiao opened his mouth. "Father… this wasn't done by outsiders."

Then, with painstaking detail, he recounted everything—how he and Tang Hao had met Ah Yin, how they both fell in love, and how it ended.

When he finished, he said bitterly, "Father, Tang Hao attacked me without mercy just to steal my fiancée. He took Ah Yin away. I beg the Sect to avenge me!"

Hearing this, Tang Tian spat blood on the floor.

"You two…!"

"You two were deceived by a demoness to the point that you turned upon each other!" he roared in anguish.

Had it been an enemy sect, Tang Tian could have hated, could have retaliated—but this? This was brother against brother, tragedy born of their own bloodline. And the root cause of all this disaster was a woman!

The Clear Sky Sect had lost a future legend, a pillar of their rise, all because of one woman. Tang Tian's fists trembled with grief and fury.

Inside the main hall, the elders whispered among themselves.

"To think the Haotian brothers would slaughter each other over a woman."

"Truly a curse of beauty."

"A temptress who has brought ruin to the Clear Sky Sect!"

Sensing the rising anger twisting against Ah Yin, Tang Xiao quickly tried to correct them. "Father, Elders, this has nothing to do with Ah Yin. Our love was mutual—she and I willingly chose each other. The blame lies entirely with Tang Hao!"

"Silence!" Tang Tian roared. "If not for that witch, would you brothers have ended up like this?"

But it was too late. Tang Xiao was crippled; Tang Hao was the only Haotian Star left. Whether or not Ah Yin was truly guilty, she would bear the blame for this.

Tang Tian bellowed, "Where is Tang Hao? Where is that unfilial beast? Bring him back to me at once!"

An elder stepped forward cautiously. "Sect Master, Tang Hao… has gone missing."

"Missing?" Tang Tian's beard bristled with rage. "Then post a bounty! Announce it to the entire continent—I want word of that traitor!"

And so, the Clear Sky Sect issued a bounty—not for an enemy's capture, but for one of their own. The world was stunned.

Spies and informants flooded the continent, and soon the story spread: the Haotian Twins had turned on each other over a woman.

Spirit Hall, the Pope's Palace

"The Haotian Twins, killing each other?" Pope Qian Xunji laughed aloud. "Hahahaha! Excellent. Excellent! The mighty Clear Sky Sect devouring itself; I couldn't ask for better news!"

"Congratulations, Your Holiness," said Golden Bell Douluo, one of the Temple Protectors. "With Tang Xiao crippled, one of our greatest threats is gone."

Qian Xunji nodded with satisfaction. "A pity Tang Hao isn't crippled as well."

Silver Hammer Douluo's eyes gleamed with cunning. "Your Holiness, perhaps we should look for him. If we secretly fan the flames between Tang Hao and his sect, they might destroy each other. Then we'll reap the final benefit."

"Excellent," Qian Xunji said, eyes lighting up. "Do as you suggest."

Spirit Hall, Worship Hall

The news of the Haotian brothers reminded Qian Daoliu of his own past. Long ago, he and Tang Chen had loved the same woman—Xi Xi. But Xi Xi had loved Tang Chen, and Qian Daoliu, realizing he could never have her, stepped back and let her go.

To love someone means knowing when to stop. To spare yourself is wisdom. He never expected Tang Chen's descendants to repeat a similar tragedy in so brutish a way.

Meanwhile, Qian Renxue quietly smiled upon hearing the news.

"Xue'er, what's brought you such joy?" Qian Daoliu asked gently.

Qian Renxue replied, "Grandfather, in my old memories, Tang Hao and Ah Yin loved each other deeply, and Tang Xiao chose to bow out. The brothers stayed close, the couple happy. There was never this—brother killing brother, the younger stealing the elder's wife."

"Then why has this changed?" he mused aloud.

Qian Renxue sighed softly. "Emotion is a double-edged sword. For some, it's a weapon to master; for others, a chain that dictates everything they do. In the hands of gods, emotion is merely a string—used to move their pawns to achieve divine goals. When the Angel God's trial was sabotaged by the Sea God, it made me fall in love with Tang San. If back then I had chosen not to 'redeem' him but to destroy him, perhaps the Spirit Hall's fate would have been different… Then again, what does it matter? He revived once; he could have revived again."

Hearing this, Qian Daoliu looked weary. He lifted his head toward the angel statue looming over the Worship Hall, falling silent for a long while. Finally, he spoke. "This time, God Ancestor is watching. You will not suffer those same filthy manipulations again. But tell me, Xue'er—since you mentioned divinity, do you mean there's a god behind this chaos?"

Qian Renxue nodded. "Of course. Without divine interference, how could two brothers destroy each other like this, one stealing the other's wife, and their future children destined to hate each other? This reeks of a god's hand."

Then, recalling her past life, she smiled wryly. "It seems the future Tang San is blessed indeed. A god's hand moves behind him as well."

"Reborn or not," she said softly, "this time, we're not the only ones guided by gods."
