Chapter 11 - 008: self-formed

On day 194, the Self-Formed Council of Scientists had their seventh meeting since it's formation. The duration between each meeting is not fixed, and the place where the meeting is held depends on the size of the attendance. This time, the meeting took place in one of the large storage units called the Armory, which once stored the supply of weapons for the thousands of soldiers who used to occupy this military in-wall shelter.

The members attending this meeting were:

(don't try to remember all of them. most of them won't be in more than 3 scenes.)

1. Professor Eric Vogt, a former movie director with a PhD in Geology and the current leader of the Self-Formed Council of Scientists. He is responsible for broadcasting the record of the meeting to the public after the meeting is complete.

2. Dr. Alina Post, a member of the elected council and one of the two therapists outside of the closed section.

3. Dr. Erdmann Warner, a member of the elected council and the head therapist of the community. He created the school system inside the wall and heads the process of psychological rehabilitation of the cognitively impaired survivors of Day Zero.

4. Professor Reiner Kastner, an engineer and a member of the communication department team. He is responsible for handling communication with the surviving group outside of the wall and is here to report the latest updates on this matter.

5. Monica Kastner, Professor Kastner's daughter and the communication team's youngest member(nepotism). Having recently graduated from the Wall School System, she serves as a temporary communication engineer and takes most of the team shifts due to all other members being over 40.

6. Anneli Dieter, a former Swiss stage actress who now handles the community supplies and rations, outside the clothed section.

7. Laurenz Wagner, a former news network executive currently working in the rations and supplies department with Anneli Dieter. He took over the position after one of the two apprentices left to become a temporary water engineer.

8. Steffi Strobel, the third youngest member in Anneli's team. A former med-student and a graduate from the Wall School System as a temporary medical doctor but does not serve as such due to over-saturation.

9. Dr. Lothar Eckstein, one of the only real medical doctors in the community. He is responsible for training the upcoming batch of doctors and also assists The chemical department in some experiments , if needed.

10. Dr. Mia Cline, one of the few electrical engineers in the community. Even though she lives in the closed section, she heads the electrical team of the whole community.

11. Herta Wolter, despite having a degree in mechanical engineering, was the one to boot the main water system. She currently heads the team working on fixing the secondary water system, which consists of her and five apprentices.

12. Abi Gorman, one of the apprentices in Professor Wolter's team. He previously served with the Rations and Supplies Department before joining Professor Wolter's department due to a shortage of workers.

13. Artur Baumann, a chemist from the closed section.

14. Charlotte Ziegler, a member of the elected council and the sister of the head of the Ziegler family.

When all the attendants arrived at the armory, they took their seats in a circle around a glass table that had seven empty chairs available. On the table lay a recorder for the meeting and several folders brought by some of the attendants.

The role of the council's leader is not a privilege but a duty, and an annoying one. The longest anyone has lasted as the leader was five weeks. The leader's primary responsibility is to manage the flow of the debate, ensuring each person has the opportunity to speak without interruption. Once a speaker finishes, the floor is open until someone else takes their turn. This structure frequently leads to conflicts among attendees.(as most of them don't really care about the rules)

Professor Vogt started the recorder beginning the meeting, "Audio archive of the seventh meeting of the Council of Scientists. Again, Even though most members are not scientists, that's the name we've chosen.

The date is day 193 of a new calendar. The place is the armory, and the room is... almost empty its really scary. In their physical form, we have 14 members attending out of 56, maybe. The rest of the members did not provide a cause for their absence. It's obvious that they chose to listen to the broadcast like our 120 fans worldwide, who I'm sure are listening right now."

He continued, "So, the attending members are myself, Professor Eric Vogt, two-times CESAR Award winner and the current leader of the Council of Scientists, the only council that matters. Also, members of the elected council, Dr. Alina Post, Dr. Erdmann Warner, and Charlotte Nepotism... Sorry, Charlotte Ziegler, who are here to, do something. Also attending is Dr. Lothar Eckstein, our medical doctor. We also have Professor Reiner Kastner and Monica Kastner from the communication team, Dr. Mia Cline, head of the electrical department, and Dr. Arthur Baumann, attending only for his second time. From the water system department, we have Professor Herta Wolter and Abi Gorman. Did they fix the water system yet? If you're wondering, the answer comes later in this episode. And from the department that doesn't seem to agree on a name, Anneli Dieter, Laurenz Wagner, and Steffi Strobel."
