Alfred is a soldier, A strong-willed soldier. He believes that if you're not strong, you need someone strong to protect you, or else you will end up the victim of someone who is.
When Alfred was young, he had an accident involving his two younger siblings and a friend of theirs, Kazimir. The accident caused the death of his younger brother, Egor, and left Alfred with a group of scars on his body. Alfred was the oldest and the strongest of the four. He felt responsible for protecting his loved ones. He believed this until the accident shattered his belief.
The incident changed him physically and mentally. From that day on, Alfred vowed to get stronger and stronger every day so that he would be able to protect the people he cares about.
At the beginning of his youth, Alfred joined the Germanic Special Forces, in which he served for the next 10 years of his life. During that time, he solidified his belief that if you're strong, you can protect your life and the lives of the people you care about. If you're weak and unprotected, you don't deserve a life. In one of his missions with the Special Forces, he met Egon, a fellow soldier who would later become a close friend. Together, they served on many missions and achieved excellent results.
One particular mission had an unsatisfactory outcome for their superiors. The consequences of this mission led to both Alfred and Egon being permanently dismissed from their service. Alfred loved his job and spreading his beliefs, and he blamed Egon for causing him to lose his joy in life, or at least, a part of Egon.
Even after years of inactivity, they were still considered valuable assets, and their knowledge and experiences could not be wasted.
After the breakout, Alfred and Egon were invited to inhabit the crisis shelter that is Miller's Circle. Their families were also invited, but in Egon's case, he had no family. Egon, upon his request, was placed in the military unit guarding the shelter, and was granted the rank of a commanding officer. After that, Alfred volunteered to serve with the unit, even though he had no official rank.
At day zero, Alfred was one of the few who encountered the unknown threat and survived. He also managed to save ten of his fellow soldiers before heading to save his sister and her husband. When he arrived at his sister's house, he found her dead. his brother-in-law Kazimir was on his knees staring at one of the creatures that killed his wife. Seeing his sister dead was heavy on him, but he managed to control his feelings and act as reasonably, saving his friend from an almost certain death.
With the eleven people he managed to save, Alfred headed to the emergency shelter set in the wall. As he approached the main gate of the section, he saw hundreds of people rushing on top of each other crying and begging for the gate to open. He acted fast and headed to the vehicle's elevator, to which he had the combination code.
After five months in the shelter, the deteriorating conditions outside became increasingly apparent. The gradual rise in radiation levels suggested a bleak outlook, with projections indicating unsuitability for human habitation for at least five more years. While the building's support systems could sustain operations for a few more years, the available supplies within the shelter were insufficient to support the current population for more than a few months. It became evident that if the population within the shelter remained that large, survival for any individual would be improbable.
Alfred and egon were left in a hard situation. Such number of people can not survive on such limited supplies. Some action needed to be taken regarding this matter.
