Chapter 35 - A vacation at Breathless Montego Bay

Jason stood by the window, gazing out at the New Jersey skyline, his expression a mask of calculation.

The glass felt cool against his forehead as he leaned in, dissecting the events that led to Elena's departure.

She had been very this past week quickly ith something known to only her. She always left the house before he woke up to go to the company.

He'd checked the flight manifests. She'd left the country. Why? And where? The lack of answers was an inconvenience.

His thoughts were a series of ifs and thens. What did she want? What could she use? Jason's mind flipped through possibilities, weighing each one for leverage.

The city lights blurred together as he narrowed his eyes. He didn't like unknowns. And he didn't like being surprised.

A faint, cold smile touched his lips. He'd find out. He'd handle it.

The sound of ice clinging to his glass punctuated the silence as Jason turned away from the window. He walked to the bar, his movements economical, and poured himself a drink. The whiskey slid smoothly into the glass.

He took a sip, his gaze drifting as he considered. Their marriage had been a strategic move, a merger of interests that hadn't yet yielded results.

A cold nod seemed to flicker in his eyes.

The ice in his glass clinked as he set it down. Jason picked up his phone and dialed a number from memory. "Find out where Elena went," he said. "And find out why."

He hung up, his expression unchanged. The situation needed management.

His phone buzzed with a message from his PI. "Checking into Elena's movements."

Jason's expression didn't change. Good. He wanted answers.

He typed a single word response: "Fast." The screen flickered off. Jason's eyes adjusted, his face illuminated only by the city lights.

A soft chime broke the quiet. His PI was efficient. The message popped up.

"Elena boarded flight to Jamaica."

Jason's eyes narrowed. Jamaica. So she'd gone... Why?

A calculating glare touched his features. Time to find out what she was hiding.

His mind ticked through scenarios. Was she meeting someone? Hiding something? The questions were data points, to be analyzed and used.

The whiskey in his glass was almost empty now. Jason set it down, his movements precise. He'd get his answers. And he'd use them.

The city lights outside seemed to hum with possibility.

The city lights seemed to fade into the background as Jason's focus narrowed. He typed a new message on his phone: "Dig into Elena's connections in Jamaica. Business or personal."

The screen flickered, and he waited. The silence stretched.

A minute passed. Two. Then his phone chimed.

"Lead to a beach resort in Montego Bay. No obvious business ties. Looking deeper."

Jason's eyes narrowed. A beach resort. A getaway. Or something else? Did she have a secret lover?.

His phone chimed again.

"She boarded the plane with a guy." Jason smiled coldly as he read the message .

She obviously went to a vacation with her secret lover.

He didn't know why but he felt so angry and butter at the same time.He told himself it was just his male ego being bruised because his wife would rather spend some time with some guy than him.

No wonder she hadn't tried to seduce him since they got married, if it was someone else, she would hav appeared in his room everynight begging him to sleep with her.

She was just pretending to be an innocent woman, when she was a secret wanton. A whore!

He frowned the remaining liquor in one go.

He felt more angry as he imagined the things she would be doing right their, at a resort, in their room.

He threw the glass on the wall angrily before going to his bathroom to freshen up.

Elena walked into the penthouse feeling so tired, all she wanted was a long hot bath before going to bed, she was quite hungry, but she decided to have breakfast the next day instead since it was just some minutes before midnight and it was too.

She climbed up the stairs, she yelped in fright as she noticed someone at the top of the stairs. Jason! How was she going to explain herself to him?, where would she say she'd gone to?.

He looked at her with cold eyes that was very deep they seemed to be boring a hole straight into her.

"You're back." He recked of alcohol as he spoke.

"Hmm." She acknowledged, fmfeeliya bit remorseful for not being serious with their marriage life.

The cold man walked past her, after throwing what she thought was a look of distain.

Maybe she had seen wrong, or had she? She shook her head as she continued the way to her room.

Their marriage wasn't like that of others, nothing was normal about it, so she wouldn't put her company on the line just because of someone she had been semi forced to marry.
