Tom looked at the woman seated right before him.
She was dressed smartly and beautifully, her composure - very elegant. Most men would want a woman like her as their wife, but he just felt that she wasn't the one for him.
Earlier that morning, his mother had called him and asked him to go back home because something big had happened the previous day. Curiosity had made him head back first thing in the morning, only for him to arrive to meet Linda waiting for him. When he asked, he was informed that she was the only one in the house, even the helpers had been asked to only resume work in the evening.
Bitterly, Tom sat down on a coach in the living room. He brought out his cell phone to make a call to his mother.
Unfortunately, his mother must have predicted this move of his, so, she had switched off her phone.
When he couldn't reach her, he played a game on his cellphone. Linda quietly watched him for half an hour before she couldn't take it anymore, she thought he was going through some emails on his phone, she couldn't even imagine that he was just playing a game to pass the time.
He had no intention of spending time catching up with her. This wasn't what his mother had told her the previous day.
She cleared her throat, feeling bitter.Tom looked at her before he went back to his cell phone.
"Tom...., mom.. asked me to come." She said softly.
He looked at her this time around, contemplating what to say to her, weighing if each word that came to his mind would hurt her more than the previous.
"You mean my mom?" He noticed the way her eyes fell. Very good then.
"Yes... Your mom, she said you wanted to catch up with me, so you wanted me to come to your house." Her voice sounded so helpless, that he felt a slight headache for her.
"First of all, this isn't where I live, and yes,my mother lied, I don't want to catch up with you for any reason, I'm too busy to have the time for such things, when next my mom tells you anything, make sure it's the truth before you make any move." He stood up having said his mind.
Linda's eyes started to water. He didn't mind, he just walked away, angry at his mother for playing with two lives.
Tom went straight to the office, he dived straight into work, angry at the fact that he had wasted more than an hour that morning because of his mother. So he died straight into business.
That day, Tom decided to pay Elwave digital tech a visit during lunch break.
It was already lunch hour but Elena was too focused on the documents she was going through to notice, she didn't even feel hungry while she worked, so, she continued working till she heard a knock at the door.
She knew it was Adam at the door so, she pressed a button on the desk and it automatically opened by itself.
Adam walked in holding a cup of milkshake and some cookies. Elena smiled as his thoughtfulness, wondering what she would do withouut him .
"Boss on my way here, I got informed that one Theodore Tom is here to pay you a visit without booking an appointment." Adam was very clear about the Tom's episode.
Elena felt a slight headache, she massaged her head as she contemplated if she should meet up with him or not.
Better get rid of the problem than run away from it.
"Where is he?" She squinted her eyes as she asked. Adam caught her helplessness.
"He's waiting for you in the lobby."
She stood up immediately. Adam followed from behind as she walked steadily to the lobby.
When she got to the lobby, Elena saw the handsome man dressed in black suit waiting patiently for her. He raised his head when he heard footsteps and his eyes met hers briefly before they both looked away.
She say down on the coach across him. He looked calm and composed, It was as if he had been expecting her to show up.
"Mr Theodore, may I know why you've consistently been on my case?" She felt the need to ask him to clarify things.
Thomas remained silent for some minutes.
"First of all, I think I was intrigued by your mode of operation, I was intrigued by Elwave Digital Tech, and then there was that day we met, you fascinated me. To be honest."
When he paused, she didn't wait for him before throwing another question at him.
"Okay...so... you were fascinated by me, and then what? Should I come to you and propose marriage to you or what?"
Tom was stunned, or rather, speechless.
He shook his head.
"I'm a businessman whose thoughts had nothing to do with marriage, I'm very much happy being single, I just want us to have a chat, on business, only" He emphasized quickly to clear any form of misunderstanding, though he had fancied her, those fantasies were always destroyed whenever he remembered how she had singlehandedly beaten up all his well trained men without sustaining any injury or even a scratch.
He didn't think he could ever handle some one like her.
Elena looked at the man who was trying to act all professionally with her.
"So .. you want us to talk business?" She asked for confirmation.
"Yes, business." He confirmed.
