Chapter 27 - A Confusing Change
It was a game to him.
She wouldn't give him the satisfaction of her being played.
"I—-" But her voice betrayed her and broke, and once again, she raged internally at her own body's betrayal.
"Go on."
She broke her gaze, allowing her eyes to roam to the door. Looking away from him seemed to help her think properly again.
"There was a woman on the call." She looked back at him.
"Was there now?"
"She said, 'I never thought he would be someone to keep a toy, but uh, there you are." She tried to repeat the words exactly how she had heard them.
Mr Lythoryn did not seem surprised.
He must know then. The woman must be his problem. Either one who wanted him dead or one who had a romantic history with him.
It was hard to picture Mr Lythoryn with anyone romantically, though.
But how did any of this concern her? How did attacking her affect Mr Lythoryn? It made no sense!
