Chapter 26 - Speak
Idalia woke up to the sunlight.
Which was strange. She always kept the curtains down and the windows closed.
Fear raced through her veins before her memories could even make their way to her mind. Her hand moved across the bed quickly in search of Arik while her eyelids still fought against sleep.
Someone guided her hand to Arik, and her eyes jolted open, her gaze meeting Louie's.
Then, she remembered.
But she didn't have the time to react yet until she was able to confirm that Arik was just sleeping and he wasn't hurt or… worse.
He was fine.
She then looked up at Louie, a smile touching her lips.
"You came."
"Well." He showed her the bracelet around his wrist. "How could I not?"
His tone was dismissive, like this was nothing but duty.
Perhaps she was reading too much into it to have expected his forgiveness. By Argon, getting an ally was really something difficult.
