When Irina said first thing in the morning, Helena didn't think she actually meant before day first thing. She had thought she would be able to get a proper breakfast. They were all loaded into the one large carriage that Irina went for before waking them up this morning. She had apologized for waking them up that early, but said it was necessary.
Helena sighed again and Irina pulled out several nature bars, handing one to everyone along with a bottle of water. "Couldn't we have at least waited until the sun was up." Callum groaned, he was tired. He barely got any sleep because Ryan and Andre were doing weird stuff in the corner.
"No, I want us to get to the office as early as possible that way we can return early and maybe even leave today or would you rather spend another day here and delay the mission?" Irina asked sarcastically. Helena was surprised she didn't think Irina knew sarcasm.
" I mean, you could go to sleep now." Helena suggested timidly. "With all these bumps and potholes in the road I wouldn't even dream of it." he replied sassily. Helena was offended by his tone as she was just trying to help. "Would you like me to cast a sleep spell on you?" she offered once more not giving up.
Callum paused, thinking about it, "What exactly what I do?" he asked. "It would just put you to sleep and then I could wake you when we arrive. It would put you in somewhat of a deep sleep. That way you won't wake up with every bump." she explained. Callum thought about it again and noted he was just way too tired not to agree.
Helena quietly cast at her spell, and everyone looked at her intrigued, Andre wanted to say something that much was evident, but Elena held him back. She harshly whispered something to him, which seemed to slightly calm him down but thankfully Helena did not see.
The ride to the counties office was not a long one. Helena was honestly surprised that he didn't want to rent out his carriage yesterday. Maybe he had just promised someone else. The ride was only thirty minutes and them confirming their location along with filling out other paperwork took about another fifteen plus another thirty to get back to the inn.
The county clerk was nice. He only asked them a few questions about how long they would be staying and a little bit about their mission. Irina, however, refused any information on their mission and simply told him what their final destination would be, making sure to tell him that they'd be stopping in one more town. There was also some basic paperwork to fill out which Irina took the liberty of doing. Honestly, Helena felt like she knew as much as the county clerk or even less because at least he knew what their stops were.
By the time they got back, it was light out and they decided to give Andre an hour to catch up with all the other persons he knew before heading out back to the train station. Elena seemed less weirded out by him, actually expressing himself to other persons and seemed happy by it.
"Are we making any more stops?" Helena asked taking a seat next to Ryan. "That depends we'll be making two more stops or one more depending on how you want to look at it, but they are directly related to the mission. We will be getting off at the next town, which is about a day away and then from there, we have to teleport into the town as it is a remote village." Irina replied.
"We don't have to teleport there." Callum muttered, not really interested in confronting Irina. Helena look at him confused "Then why are we teleporting? Isn't it always best to conserve our mana?"
"That's true." Elena agreed. "But it would also take us about five days to get there and since it was a mission about missing people, we thought it would be best to get there as soon as possible." Elena's use of the word we makes Helena think that she and Irina discussed it. For some reason this has Helena feeling slightly upset. It was a mission she had selected for her and Ryan to go on together, yet here she was with several extra persons and they had discussed the mission beforehand.
Helena not saying anything more and leaning her head on Ryan's shoulder, "I'm going to take a nap. Wake me up if anything happens?" she asked, but it was more of a statement. Ryan nodded patting her head as she drifted off. He had noticed her discomfort, but he also knew that she would probably be more uncomfortable if he was to send everyone home so he just let it be, he just hopes he made the right decision.
