"Was that your amazing plan, to get all the villagers killed?" Andre mocked. Helena was about to respond, but Callum interrupted. "Now isn't the time for that. As you can see, you were about to fight a man that came from a statue." he interrupted annoyed taking a defensive stand.
The statue or rather man laughed summoning creatures from the ground. There were about 15 of them and the statues first attack went towards Helena. She jumped out of the way before she got the chance to attack Irina immediately went for it. She sighed, but jumped back attacking the creatures instead.
The statue flung Irina back causing her to fly into a tree. She didn't seem to feel that out as she immediately got off and started running towards the statue, one of his summons jumped in the way, causing Irina to split it in two. Helena immediately noticed that they split monster started to reform, causing their to now be two.
"Don't slice it." she yelled, hoping everyone heard her. "If we do that, they're just going to multiply." she yelled as she dodged another attack. "Well aren't you a smart one?" The statue mocked.
"Who are you and why are you doing this?" Elena asked, as vines wrapped around the summon that was attacking her. "Finally a smart question." the statue laughed maniacally.
"Why am I doing this?" he asked rhetorically while sending an attack at Ryan. "Why not?" he mocked laughing. He continued making more summons and sending attacks their way. It wasn't that the team was weak, they were just being overwhelmed with the numbers as he kept making summons by the minute.
"I'm sorry." Helena muttered as she casted a powerful spell. The others could feel their mana replenishing as the summons disappeared. "You!" there, man yelled, backing up.
"You aren't supposed to be here, not yet" he yelled, trying to run off. Helena run after him, placing her hand on his forehead and casting a spell, turning him back to stone and causing him to crumble.
When the others got to where, Helena, fought the statue she was passed out on the ground. Her long blonde hair was no brown, and she seemed slightly plumper. "Helena!" Ryan running over and picking her up.
"Her mana is running low and she's burning up." he told the others as he tried to sit her in a comfortable position. The others looked at her concern, but said nothing. "Let's head back to the village. We can figure something out there." Irina said with a sigh.
"We can also try to think about what to tell them about their dead family members." Andre groaned as Elena elbowed him. They quietly made their way through the forest back to the village where the only thing that could be heard were the creaking of crickets and other bugs in the night.
When they got back to the village, the villagers were already outside, hugging each other. "What happened? Why are you guys outside?" Irina asked there's no way they would know they took care of their statue. Why were they outside?
"Thank you, oh thank you" an elderly lady said, shaking Irina's hand aggressively as tears rolled on her face. "You brought my grandson back to me." she cried her. The team shared the look of confusion. They all saw when the hostages were killed, what was going on?
"Do you mind if I speak with your grandson? you know just to make sure everything is OK after the attack?" Irina asked concerned. The old lady Nada motioning for her grandson to come over. The man came over and stared at Helena, who was unconscious in Ryan's arms. "Can you thank her for me when she wakes up?" he asked staring at Helena as if he's seen an angel.
"Yeah." Ryan grunted.
"What happened? What is the last thing you remember?" she asked, pulling him away from his grandmother ear shot slightly. While he was speaking, she motion for Elena to scan him. "Well the last thing I saw was that thing coming at me and then I woke up outside the village." he repeated. Irina looked even more concerned.
Irina told him he was free to go after hearing his explanation and she turned to the group to ask Elena her findings. "There's nothing not even a trace of magic that some humans have." Elena replied, shaking her head. "What is going on?" Irina asked confused.
"I'm not sure, but we need to tell master when we get back." Callum said with a sigh. By the time they turned around, Ryan was already gone. They assumed he went back to the room they were staying at, and they all decided to do the same.
