On the other side of the town the second group, got close to where the monster dragged its victims off to. Once they decided they had enough evidence they went back into town to meet up with the others.
"Should we immediately go to where the victims are being dragged off to I should someone play bait?" Helena asked taking a seat. "It would be best to see where they're being dragged off." Irina suggested. Everyone thought about it for a while, but Elena disagreed along with Ryan and Andre.
"I think it's better someone plays bait. If we decide to go and check whether they're being dragged off, we might get caught. But if someone plays bait, then whatever is doing this would have a victim and we could follow because according to the residence, only one person is being taken." Elena suggested. Her suggestion made sense and everyone agreed now trying to decide who was going to play a bait.
"I can do it." Helena volunteered. She was strong and adept with magic, but the others didn't seem so sure. "I don't think that's a good idea." Irina disagreed. "We're not sure if your capabilities and you could be in danger."
"You're not sure of my capabilities, but I am. Please do remember that I chose this mission. I know what I can and can do." she rebutted, it looked like she wanted to say more, but Callum grab her shoulder and shook his head.
"Ok, the abductions usually happen at night, so let's take a moment to rest and then later we'll discuss our strategy."
And that they did, by 10 o'clock the town was empty, and Helena was the only one outside. This strategy was simple. Helena would be outside whatever was taking the villagers would take her and they would follow if this situation got too dangerous, she would use her magic to free herself and they would attack.
By 10:30 something happen and that they was not what they were expecting, the same statue that seemed out of place in the middle of tone was walking towards Helena. Its eyes were glowing red, and it was emitting a red aura. This typically signify that an object was cursed, but the fact that it was moving so much on its own, meant that it was done by a high-level caster, and that it had a purpose.
This could mean that the rest of the villagers were still alive, Helena pretended that she was going to run and the statue cat up with her at an alarming speed. The statue grabbed her target over its stone shoulder, which was in fact painful before walking into the forest. Helena could sense that her teammates were following her and gave them no indication that she was in trouble.
It is not surprising that the villagers couldn't find their loved ones. The statue walked for about an hour and a half before it stopped and went into a cave, it wasn't working slow either. No one probably even bother to look this far as most of the villagers seemed oddly sickly. They probably wouldn't be able to make a journey like this on foot.
Inside the cave were several other persons, they look like they villagers who went missing just based on their appearance. Were tied up and set along the wall. In the center of the cave was some sort of pool with a small island in the middle. On the island there was a pedestal that was using red liquid into the waters around it.
It didn't take a genius to figure out that the liquid was blood. In further corners of the cave were dead bodies, but with the amount of in the pool, it was hard to believe it all came from everyone here. It had probably started off with animals and when that wasn't enough, they started kidnapping persons from the village.
It was hard to believe that this was done all by a statue. "Hey what are you doing?" Helena asked this statue. The statue from her harshly to the floor, thankfully, she already had a protection spell castor, so it didn't hurt, but the statue looked at her in surprise. Why wouldn't it? She was the first person to ask what he was doing instead of asking to let her go.
"I'm starting a rebirth." it answered rather smoothly or a statue. It honestly sounded like a regular person. That was extremely odd. Was it a person that was cursed to be a statue?
Before you could ask another question, the statue took the person for this from her and brought them to the pedestal right there they decapitated the person letting the blood drain directly into it. Helena starred in surprise not expecting that to happen in just a matter of seconds. It went to grab for another person when she let herself loose.
At the same time, the rest of her teammates came in and saw the body fall into the pool. The statue, realizing what was about to happen immediately decapitated everyone causing Helena to jump back, barely missing the attack. He used the magic to pull the body directly to the pedestal, draining all the blood into it before dropping the bodies into the pool.
Before anyone had any time to attack the statues stoney exterior started to crumble, leaving flesh behind by the time of the crumbling had stopped. The only thing that was left was a man looking nothing like the statue, but everything powerful. The cave began to crumble, causing all of them to flee.
