Chapter 30 - 30 test

To test the drug's performance, volunteers were naturally needed. Green had 99% confidence in the drug, but testing was still necessary. Better safe than sorry.

In this medieval world, there were countless people eager to participate. In the slums outside the city, Green successfully found a bunch of people willing to participate in the experiment for just one gold coin. After hearing the price of one gold coin, the number of people wanting to participate was simply innumerable. Green even specially selected three people: a boy, a young man, and a middle-aged man. As for why there were no elderly people, in the slums outside the city, no one could live to old age.

Inside the manor, Green was looking at the three volunteers he had chosen.

The child's name was White. He had blond hair that looked extremely messy because it hadn't been groomed in a long time. His clothes were also tattered, with holes here and there, serving almost no purpose other than to cover his body.

The young man was named Eitel, and his condition was not much different from White's. However, Eitel, who was older, was wearing clothes that were obviously much better, but the fact that the clothes were a size too big clearly revealed that the clothes might not have actually belonged to him.

The oldest of the three, a middle-aged man named Will, was in the best condition, with a ruddy glow on his face. At least he was well-off outside the city, and in the slums outside the city, surviving to this age was a symbol of ability in itself. The occasional flashes of ambition in his eyes proved that he wasn't participating in this experiment for the money.

Green carefully examined the three of them.

"I already told you why I brought you here. This potion is my creation, and all you have to do is drink it. The potion may have unknown effects, it could be good or bad. You still have a chance to back out. Turn around and leave, and no one will stop you." Green sat on the sofa, pointing to the three bottles of emerald green potions on the table as he spoke to the three of them.

Upon hearing Green's words, the three of them lowered their heads and began to ponder. Although Green had mentioned it at the selection site, they still hesitated when faced with this situation.

Green observed the three deep in thought before him, offering no prompting but waiting patiently. During the selection process, Green had conducted psychological analysis using the chip; all three possessed certain burdens or ambitions, and were unlikely to relinquish this opportunity to change their fate.

As Green expected, one of the three quickly stepped forward. However, to Green's surprise, it wasn't the ambitious middle-aged Will who stepped forward first, but rather the youngest, White.

White stretched out his dirty right hand, grabbed one of the vials, closed his eyes, and drank it down. Seeing White's action, Etel and Will stopped thinking and focused their attention on him.

White took the drug first. The two could observe White's reaction for a short time before deciding whether to take theirs. If the risk was too high, they planned to turn around and leave. If the drug really could grant a stronger physique as the man in front of them claimed, they would give it a try, even with the risks.

After drinking the drug, White stood quietly in place. However, the effects of the life-saving potion soon began to take hold. White's body temperature rose, his entire body turned red, profuse sweat seeped from his body, his eyes became bloodshot, and he collapsed to the ground, rolling around in agony.

"It's so itchy...so itchy." White scratched his skin directly with his hands, leaving streaks of blood on his body. White seemed not to feel the pain, pressing his arm to the floor and rubbing it desperately, as if this could relieve the itching. Even though his skin was covered in blood, he did not stop his actions.

"Hold him down." Green frowned as he looked at White, who was constantly hurting himself. He then said to the guard beside him.

The two guards behind Green immediately stepped forward and forcibly restrained White, preventing him from harming himself further. Thanks to the life-saving potion, White's previously bloody wounds rapidly scabbed over and healed.

As time went on, White grew rapidly, increasing in height by half a head. The clothes he was wearing became too tight due to his rapid growth, and he became a size larger.

[Life Potion Effect Test: Provides a large amount of vitality; excessive consumption may lead to premature development and promote physical growth.]

[Optimized Plan: 1. Dilute the life-giving potion. 2. Add more black centipede fangs during the experiment to suppress the release rate of life force and slow down the drastic changes.]

White has stopped struggling, and the dramatic changes caused by the life-saving potion have ended.

After glancing at White, who was pinned to the ground, Green waved his hand.

The two guards immediately released White, who then regained consciousness. He quickly got up and began to check his physical condition. Looking at his now-larged self, a joyful smile appeared on White's face.

"Sir, I have completed the experiment. May I…" White gestured with his hands.

"Take him to collect the money." Green ignored White's actions, gave an order to the guard next to him, and the guard took White away from the scene.

Green turned and looked at the remaining two with interest.

"Who among you is willing to continue participating in the experiment?"

A subtle expression crossed Elt and Will's faces. While White was frantically self-harming, they had wanted to run away immediately. If they weren't afraid the guards would kill them, they would have run away long ago. However, as the effects of the life-restoring potion became increasingly apparent, their eyes no longer showed fear, but rather ambition. The potion's rapid healing of wounds and its ability to accelerate White's growth were now evident to them.

Elt and Will exchanged a glance, then simultaneously stepped forward, picked up the potion, and gulped it down.

Unlike White, the two didn't engage in the same self-harm. Their bodies, already fully formed, had no further growth potential, but this allowed the drug's effects to primarily boost their physical abilities. Previously malnourished from living in a slum, their muscles swelled wildly, resembling those of bodybuilders from their past lives. However, unlike White, they possessed not only strength but also speed, almost reaching the limits of human potential.

Green looked at the two men who had swelled into muscular giants after drinking the potion and smiled with satisfaction.

After having the guards take the two away, Green slightly altered the proportions of the medicine, and the final version of the life potion was produced.

The final version of the life potion was a great success in its testing. Most of the guards who volunteered to participate in the test, combined with the breathing technique they obtained from the auction at the port of Elendal, broke through to become knight apprentices. Even those who did not succeed in becoming knight apprentices experienced a significant improvement in their physical abilities.

Green summoned Asheville, Lyra, and Mia. He had them take the potion as well, successfully advancing them to knight apprentice level. The three had already received training within the castle, and with the help of Green's potion, their advancement to knight apprentice level was a natural progression.

"The effect is good. Take a few days to get used to it, and in another two or three months, you can try to break through to the formal knight level using the potion I left behind." Green looked at the three who had already broken through, recording the effects while giving them advice.
